Sometimes there is a good reason why love happens.
I am thoroughly surprised there isn't a review for such a great, re-readable-worthy manga, so I guess I'll try my best to put one.
You may come across a story similar to this in the yaoi world, but only a few are as good. The synopsis up there can be quite misleading if you expect a light, slice of life story with common relationship problems and conflict. Sure, the first chapter may seem like so, but you will know there is something up when the the focus starts to be on Kai, then things run at a dashing

speed that you will prefer reading the dialogs twice over to understand what is happening. Well, as the plot is indeed complex I will even recommend you to reread this over and over; the better your comprehension is, the more enjoyable the story will be.
The art is one of the best thing in this manga, I presume. Set in France, with all those well-drawn romantic streets, delicious classic buildings and interesting interior, details are there right when you want it. That also goes for the character. I personally can stare at the sketchy outlines and soft shades and hair details for a long time before going to the next panel. Not to mention... well... erotic kisses and hot scenes with believable angles. The art is handled very gracefully, there aren't much effects in the panels if you notice, but that emphasizes emotions even stronger.
Talking about characters, it might be hard to completely relate to them because of their very interesting backgrounds, but they have realistic reactions and views on the future. Especially when you get down to the point on why love blossoms between them. It will suddenly click, and you will realize what a warm story this is about. There isn't much character development, but the way Cys and Kai tries to endeavor to retrieve what is precious to them is a story worth contemplating about.
Overall, this is a unique, sexy and warm manga with a solid plot. Not to be missed, great to be treasured.

Well, I like this one.
It starts with the setting of a university, on which one particular student, Jonathan, is currently doing a petty criminal for some cash. His advisor, Professor Paul, then agreed to shove this case under the rug in exchange for some favors. Yeah, sexual ones.
We weren't given a head start, you see. We don't know the beginning of their relationship, how do they met, what do they actually think about each other, who initiates everything and how they reached that stage of being used to each other. Hey, we don't even know whether they're actually in love or not. But their encounters
...
always bring delight, and the way they're trying to top each other while at the same time understanding what makes them the men they know right now is a story to smile about.
Paul, oozing with maturity and gentleman-ness and Jonathan, with the so familiar youth appeal, draped in college fashion. Very, very enjoyable.
Brought in a package of simple yet attractive artwork (well I've always liked this kind of drawing, yum,) this soft yaoi will stick in your mind for a while.

Well.
I love the art. She always brings a totally different experience of art to her manga, and I adore that. Some people may be put off by it at their first read, but after you get used to it, the beauty shows.
The storytelling is also a strong point. Fluid. This is quite a depressing manga, and the mood was set right from the very beginning. Since this is one of her later works, improvement is pretty notable compared to, say, Copernicus no Kokyuu (this one's still good nonetheless.) Pretty hard to describe in words,

but in Double Mints you can see that she rolls the story rather than symbolizing it.
This is a deliciously dark read. Highly recommended. I reread this twice. Other than for understanding the story deeper, there's something from this manga that lures you in. Perhaps it's the elegance.

This is absolutely good. Likely the best yaoi manga I've ever read, well partly because I just can't bear nonsensical plot, characters and effortless art many can find in most yaoi manga.
Plot is very intense and dramatic, dealing with the ugliest part of individuals in terms of relationships all the while being coated with realism. It is a tragedy, a matter of sin and forgiveness, torture and comfort. Sex are not there to be drooled over, it is mostly very heart-wrenching and emotional. This storytelling is well planned, straight to the point and smooth.
Art is hands down gorgeous. 10 years in the making, they say.

I don't read much of Watase sensei's work, but after Imadoki, Aya, Alice 19th and Fushigi Yuugi I may say that this is her best work. Details are there, very intricate, but not overpowering. Empty panels are there in the right space. Emotions are there, properly channeled. Characters are beautifully drawn (Personally my heart melts seeing Masataka smile, something I rarely experience in 2D world,) bodies proportional, and fashion lovely. Also the scenery, buildings, vehicles... I can go on and on saying how well she put history into her drawings.
Characters are no less intense, their dialogs spoken with meaning. Their development are wonderful. Through traumatic experiences, the way they seek for advice and face the cruel world (yeah this phrase's clichee,) are something worth seeing. It isn't sweet nor happy, they're unfortunate, but they deal with it.
Despite description and reviews, this manga is really romantic in the meaning which are not find today; if there is a word 'love' there, then it really means it. Hard to describe, strong enough to be felt. However after reading there's a chance you'll feel totally depressed, most people wouldn't like it, but this is a good hint that this manga is THAT good. I find it quite impossible to cut reading in the middle of the story, since it haunts my mind. If you're mature enough to open your mind and swallow the best part of this series (which is big,) I can't recommend this enough.
