Eureka 7 is one of my all-time favorite anime. I believe that if I had seen this anime when I was 14, this would be my undisputed Number 1. However, I still am glad to have seen this at 19, because I could understand the story much better than my 14 yr old self could've, as well as notice the faults therein. Nevertheless, it still captivated me and awakened the 14 yr old soul within me.
I'll try to keep this spoiler-free, but no guarantees.
Story- (8/10):
I honestly believe that Eureka 7 had a very good story. The first few episodes may come off as

slow (and sometimes confusing) for some people, but I don't think that was the case. The first few episodes in particular showed us character interactions and foreshadowing future events. The specifics of events that occurred were vague but it still all made sense. The first half of the anime did a solid job of showing character interactions, as well as some minor-to-major character developments, with each character varying in degree. The second half of the show was very narrative heavy, but it wasn't without build-up. If you pay attention to the things that they were talking about, you could actually piece together all these information and have it make sense in your head. Granted there were terms and events that they didn't specifically define, it was still relatively easy to connect the dots with other information given. The world building in the anime was great. It got me interested and intrigued. I had to pause and think about stuff from time-to-time and that was great. I don't think my 14 yr old self would've grasped the nature of the world and the events in the anime, and for that I am glad to have watched it at 19. Sure, there are still major plot holes and things that don't make sense (especially in the last two episodes), but that's where the romantic element of the show takes over.
Animation- (8/10):
I came into the show not expecting a whole lot from the animation quality, but I shouldn't have doubted BONES. It LOOKS AMAZING! I love the Character Designs, the world's style, and the designs of the mechs.
The one character design I really love is Eureka. Some may say that her character looks bland, boring and seem like a lazy alternate version of another character but I don't see it like that. Her looks were very intriguing from the very start, and you could tell that she was different. The design helped made me feel that way. Her paleness, her emotionless expressions, her hair color- all of them screamed oddity and mystery, and that made me want to know more about her. That also helped me root for Renton. Her hair transformations throughout the series was also a great representation of the changes in her personality and interactions with others. It helped convey the things that the plot wanted you to understand.
I also absolutely love the design for the Gekko crew members. I thought that they were all interesting and cheerful to look at!
Finally, the mechs and the action sequences were all fantastic-looking! The Seven Swells and all the other OP things that Nirvash can do all looked AMAZING.
Sound- (10/10):
This is probably the criteria that most people would give Eureka 7 a perfect score. Each OP and ED are very catchy and fitting (with exceptions of maybe the 3rd OP and 4th ED: they were catchy but not too fitting). The BGMs were especially great and fantastic. The music's influence in Eureka 7 is also very prevalent and really made for a very pleasant experience.
Also, about the 4th OP of the series- IT'S SO GOOD!!!
Lastly, if you haven't already, listen to Storywriter- FREAKING AMAZING!
Characters- (9/10):
The first half of the series really did a good job of showing character interactions and development to the two main protagonist- Eureka and Renton. It also introduced us to TWO OF THE BEST CHARACTERS OF THE ENTIRE SERIES: Charles and Ray. They were supposed to be antagonist but you couldn't help rooting for them until the very end. Holland, however, was especially rough on Renton. In the second half, though, we learn why that is the case and his character gets redeemed. Whether it excuses the things he did is up to your judgement. Talho got an interesting development in the 2nd half as well. As the narrative exposition became more and more prominent, we did lose some of those character moments in the first half, most especially with the Gekkostate. Anemone and Dominic's relationship was also not as explored as I would've liked. Sure the conclusion of it was great but I wish they explored more on it. The antagonists of the show didn't feel as threatening towards the end as well. They had this mysterious aura that just goes nowhere as the show concludes. However, Eureka and Renton carried it. The show's second half focused on them and that was great. As annoying as the children were (and they were very annoying), I liked that they had some kind of closure as well. I loved the ending too, although I wish they showed us more than what we had.
Enjoyment- (10/10):
If it wasn't obvious already, I absolutely loved the show! I hold a deep affection for it to that I can see its flaws and still accept it and think that it is a part of the reason why I love it so much. I haven't seen AO yet, but I will despite the negativity around it. I also loved the movie, albeit a different thing entirely. I love Eureka and Renton's relationship, and at the end of the day that is the one thing that everyone who watched this series will remember it for.

If you have finished this anime and maybe trying to find an anime similar to this I highly recommend Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! It is also a very popular and very well-loved mecha show for multiple reasons! The main couple there is also absolutely adorable! They're just as lovely as Eureka and Renton! TTGL is just as good, if not better, than E7- that judgement is yours to make!

May contain little spoilers. Story- 7/10 The anime's story is nothing new. We've seen this kind of plot before, but I myself am new to this. I gotta admit kinda liked how they went with it.
