Beautiful sci-fi slice of life series focusing on the ocean. Real Drive has more action and story at the beginning and the end, but the middle section is quite similar.

Both fall into the "relaxing" slice of life genre rather than comedy. Watching either show just puts a smile on your face and helps you forget all your cares.

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!
add

Both of them have something special that takes them beyond the typical slice of life series in setting. Manabi Straight has some sci-fi elements, while Kamichu! includes mystical/fantasy elements. More than that, they include a great deal of character development, and have the characters overcome real challenges in their daily lives. Still, they keep a relaxing and happy feel, always putting a smile on your face even when you feel like crying.

Shin Getter Robo

Both are Super Robot shows with super manly protagonists and ridiculously awesome stuff happening all the time. It doesn't get much more over the top and hotblooded than either of these series.

Death Note

The setting is very different, but the way the show works out is similar. Instead of an intellectual battle between a detective and a god child, Legend of the Galactic Heroes has an intellectual battle between two fleet commanders, each fighting for their own version of justice. It's up to the viewer to decide who's really correct, in the end.

Both of them star genius protagonists who engage in mind games with their opponents. Neither of them are really good guys, and both of them delight in crushing their opponents completely.
