Somehow a spinoff of a spinoff of a spinoff ends up being one of the best and most consistent entries in a series.
Kizudarake no Jinsei is a spinoff of the Tough franchise, specifically the spinoff about Kibo's dad, Oton. However the story of Jinsei is (for the most part) far more compelling than the Tough Sequel. Despite being about a larger than life bulletproof yakuza, its a story far more grounded in reality, and feels more reminiscent of something like Yomawari Sensei rather than Tough. One of the best parts of Koukou Tekkenden Tough is Oton, and whilst we wait for an English release if you can find this online it makes a great little aside and also provides a brilliant introduction to everyone's favourite, Jinsei Nagai whose own spin off is even better than this and at some points better than the main story of Tough.
Oton is a great martial artist and an even greater father, I could easily read countless pages about his youth, his training, or even how he raised Kiibo and how he met his late wife. The art is fantastic, the action is complex but ...

It's kinda weird but still ultimately KKOW!! at heart. Sagawa being in his 40s and getting involved in a relationship with a MUCH younger and more vulnerable woman is pretty odd but until I read the summary just now I honestly thought he was maybe early 30s late 20s.
That aside it's a solid 4 chapter arc that's a little more serious than the original series, but delinquents and their forms of problem solving are a thing of the past, so San-Chan and Itou come up with some modern solutions for modern problems.
