I actually pretty much agree with you about objectivity. At least in this context. I don't think that there is any true objectivity when it comes to evaluating art. I just put that in my "about" section to avoid arguments with idiots. I use "I'm objectively right" as a get-out-argument free card. Wow. You just made me realize the effect 4chan has had on me. Scary. I'm keeping the objectivity thing for the time being though, because you might be one of the only people on this site who even understands that thought process. The "tell me why I'm wrong" part gets 'em every time. They never can. I used latin and everything, how could I possibly be wrong? Of course, I still had to look up a few of your technical terms and references because I've yet to get a proper philosophical education, but once I did I understood the logic and it basically matches mine.

Anyway, what are you planning to do as a philosophy major? I plan to take courses like philosophy, you know, ones that are actually intellectually valuable, but I'm going to major in whatever helps me get power and influence. (Plus money, but I figure that currency is meaningless without the power and so it basically reduces down to that.) The most practically beneficial courses. My goal is to be Machiavellian. (Except for some basic objections like whether or not it's wise to have a reputation as a miser.) I don't give a fuck if he was a champion of the republic or if The Prince was just satire, I've chosen to base my existence on it. I figure need a psychology class because I have too much trouble manipulating people when I barely understand them, but I'm not gonna major in that. Decision theory, Chaos, theory and statistics are going to be helpful and are cool, but I refuse to major in math shit. I'm thinking that I also need to get a Drama class to work on my poor lying ability, but it would be ridiculously stupid to major in that. Can you even major in that? I'm a senior in high school and I still haven't given college much thought. Don't really know how it works. Apparently, I did better than (almost? It's possible that one or two kids scored higher and didn't brag about it as much as all the other people who got above a 2000) everyone at my school on the SAT (which is sort of pathetic, seeing as it was only a 2200 or so, even if it is a small school) and I already know I'm going to the Barett's honors college at ASU (too poor for out-of-state) so I figure I don't have to worry about specifics or making any decisions until that happens.

Anyway, I'm figuring that I want to go into economics or business so I can ideally take money from stupid rich people (and maybe some stupid poor people, but they don't have as much to take) and then I'll have the free time to think about things like philosophy, whereas if I major in philosophy I'm literally not gonna be able to afford to. (The whole "no future" thing still pisses me off though. Where does some autist STEM major get the idea that he has the right to mock someone pursuing actual knowledge? All engineers should be locked away from normal society, foreally tho.) The funny thing is that I don't actually care about power in-and-of itself. It's all a means to an end. Besides, the whole living in luxury thing, I also want to use the power to do good and help people. (Which is how I reconcile the dishonest ways I intend to get rich with with my bleeding heart and conscience.) Not solely for the sake of doing "the right thing," although that's a part of it, but because I want people to think highly of me. I want people to love me and I'm not entirely sure how else to achieve that. That's where the "influence" part comes into play.

Which somehow brings me back to the main point. I definitely don't think I could do that if I majored in philosophy. So why do you want to major in philosophy? What do you want to do with your life and why and how? What makes you you? Who is it that you are, anyways? Why do you even bother getting out of bed in the mornings? Why do you persist living? If God is dead, then is all allowed? What is it that you think that you know that you know and why/how is it that you think that you know that you know it? (I expect in-depth answers to all of these btw.)

>kid a is clearly the superior album despite >muh /mu/core

Actually, due to the rampant non-conforming conformity that controls /mu/, /mu/core cycles a lot. I've postulated something that I refer to as the "Cyclical Axiom of /mu/." Something is /mu/core because its not mainstream then everyone says they hate it or that they think its overhyped because they don't want to conform to popular opinion on /mu/ and then they go back to loving it for the same reason. Anyway, it changes, but I think Kid A is back on top these days. They go back and forth between it and OK Computer being better, even though they both always remain officially /mu/core. They also cycle between pretending Pablo Honey doesn't exist to loathing it to thinking that it's underrated.

Itaots cycles too btw. Even it isn't immune. My theory is that, while it's always been and always will be /mu/core, the reverence /mu/ has for it cycles between being religious and ironic. Honestly, /mu/ is a fascinating place for the observation of the effect of conformity on human behavior. It's one of the only reasons I go there anymore. /b/ used to be more like that, but it slowly changed. The pornographic preferences and general shenanigans/malfeasance of 13 year olds just do not interest me. /lit/ is still like /mu/, but it isn't active enough.

Fuck, I ramble. I ramble so much. This is why I'll never be a professional author. That and the money isn't good enough. Radiohead slash fanfiction doesn't sell much in the 20-50 demographic. Fuckin' homophobes. (Also all the parentheticals really get on people's nerves. I can't see why.)

Haha, yeah I get it. Not a problem, I don't mind the delay in messages. It's like letters almost, and you're a pen pal :P

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's!!! Did you have a good christmas? What have you been doing over your winter break? My family is doing great :) It was so nice to see them, especially my sister. We are really close so it was hard being so far away from her and the rest of them for school but it's still been great. My power was out for 6 days because of the huge ice storm we got here so that gave us plenty of family bonding time, lol. How is your family? I can't believe the year is almost over though! wow, a lot has happened. Overall, what did you think of 2013? any New Year's resolutions for 2014?

First year of uni has been lots of fun. Sure the class were hard, i had to put a lot of work into them, but I got the results I wanted. i'm really proud of my marks. Exams got a bit stressful but I managed. I was terribly underprepared for my chemistry exam. I even thought I failed it (but I didn't thankfully, haha!) I like my biology class and labs, and I love my Environmental Science lectures. I met some really fun girls that i hang out with all the time from Frosh week but i'm hoping to be more outgoing this term and meet even more people. It hasn't all been work though. I'm in the Judo club which is great. Martial arts are the best! My goal is to get a black belt in Jiu Jitsu or Judo. I've also been doing some volunteering with Meal Exchange. We did the Trick or Eat fundraiser, have you heard of it? We collected non-perishable food items on Halloween and donated them to local food banks. That's another new year's resolution of mine, to volunteer more. Your classes sound so interesting! philosophy sounds like it will be a good major for you. So zen meditation, what's that like? and i bet you've been doing tons of volunteering. Having you been traveling again and volunteering in other countries? Keep up the great work! :D

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend. Long distance relationships are really difficult, I'm in one too right now. It takes a lot of effort from both sides of the relationship to make things work. If only one side is putting a lot of effort in, it makes things difficult.

You do look good with the beard and long hair though. yeah, very rugged mountain man!

It sounds like your summers still were pretty interesting. yeah, it's all about staying up late and the ice cream! haha.

Anyway, no need to keep apologizing about the late message :) and i'm cool with using the text option on Skype, though I really only use Skype to talk to my girlfriend. I think you will be my only other contact on there haha! I'd like to keep chatting, you seem like a pretty cool and interesting guy. Again, Happy New Year! Have a great night and good luck in your next term :D

Heh, looking good there Yuno! Tinkerbell, interesting costume choice. It seems like you had a fun time at Otakon. Also good to hear you didn't spend all of your hard earned cash! lol. Cool figures.

Nice. Lots of interesting books there. Hopefully I will still have time to read soon but you're right, school is just around the corner. Sure I am a bit excited, but I'm obviously pretty nervous too. Feeling a little sad too since I am going to a different province for school, so I am a long ways away from my family and close friends. I'm trying to stay positive and I know it will be a blast once I settle in. I think my parents are more excited about it than I am!

What are your classes like for this year? I have Intro to Chemistry, Intro to Biology, Math/Stats, Environmental Science, and an English course, though I am trying to find something more interesting than the English. I was thinking Mandarin, philosophy, or a course on mythology if I could get it to work with my mandatory classes.

My itinerary while at the cottage: eat, read, swim, eat, eat again, read, swim, eat sleep. and repeat. Haha, I couldn't help myself with the food, man those guys can cook!! We went on a hike too, and went canoeing once. Saw a bald eagle while canoeing and got really close to it. That was awesome. For the past four years we have usually gone camping in Nova Scotia. The camp sight is only minutes from the ocean. How did I spend summers when I was younger? Hmm, well probably how lots of kids spend them. Lots of swimming, and hanging out with friends. My sister and I would play outside a lot and adventure. Camps sometimes, like horseback riding camp and regular sleep-away camp. For about 4-5 weeks of the summer we stayed with family in Nova Scotia (the same family we visited again this year). I think summer is the best time of the year. But what about you? What were your favourite things to do as a kid in the summer??

Hey! :) How's it going? Most of the books I read I just stumble upon. If the sound interesting I may try them. Sometimes I'll read what my friends or others recommend me. So how about it? Do you have any good books you want to tell me about? I always like trying new things.
Yeah, when we cottage we usually go to a lake. Though my sister and I went to my aunt's and instead of camping we all went to a friend's cottage which is on the Atlantic ocean. That was a lot of fun.
Thanks for you input. I think eventually I will get around to watching it but at the moment I have some catching up to do with Shingeki no Kyojin, and I still want to see Monogatari. So anything new happen to you in the two weeks since we last spoke? Hope August is treating you right, lol. It's getting cooler here already. Fall is already on the way unfortunately -_-
