MEMENTO MORI - Remember, you will die.

Story:
The fourth and final installment in the Persona 3 movie tetralogy is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. The story in the fourth movie is nothing short of spectacular. It opens right where the third movie left off, and puts the characters in a depressing situation. They are faced with the end of the world, but not in the usual hollywood movie sense. they know it's coming, and it seems as if there's nothing they can do about it. They face death head on and everyone reacts to it differently. By the end of the movie, you ... have this feeling that you've watched a complete story unfold, which makes the ending of the film series feel thought out and planned well by the storywriters. I cannot praise this movie enough, it's phenomenal.

Art:
For my reviews of the past 2 movies, I've said that the art is just good. In this movie, however, the art is downright fucking outstanding. The final movie is everything I could have asked for and more in terms of artwork. Because of the depressing nature of the story, some parts have a very limited colour palette, which is really effective at conveying the tone of the story. The world is bleak, and there's seemingly nothing our protagonists can do about it. When the characters are able to find the motivation to keep fighting, the colour style changes into a gorgeous sunrise aesthetic that adds so much to the movie.

Sound:
The music in this movie is an eargasm at it's finest. The ending credits song in this movie is a remix of the game's credits song (Memories of You) and it carries just as much, if not more weight than in the game. There's also the main theme of the movie called My Testimony which perfectly captures the emotions of the movie. There are also many other fantastic songs in this movie, but I won't bother listing them all here.
I also want to mention the absolutely fantastic performance of all the voice cast in this movie. I played the English version of the game, but I have to shout out how effective the Japanese VAs were at making these characters feel alive.

Character:
One of the strongest aspects of this movie are the beautifully written characters that make it shine. They all have incredible development throughout the movie and it's hard not to love them by the end. The main character especially went from an aloof and quiet person in the first movie, to a more open, but still quiet personality in the second, to a closed off and distanced person in the third movie, and now to a complete character who's found his own reason to keep on going in a cruel world.

Enjoyment:
Put simply, this movie is one of my favourite movies of all time. It's an astoundingly good story about the inevitability of death and the meaning of life. while the rest of the movie series may have not been perfect, with rushed pacing and some minor cut content, the final movie in the series is an outstanding piece of entertainment that far exceeds the source material to tell a beautiful story.

COGITO ERGO SUM - I think, therefore I am.

Story:
The third installment in the Persona 3 movie tetralogy has a difficult job of juggling multiple moving parts within the story, which is justifiably tough. unfortunately, the pacing of the movie suffers this, especially since it's the shortest movie in the persona 3 movie series. It makes up for the fast pacing by putting a lot of emphasis on the new character of Ryoji, who I'll get to in a second. The movie does end on a cliffhanger, but it isn't a real problem for me, since it only invigorates interest in the 4th movie.

Art:
I think you ... understand by now that this movie series has good animation. There really isn't much else to say in this regard.

Sound:
The music in this movie is also splendid, and always adds to the tension or emotion. I especially think that the ending credits song was fitting, and Lotus Juice does an outstanding job as always.

Character:
I mentioned earlier that this movie has a focus on the new character of Ryoji. A character who will be especially important in the 4th movie. His main development within this movie is regarding his priceless interactions with the main protagonist, who is emotionally distant from people after the events of the second movie. This movie also develops Junpei's character arc to make him a more fleshed out character, which is nice considering that he's my favourite character from the original game.

CARPE DIEM - Seize the day.

Story:
The second installment in the Persona 3 tetralogy takes a different approach to the story compared to the first movie. while the first movie took the first part of the story and make it into a mini character arc for the main protagonist, the second movie puts the focus off the characters established in the first movie and gives the new characters a chance to shine, and shine they do. The pacing is solid, but brought down by the not-so-good pacing of the source material, meaning that entire months are often skipped for no apparent reason.

Art:
There isn't really much to ... say about the art that I haven't already said in the first movie's review. outstanding use of colours and lighting which makes it easier for the audience to engage with the story.

Sound:
Again, not really much to say here. The music is fantastic, with the credits song in particular elevating the emotions of the movie.

Characters:
As I said earlier, the first P3 movie puts a focus on the characters that it did establish, while this movie puts more focus on the newer characters. The extra screen time given to Ken, Shinjiro, Aigis, and Koromaru all serve to make the movie a more focused narrative and make the later events that much more emotionally painful.

Story:
Being the first installment in a four-part series of movies adapting the persona 3 game, this movie has the task of adapting possibly the least narratively interesting part of the game. Of course, it still does this quite well, but the pacing is little bit funky. Things seem to be moving very fast, except when there's a specific action scene, where they take the appropriate amount of time they need. I think the pacing was done quite well during the climax, but it still left a fair bit to be desired when it brushes over a school exam in ... less than 30 seconds.

Art:
Because this is an anime movie with a higher average budget than a tv series, it would naturally have a higher quality of animation. This alone explains why the animation in this movie is so damn beautiful. It not only portrays the characters' facial expressions well, but it goes above and beyond in making such pretty animation to the point where you get a highly detailed shot of a coffee can. I can't commend enough the brilliant work done by AIC. The later movies in this film series are animated by A1 pictures, and from what I can tell, there's almost no visual difference between this movie and the others. At least from the trailers.

Sound:
This movie mainly includes the OST featured in the base Persona 3 game, but it also has a few original songs, such as a brand new remix of the game's opening 'burn my dread' and the ending song 'more than one heart'. I in particular love the ending credits song, since it has such a happy feeling to it in an otherwise dark plot.
The voice acting in this movie is clear and succinct, as well as being fitting for the characters. I would have preferred if there was some sort of English dub for these movies, but I'm not mad that there isn't one.

Character:
For the most part, the characters from the P3 game are intact, with little significant changes made to them. The only exception to this being the main protagonist, who has had significant characterization in this movie series. The first movie portrays him as an aloof, blunt person who has the potential to be empathetic and caring when he needs to be. There is character development shown in the first movie, but it isn't the entire package, just enough to satisfy it's 100 minute run time.
