(Maybe the mods can ask if I finished it *before* deleting my review? K thanks)
Pros: The art is very good, as well as the animation. They combined CG and 2D very well whenever you see a train. There's nothing wrong with the audio, but I don't exactly know what great audio is supposed to sound like. These things pull it up from a 1 to a 2, because I don't want to insult the art team, who most likely had nothing to do with the many issues with this series. Prepare for gore as well. Hair pulling gore, which for me is a plus.
Cons: If
...
you want bad writing, an unoriginal concept, trope filled, and often cookie cutter characters, on top of literally being a re-skinned version of attack on titan in almost every conceivable way: THIS IS THE SHOW FOR YOU!!
Now replacing the genuinely refreshing idea of giants with the most extremely abused enemy of all time: Zombies. Not just any zombies, but inconsistent ones, we're talking slow as a snail one second, to (not kidding) 100MPH full sprint, with no excuse. They never acknowledge this, they simply change speeds depending on plot convenience. It's extremely ridiculous and blatant.
Basically, if you *REALLY* like the attack on titan formula, this is for you. But you won't be getting anything new, no original characters, nothing you won't expect. If you haven't scene attack on titan, I think I'd recommend that over this. But that might be because I hadn't seen literally this exact story already, so it was actually original to me. As well as giants being more interesting than the hundredth zombie rendition.
We have the main character, dude who is sick of not being able to fight the force that trapping humanity behind walls, just like AOT. We have the extremely over powered female character, just like AOT. We have the guy that is always a dick to the main character, but of course is just trying to do the right thing, and of course is really a good guy, just like AOT (you get the idea, it's all like AOT). We also have the useless best friend character, who's special ability is yelling about how he's his friend.
I won't get into the spoilery reasons why this show is exactly like AOT, but take my damn word. I can't even... They *tried* to make this the same thing, they didn't even want to hide it.
Also, the token super powered girl wasn't as annoying in AOT, so there's that. That being said, in this show there's actually half a reason why she's so strong (even though she's still inexplicably stronger than someone else with this excuse), in AOT it's just a female power fantasy, with no excuse. So choose your poison.
