Yes if they cut out some of the fillers they wouldn't need more but those are always fun, I do like short anime series because I can finish them in 1 or 2 days and while I did enjoy it a lot there were some parts that just went by so suddenly. Also i thought they did manage to do a good job of using all the genres they did.

nice angel beats review, you're right when you say the story you wanted just wasn't there, I was a little peeved that they had otonashi just simply fall in love with angel like that and there could've been so much more in the series if they had made more episodes and put more into each of the events.
