Hey Darkness! I've been watching D. Grayman and I like it! It starts out a little light but then starts to turn dark...and more mature. I recommend it. Gyah! Your manga habits have gotten as bad as mine. Do you remember when we were just starting to get into the habit. Most of the habit started up with Merciliess...I still keep up with her manga list...she's got so much good stuff there!

LoL, you are probably right about already having enough anime to watch for the rest of your life, I probably already have at least a good five years worth to watch. But still if they stopped producing anime/manga in Japan I'm assuming you mean, then it would be a horrible loss to their culture. And if the R1 just lost its distributors, then there is still a healthy fan-subbing community at the moment, but who knows they could eventually lose interest, but I guess as long as their is a demand and supply they will always be around though.

I've looked into both Vagabond and Phonenix before. I will definitely give them a try when ever I finish Blade of the Immortal and Adolf/MW.

I never been a big fan of Case Closed that little boy I'm annoyed by the boy kid genius for some reason. Rozen Maiden is pretty good but you have to be in right mood as I've experienced.

I haven't given up that FUNimation will eventually license and release the next installments of D.Gray-man so I haven't turned to fansubbs yet, but there's not telling how long it will take for my resolve to weaken. Viz media has lost there campaign with me in regards to the series Monster. It looks like it didn't sell as well as they had hoped. Disappointing it's a good series.

As for the Getbackers, well at least it was fairly cheap and it's not like I haven't wasted my time with bad anime before. It looks like I will be a practicing masochist again for a while if it's as bad you said.

Haven't spoken in a while so I dropped by your page. It appears that you've started the Getbackers. I'm waiting for the series to arrive in the mail. I found the price too intoxicating to pass up. I've heard mixed things about the series in the past. But the same director of Samurai X(RK:T) did it so I thought I should give it a try. I see you didn't really like Zipang. I recently acquired that title too but am now a little hesitant in starting it seeing you only gave it a five. I hope GetBackers turns out to be a worth the money and time.

I noticed you were thinking of starting D.Gray-Man. It's pretty dark for a kid show, but it is still aimed like many anime towards a teen audience. I've found the darker elements to be well worth the money, but the fight scene's are a little static at first. It kinda has a Bleach formula or classic shounen one, that basically builds the main characters strength as the series continues and continues to develop the plot slowly. Some of the characters are annoying but, the animation is good and the story line is engaging. The main plot of the series doesn't really become interesting until later. The series does merit some worth in my opinion and is one of the more solid franchises. There are many very solid episodes, but of course with long series there is also some filler, which I read later becomes very important to the overall story. There are some moments though that this series touches some very evil shit, very occult behavior on the part of the Millennium earl and his followers. The evil Akuma become very unimaginative in the first twenty episodes, but as they evolve and new enemies are introduced the series begins to take on a more sinister and interesting aspect. I haven't read the manga so I couldn't tell you how well the Animation follows it, but from what I've read it stays pretty true. I've seen very mixed reviews by people about the Animation, I get the feeling that since the manga is naturally black and white and the series largely takes place at night, that it has a much darker feeling than the Animation. However, I did do a little reading for you and discovered mix opinions. Casey Brienza, reviewer from ANN gave the art and A- and the animation a b-. She doesn't appear to have any technical animation or art background but appears to be highly recognized in the manga writing reporting world. I would probably be more of a centrist and say that the art and animation were slightly above average so B- for both seems about right to me. It appears that sentiments around the net and here on MAL seem to be in agreement that the series feels very generic at first but doesn't pick up it's stride until later in the series. Basically it started getting interesting for me and FUNimation started dragging their feet on licensing the third season even though it appeared to be a strong seller. Personally I'm still being the eager fan and waiting for FUNimation or someone to license the third season before continuing, you know me since I've started collecting the series I feel obligated to finish collecting it on dvd. I've been waiting since January for any news but FUNimation as of late seems to be concentrating on titles that are oriented towards an older view on who the Anime Fans are, which is basically teen age boys. If you look at there may releases you'll see it basically dominated with franchises that made them tons of money in the past and or re-releases of shit they have had in their catalogs that they couldn't get to sell for the prices they were demanding. Basically they aren't doing what their business strategy used to be. Which is distribute shows that have good story lines and solid animation. It appears that the dominant player has fallen off its horse. While it has licensed some great titles, it still lingers on with actually producing them. May seems to be the month of Cased Closed, and Dragon Ball. The only title they hooked me on this month was Rozen Maiden, I mean common who doesn't like sadist little dolls fighting epic battles, and of course I found both seasons for very cheap on sale at rightstuf so.... I've even heard rumors that they where thinking about subbing dvd's because of their lack revenue of due to their lack of insight into producing and releasing quality titles they supposedly have in their catalog. Stuff like Seta no Hanayome and of course the continuation of D.Gray-Man and a few other titles I've forgotten about. Hope you are well.

Hey Darkness. Yeah, I dropped it. Its not that it was that bad, I just did not find anything really special about the series. It kind of reminded me of "Chrono Crusade" (which I liked better). Each episode seemed to just limp along. It felt like the creators made it 100+ episodes long to sell more DVD's. A long series with light story content makes for long tiring episodes. I did not read the manga so I can't compare with that and I did only watch 14 episodes (about 2 disks worth) so it might get better, but it was repeating a (somewhat tiring) pattern that I've seen many time before. For a series that's 100+ episodes which is a lot of time to invest. Now, this is my onion only. I do not want to offend any of you DGM lovers out there. Check out a few episodes and let me know what you think. I might return to it later.

That made me laugh pretty hard. Ya I remember when I first began this journey that I never believed I'd come this far. The Journey I'm speaking of was attempting to finish ANN's top 100 series. It's funny though how the Journey has changed so much since we started AnimeZone, NTZ and of course MAL.
