This anime had some cute moments but the graphics are horrible. I don't normally mind them, but it was worse than 90's anime. I don't know if this was a smaller project or what but the expressions weren't there and the proportions were odd. I was so distracted by the art I ignored the story. If you are looking for a well-written story with character development this is NOT it. That said, this anime leaned HEAVILY into the MC trope of OP. It made it funny as heck.

This is a peaceful slice-of-life type of anime. There is no massive story besides trying to save the aquarium, and each character has a side story. The story is straight forward and the characters have zero to little development. I liked the first 10 episodes, but I found Kukuru annoying. As the show progressed she stayed greedy, unyielding, childish, and pushed herself onto others. With every season I watch this anime get's worse. I don't really know what I'm supposed to be interested in. They have made Mo Fan pretty much superman. I really enjoyed this anime, more than I should have. The story is lacking in material and the characters don't really develope. The anime starts out as if will be story-driven but then becomes only about food. There are a few character relationships fleshed out, but even then they are... kinda empty. I like this anime... but I also have issues with it.
Spoilers (kinda). The main character is Sayu, a female and she goes through a lot after she runs away from home. The anime deals with sex, borderline prostitution of an underage teenager, and possibly rape. People who read the novel said there were worse things that happened. I did not read it but just let it be known. Sayu said she had nowhere to go or no one to help her... but she does have a brother who ends up being kind to her and says he cares for her. Wtf was he before the story ...

Kaji is a piece of crap. Sure the story ends well... be he straight up ran from everything in his life and messed up everyone else's. He also raped Haruki. WTF. WHY IS THAT OKAY to people?! Why does Haruki say he consented? He didn't. Kaji... you are trash. If you read through the manga he is an even worse piece of crap. I don't care if someone tries to turn their life around, that doesn't mean it makes everything they did okay.
There are SO many other animes that have better stories, with romance, that is about music. I liked the original anime so ...

Is the writer scraping the bottom of the barrel?
I don't mind tsundere characters or even ones that semi-pick non the opposite character only to find out they like them. But Nagatoro is straight-up bullying the sh*t out of the guy- and you know she "likes" him. If he actually falls for her then this story is literally an abusive romance. I STRUGGLED through 4 episodes, and there is no amount of recovery in the next 8 that could make this a decent story. It's cringe, the characters are shallow and I have nothing to say besides the art, but even then there is nothing special about ... |
