tiny evil is a very short series consisting of only 4 episodes, which are split into two separate parts. the first part is, with no exaggeration, one of the best stories ever told through an animated feature ever. it touches upon many themes such as loneliness and relationships and depression, and there's not a moment to be seen where the action stops. every minute is filled with non-stop excitement and clearly shows the developments in the otherworldly relationship between takeshi and miyu. the ending is one of the most satisfying and gratifying conclusions too, it's a very touching and heartwarming feature, i can wholeheartedly say
...
that it's one of the closest anime i've ever seen come to perfection. just perfect.
unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the second part. firstly, it has a complete change of cast and setting and everything really, which can be very jarring coming right from the first part. secondly, it features a lot of very weird plot points and moments, and i don't mean weird as in quirky or abstract, i mean "what-the-hell-how-has-this-ever-been-made" kind of weird, and finally - and most importantly - it just isn't as good as the first part. although who can blame it really, the first part set the bar so unbelievably high.
overall, a very very good and very very short anime, though the first part is exponentially better than the second. i'd definitely recommend, it's a very touching anime that covers a variety of difficult and complex themes whilst delivering a lot of very positive messages in only 4 episodes. and hey, if you don't like it (for whatever reason), it's only taken just over an hour of your time. just perfect.
