With the new season upon us, I thought I'd take the time to re-write a review I once deleted.
There may be very minor spoilers, so please, be aware.
Ah, Kamisama Kiss. My one and eternal anime-enemy. I didn't think much when starting it, and just thought of it as another one of those shoujo girl-meets-supernatural guy and falls in love. Well, I wasn't necessarily wrong on that aspect. However, diving into it as the episodes moved along, I noticed disturbingly nostalgic details that I've seen before.
Story (60/100)—Nothing too exciting. A regular high school girl gets thrust into a world she is unfamiliar with, and

has to deal with taking the task of handling the moody male main character, having two other men ogling after her, and her feelings overall in the situation. You'd think a supernatural series about a girl unexpectedly becoming a deity would be extremely interesting.
Kamisama, is however, not that, unfortunately.
As I mentioned before, Kamisama shares traits with one of the anime world's most beloved series—InuYasha. It is not only the story that shares similarities, but the characters and settings as well. I'll try not to drag this review out too long, however, this was the main reason I couldn't enjoy KH. It was too similar. And by that, I don't mean the girl with powers falls in love with demon. I mean almost every detail was, in some way, from InuYasha. That turned me off instantly, and I dropped it after episode 6, or so. However, keeping an open mind, I picked it up, and finished it once more.
Art (90/100)—The art is beautiful, I'll admit. The animation was fluid, pretty, and flowery—typical of a shoujo. When scenes, such as in the first episode, that tried to have a more 'dark' atmosphere, failed a bit miserably. This series is just a bit too light-hearted to be taken seriously with darker moments. The character designs were a bit generic, however, they were very pretty to look at. One complain I have is that all the girls had an eternal blush—which was very annoying. Other than that, my grievances with the art is very small.
Sound (80/100)—The sound was crisp, however, I personally did not enjoy the flowery soundtrack. That is my opinion, but as all series, the soundtracks fit well with what they are assigned to. The seiyuus did an amazing job, despite some of them having very annoying voices. I personally enjoyed hearing Tachibana as Tomoe, as I was used to his high-pitched wailing that is Chiaki from Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi.
Character (50/100)— Flat, one-dimensional, and lackluster is what I have to say of these characters. Nanami is a typical shoujo protagonist. In fact, she mirrored that of InuYasha's Kagome—which is to no surprise, as I despised Kagome as well. Not only in back-story, but personality as well. I won't go too into detail on these aspects, though, to avoid making this review even longer.
Tomoe is like KH's InuYasha. In appearance, past, and personality. He is the typical shoujo male-protagonist that the girl falls for.
Overall(60/100)—Overall, I did not enjoy this series. It could have been executed so much better, had it not refused to have surgery to be removed as InuYasha's conjoined twin. The new season is doing a much better job of steering away from InuYasha, and thus far, am much more impressed with it.

Story (60/100) With all 3 OVA's together, it equals to an overall of 60. After seeing the first OVA, titled Isle's Journal, I had hope for the next OVA. Then I heard they were tacking on another OVA, to make it three in all...
Isle's Journal- By far the most interesting OVA. Hell, even better than the original series itself. You delve into an episode that happens in between episode 3 and 4 (If I am thinking correctly) of the original series. Levi goes on an adventure. Sounds interesting, right? Well, it is. done without Levi's squad. I mean, Aluo's damn gag reel of biting his tongue was annoying as hell. (-5 points)
OVA #2- I don't even know what this one was named, but I don't care, because this episode was REALLY unnecessary. I have 3 words: Uneventful, unnecessary, fan service. This. This was really stupid. I'm sorry, but it was. (-10 points). It focuses on Jean, who they make the MC. Sounds...cool, right? For Jean fans, at least. They all decided to have a cook off like its Hell's Kitchen, which made no sense at all, and the animators thought, “Hey, remember those supposedly funny scenes Isayama did in the manga? Let's add those in random spots so this episode makes no sense whatsoever.” (-5 points).
OVA #3- OK, this one was a bit better than the last one, but was easily crushed by Isle's Journal in the interesting factor.
“Important girl gets kidnapped by men and needs to be saved by everyone's teamwork” cliché (-5 points), “Mikasa/Annie ex machina” (-5 points), “Character stops others from killing bad guys because feelings” cliché (-5 points)
No half-aked Armin (-5 points) -Seriously, we get a Mikasa working out scene in the previous episode, but no Armin? Screw you animators. I'm tired of femservice. ME WANT MANSERVICE.
Character (55/100)
There really isn't any character. (-10 points) I mean, except Isle, who was interesting. In OVA 2, we get to see a bit of Jean's past, and suddenly, Jean is a dick to his mom! “MC is lucky enough his parents aren't dead, but still treats them like shit until the end when he realizes his mistake”. (-10 points). Why is he a dick? Did I miss something? (-5 points)
Krista is useless as usual. (-5 points)
Not enough Armin, too much Mikasa (-5 points)
In reality, the characters are still 2D cardboard. Their 3DMG is more developed than them. (-10 points)
Visuals (85/100)
Not gonna lie, Snk has some good art, but it was wasted on that second OVA. (-5 points)
Mikasa and Marco need to be signed up with a hair commercial, because those scenes were sort of awkward to watch. (-5 points)
Reused 3DMG scenes from original series. What, can't make new scenes? (-5 points)
Audio (85/100) Audio and voice acting was done very well. Don't care for the OP. I don't need Armin to narrate everything for me, too. (-5 points)
I don't remember any of the OST's except for one, which I still can't find. (-10 points)
Enjoyment and Final Scoring (71/100) 60+55+85+85+70=355/5=71
I'm not a big fan of SnK. And these OVA's didn't change my mind about it either. But, I recommend this toward any SnK fan, as you guys would love it, of course.

Story (70/100) The Case of Yokozawa Takafumi is by all means no masterpiece. In reality, it is far from it. It is filled with cliché moments found scattered all about in the Boys' Love genre, and Nakamura is no stranger when it comes to said cliché. (-10 points). When you look at it as a whole, if this was any regular story, it would be rated extremely low. But since this is the ever-so popular BL genre, it is safe. You start out with Yokozawa awaking in a stranger's house. Seems...okay, right?

Well, YtnB stays like that throughout the whole movie.
'Okay'. Nothing too exciting happens. Man meets another by accident (in this case, they sort of knew each other), they hang out for awhile (in actuality, Yokozawa was blackmailed), and love sprouts off-screen, instead of showing them actually falling in love. (-5 points). This is where I thought it might have been better as a 4 episode OVA. I dislike how Yokozawa gained affection for Kirishima off-screen. Over the course of what seemed a few days, or maybe even weeks by the minute. (-5 points).
After falling in love, of course there is a huge conflict that keeps them from confessing. It always happens. Whether it be a past lover/break-up, misinterpreted cheating or anything else in the bag of cliché. (-5 points). In the end, they live happily ever after. (-5 points).
Character (85/100) Despite all its' cliché story ideas, Yokozawa is by far one of Nakamura's best characters. He acts like a true person when it comes to breakups and love. No one is able to get over your first love so quickly like most BL show. You can see Yokozawa's inner dialogue throughout the story, and you understand why he is the way he is. Why he is so rude. Why he is unapproachable. His gentle side, too. Although I dislike how Yokozawa is tsundere, and even Kirishima points that out.(-5 points).
Kirishima is your typical seme (-5 points). but with a twist;He has a daughter. And he loves his daughter. He wants the best for her, like any caring dad. His constant antics toward Yokozawa are quite amusing, as well. But he does them for a reason. That doesn't take away that he's a typical topper, though.
You have your other known characters as well, such as Takano and Ritsu. It sort of goes into their relationship as well, but what Ritsu tells Yokozawa is unlike him. (-5 points). I can't just see Ritsu up and telling Yokozawa what he did.
Visuals (80/100) I'm not really a fan of Nakamura, so for me, that retracts 5 points. (-5 points). But the visuals were done very nicely.
Now the bad things. Typical. BL. Bodies. HUGE hands, tiny heads, and odd proportional bodies. (-10 points). . Some of the movements looked weird because of their distorted bodies. They weren't fluid because of it. (-5 points).
Audio (95/100) Audio was done very well. I don't really complain when it comes to audio, though. Everyone's voices fit perfectly fine. I don't remember any of the OST's, if there were any. (-5 points).
Enjoyment and Final Scoring (82/100) 70+85+80+95+80=410/5=82
Overall, it was a nice movie to pass the time, and since I'm a sucker for BL, I had to watch it, seeing as how there are barely any adaptations of BL manga. If you love Nakamura and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi, I recommend this. If not, and you are just a BL fan, then dive right in.
