Before getting into details, I'll summarize: this anime could have been more objective.
There are too many long sequences that get lost from the main story, making the experience tiring until the events really start to unfold.
The story is acceptable, but nothing memorable, and it hurts to say that, considering the huge potential this anime had, specially having its storyline between Gundam 0079 and Zeta Gundam.
By the first episodes, things are quite clear, the goals are comprehensible and the events are justifiable by the plot, however, as the episodes advance, things start to unfold in unclear ways, with turn of events that weren't well
...
built and that didn't affect the main plot in any relevant way, with characters that weren't developed at all showing up as possible antagonists or villains, leaving some confusion to the story. Man important events are only mentioned while in my opinion it would be important they were shown so things would be clearer. In some moments, I was unsure of what was going on.
The art is fair, nothing too good, nothing bad, but I think they could have invested a bit more in certain moments, we get many takes that have no movement at all, action takes with parts that were used more than once and some battle scenes just don't make it clear what's happening. By the other hand, some moments are amazing, with great direction, emotion and well animated combat scenes; all of this gave me the impression the energy of the creators was intensely focused in some specific moments of the animation while other moments didn't get the attention they deserved.
The sound, in my opinion, is one of the best things about this anime. The openings are very well directed, the songs are very good and well used along the episodes.
The characters maybe are the elements I liked the less, unfortunately. A lot of screen time is spent with characters that really have no objective or relevance to the main story, with conflicts that go nowhere and some romantic subplots that sounded out of place in my view. They could have focused more in fewer characters and develop them better. After 13 episodes we still know so little even about the main characters, some of them sound empty when it comes to reason or motivation. A lot of time spent with mecha details like doors opening or ships taking flight/landing that don't add much to the story could have been invested in the main characters, whose past is only mentioned and barely showed.
I did enjoy watching this anime, but mainly during the first episodes and then the last episodes, with the middle of the story making me a bit tired, it felt a bit dull for me, since the story sounded lost in circles, giving us subplots that wouldn't take the characters or the story anywhere. Some "romantic" moments sounded out of place for me, and to be honest, with the magnitude of the events of the story, anything romantic needed to be very well written and executed to fit in, and the impression I got was that part was superficial, with a confusing turn of events that also didn't take the story anywhere, I also feel bad for that, since the characters did have potential to be better developed, as well as the links between them. I feel the story got a bit lost and they had to rush things in the last 3 episodes. The characters' growth to me was minimum, if present, they seem all the same from episode 1 to episode 13. I really wanted to see more of the story of characters like Gato and Kou, in this case, more about Gato's past and the kind of person he is and more about Kou's future. In my opinion, there has to be a good cohesion between the characters, the story and the events, and that cohesion is a bit loose in Gundam 0083, the characters seemed a bit lost in the story in my perception, and it's sad because they had so much potential, if certain things had been executed differently in this anime, maybe if it had less episodes and focused more in the relevant events and character development.
Still, I'm a fan, I liked this anime and I think Gundam fans and mecha fans might like it. I really enjoy playing games where Kou and Gato are playable and I absolutely love the songs of this anime. Gundam 0083 can be interesting and fun, but I wish it was more objective and focused more in what mattered, like the main storyline and character development.

The story is very good, revolutionary back when the Gundam franchise came to be, introducing us to a futuristic age and its conflicts. Everything mecha is very well designed and the battle/war moments are very brutal, clear and intense, however, the character design is a bit poor.
The characters seem to get less attention than the mechas and the action scenes, so those who like vehicles, giant robots and the impact of violent, powerful battles will appreciate it more than those who were expecting great character design. To me, it's a very important work when we talk about the Gundam franchise and the world of mecha
...
animes and mangas, many different works definitely got inspired by the ideas and styles Gundam gave us, and the own franchise grew and evolved with time, giving us amazing titles and many yet to come. This manga gets my respect, it worked with concepts that still were barely discovered and very unexplored back then.

It's a work of art.
The story sounds simple at first, however, as things advance, it gets more and more complex, with more and more layers and the characters have so much importance that their own stories make the general, background story even richer. For those who read the manga and know more than what the anime shows, this first season only got to introduce a little of what the big story of Lost Canvas is.
The art is amazing, the animation is perfect, the colors, the angles, the way the scenes were directed. The art is basically alive, being creepy when it has to, being pretty
...
and soft when it needs, and also very violent and brutal when it has to be. The voice acting and sound effects are very good, but I missed the intensity and tragedy of the background music the older Saint Seiya animes offered us, however, definitely it's more than the basic, it makes the anime richer.
The characters are the best thing about Lost Canvas in my opinion. Even support characters get the respect and attention they deserve, everyone is important somehow and most of them get some background, development and a proper closing, when it's the case. The support characters that didn't get that in these episodes definitely got more attention in "season 2" or in the manga.
I loved the facts the story it's not "unilateral protagonist" like, every character has a role.
I had a lot of fun watching, honestly, I wanted more, too bad this anime didn't get the success it deserved.

In my opinion, a true masterpiece. I just can't find excuses to not rate it 10. The story is extremely rich, the art (characters, the coloring, the angles, the action moments, the dialogues), the characters' development, everything is 10 to me. I wanted so many animes to get a manga like this. I don't have words to describe how immersive reading this was. The complex story, the political drama, the battles, the context, everything is so well explained and in such an epic way!
Even support characters like Garma got more background, we got a little bit of some slice of life of Char and
...
how did he become the Red Comet, what motivated him, his backstory and so much more. I love how this mange made Gundam 0079 even richer. The way the characters are so human and realistic is incredible, they way we get to see people with their own interests, dreams, battles and ambitions is wow. A great way to get to know the franchise, I love every volume.

Where it all began. The birth of a franchise. The context, the world, the complexity and the mechas definitely were something new, at least in the way the anime worked these elements out.
The story is very good, imagined a new age of technology with spaceships, mechas, conflicts, geopolitical changes and how wars could work in a different, futuristic time.
The way the characters' journeys get dragged by the events, the way interests make them collide against each other and the many messages and the many questions this anime gives us, such as "would these characters fight each other had they met in a different way?". It's
...
great how it shows how in wars you never have a perfect side, there's darkness in both sides, there's light in both sides, and how war is disgraceful, tragic and how innocent people always get caught up in the destruction caused by it, and after it ends, people are either dead or broken, with at least part of their lives taken by the misery of war.
The sound and the art: it would be unfair to judge them comparing with the animation and sound technology we have today. Comparing to today's audiovisual technology, the animation and sounds effects are poor, however, for 1979, they were acceptable, and most importantly, they were enough to tell us the story Gundam 0079 wanted to tell. The songs however, they're absolutely astonishing, they're among my favorites, specially Encounter and the song that closes the last episode. The characters are good, specially Char and Amuro. Some support characters also have their small arcs and their personalities are quite different, making the story richer. It was a good experience watching it, after some time watching, I caught myself ignoring the old animation due to my immersion in the story. I also followed the anime's story through video games and manga, and it's really good, I wish Gundam Origins got animated from the first to the last page so we could get a good reboot from this series.

An amazing work of art, I want Gundam 0079 and Zeta Gundam rebooted in this style, with this quality, oh how I want the entire Gundam Origins manga brought into life like this.
The story is political, complex and the characters fit really well into it. The context is full of layers, so anyone not interested in any complex storyline could get a bit bored, however, it's very interesting to watch it develop, it's very worth it taking time to understand the world Gundam Origins has to offer.
The animation is outstanding, the CGI is very well used and the art of the characters, of the ships,
...
of the mobile suits, of the space...flawless, it's beautiful to watch.
The sound effects and voice acting are great, as well as the music and the OSTs and I won't score it higher only because I think they could have used some stronger and deeper music, to make the impacting events feel even more intense.
The characters: I believe it's the best aspect of Gundam Origins. The way we get to comprehend Char and see his story is very satisfying and I'm sure Gundam fans really wanted that for quite some time since Gundam 0079. The anime is full of antagonists and they were worked in a very interesting ways, with strong personalities and many layers as well.
I had a very good time watching it, of course, it's not a happy show to make you laugh and have fun, it has a deep, heavy aura around it and it's a true work of art, a gift for Gundam fans, specially those who loved the original series back in the 80's, but it can be very enjoyable and interesting for those who don't know the Gundam franchise yet.

The tournament season of shonen animes.
I liked how they used that to develop the characters more, and I like how they managed to do that with many characters, not just the protagonist and one antagonist like most animes do.
The way power, strategy and friendship are combined is very captivating, but to me, this season was very cliche, despite in my opinion, Boku no Hero being different from most shonen animes.
I also found the way they show us the background of some characters very interesting, because their past isn't there just to justify their actions, it's clear how their past hurt them, affect them, change them,
...
and we get to see all these emotions and dreams colliding, the characters understand they're not the only one who's special or who have a reason or a dream to fight for. Despite superficially sounding like a cliche shounen anime, I feel this season has more than that to offer, when you look closely, you'll see how the character development is way more interesting than the story itself, and to me, that's what makes Boku no Hero so interesting, the characters.
Of course, all that is supported with a very good animation. The music and sound effects are good as well, but nothing exceptional. I was fun to watch, but to be honest, nothing new. Many animes already did the tournament saga and certain things do get predictable. The point here is: it's an important part of the growth of the characters and that's what makes it fun, in my opinion.

A shounen anime with an approach I had never seen before. In my opinion, they took character development to another level.
The story is very interesting, the context in which the characters are inserted is complex and I identified so much with the protagonists in many different aspects.
I love how this anime works with cliches: there are characters that do represent the classic cliches, however, they're way more complex that that, only their shell seem like the cliche, but they're complex and intense and way more than what they seem to be.
The art, including the animation, the battles, the character design is very good, beautiful, dynamic
...
and expressive, the colors are very well used. The voice acting, the sounds effects and the songs (openings, endings) are good, but I didn't find them outstanding, they're enough, they work well with the scenes. Something interesting about this anime is that it works many characters at the same time, and in my opinion, it manages to make fans feel empathy for them. The characters aren't superficial, each one has their own problems, their own advantages and they all grow through the story, they grow in power and in personality, becoming more mature, finding out more about themselves. Of course some supporting characters' development is not as well explored as the most central characters, but as a season 1, it introduced them in a very efficient way.
The pace is very good, not too slow, not too fast, I found the anime very inspiring and very different from usual shonen animes, the protagonist isn't the usual extroverted, even reckless protagonist, actually, quite the opposite in many aspects, and that made things really interesting in my opinion.
It was really fun and inspiring watching it.

Very intense and very brutal, giving us the historic context of feudal Japan, the social consequences and the interesting, dramatic stories of fictional characters. The art, the OSTs and the BGMs are outstanding, the characters are complex, conflicting and interesting, I had a good time watching and the quality of the work is very good.
The animation is very good, very brutal, emotional and expressive, the new style suited these OVAs really well, they're more intense, more serious, more dense, sad and violent, and all those elements are well used, it's not random violence for no reason, it has a special role in character development and
...
historic approach.

The story is very good, showing the historic events of Japan along with very interesting fictional characters that indirectly also represent historical elements and social consequences of the revolutions Japan went through. In my opinion, the best story arc is the Kyoto one (Shishio), it's the center of the main story. The first episodes show shorter independent stories to introduce the main characters, I particularly found them enjoyable, however, they aren't as good as the Kyoto arc. After the Kyoto arc, the anime took a different path from the manga, all the other seasons being fillers, some with independent stories lasting just one or two
...
episodes, others with long sequences of episodes. These fillers seasons do have interesting fights and show many interesting historic elements, however, in my opinion, they aren't as interesting as season 1, the characters don't get the development I believe they deserved, important characters don't show up as much anymore and things get a bit tiring- as a Rurouni Kenshin fan, I did love watching every episode and I liked them very much, however, they're not episodes I want to re-watch two or three times, unlike the Kyoto arc. The art is amazing, the openings and ending are very good, with historic and pop elements, beautiful colors and messages, the animation is very good, the fights are very well animated (considering when the anime was released, of course). The sound effects, OSTs and BGMs are very good, very emotional, very intense, they fit really well with the psychological environments, truly an amazing work. The characters have a spectacular growth along the Kyoto arc, and not just the protagonist grows, we also see support characters and antagonists evolving their mindset and their skills along the journey in a very good, inspiring way, however, all that development seems to get slower and slower during the filler season. I had a great time watching Rurouni Kenshin, specially the first episodes. The filler sagas got more and more tiring for me, however, I still enjoyed them because I like the anime and the characters. The quality of the story and the historical context is very good, but quality doesn't necessarily mean enjoyment- I find the "shonen" approach we see in season 1 and 2 way more fun than the next seasons because it becomes more dramatic and emotional and less fun in the comedic sense, and well, the anime doesn't give us the original manga story and also doesn't give itself a proper closing, it just ends, and in my opinion, it's fine that way, the end of a very long sequence of fillers that have interesting stories, but, in my perception, nothing outstanding or great, just...enjoyable stories with good quality, but that didn't need to be soooo long. Rurouni Kenshin fans will enjoy them, people interested in watching historic animes also will enjoy them. I really have a very strong bond with this anime, it was part of my childhood, I had a lot of fun with the games of the franchise, yes, it's a very good franchise, I love it very much.
