Each anime offer a competition, where you must kill to survive. Thus display themes of survival tactics and death/misery. Both male MCs suffer from the same lack of courage and understanding of the world/competition they have been dragged into and are useless without help. This help comes in the form of the female lead MCs who make up for the male MCs lack of survival skills. Both female MCs display an unhealthy interest in the male MCs and these female MCs are the best aspects of both anime. (the male MCs tend to convey annoying traits and dialogue) If you like one, you may well enjoy the other. Some differences to consider is the length of the two shows. (Deadman Wonderland = 13 episodes, Future Diary = 26 episodes) And Deadman Wonderland also has an open ending. (room for another season)

Mugen and Spike. Two of the most badass, laid-back and expressions of cool for any character in anime. Whilst both stories surrounding the characters are not similar, the struggles and fights of both these said characters offer entertainment and the same vibe to interest you, if these characters are to your liking.

The similarity is in the MCs. They both exhibit powerful traits and are pretty much OP, deriving this power from the demons within them. The action scenes are comparable given the MCs wield such power and are certainly entertaining and badass.

Each anime focuses on the disturbing premise of being trapped in a video game. Thus begins the journey of the players to seek out ways to return back to the reality. (leaving/finishing the game so to speak) Both anime attempt to explore reality, questioning what is real? Should the values of what existed in reality hold any meaning in this virtual reality? Is it only a game? Does killing a player matter since it's only a game? Both build a society to impose judgement for such values. These societies can be in the form of guilds and explores the interactions between them. If you like one, you may like the other, although there are a few differences to consider. Log Horizon centralizes around one guild that rises to power, it also builds upon the relationships of the guilds and gamers. Sword Art Online is centralized around predominately the male MC and his relationship with the female MC, thus the world building and themes are a little more restrictive on a grander scale. Another glaring difference is the pacing, Sword Art Online has many inconvenient time skips and Log Horizon can be very slow to move the plot and its story at a reasonable pace. Both exhibit overuse of "Kawaii" moments that may take away from the experience for the story-driven audience, something to be prepared for, as both can take themselves to seriously and yet too carefree in the next scene/episode.

Despite the very different themes, (OO's story driver: baseball politics; DN's story driver: power of death) both MCs are portrayed in similar respects. Both have high aptitude for critical thinking and an arrogance to match their "one-step ahead" thought process. They seem to always have the answers to unsettling and problematic circumstances. They each thrive on rivalry; (a noteworthy aspect in DN, to a lesser extent for OO)

Great world building for future crime fighting, integrating future technologies into society. This creates a utopia/dystopia in both worlds. Questions arise about how technologies should be used and how society should be governed to regulate such abuse or misuse. (more pronounced in Psycho Pass) Both have strong female MCs (GITS a little stronger) and an interactive unit/team to introduce interesting characters and dialogue/ideology. (PP is stronger in character development, GITS in dialogue)

Let's start by comparing the story, both have similar shounen elements of that fighting spirit; Bleach = spiritual energy and Naruto = chakra. The Story's main protagonist seeks to become stronger after each encounter to protect their families (although in the beginning Naruto's motive is to not be seen as an outcast) The development of the protagonist is conveyed in a simple formula of finding that inner strength to overcome their opponent (speaking which both suffer inner demons to which they must also struggle against and control to unleash their full potential), however this simple formula is made entertaining by the interactions with a long list of supporting characters and the choreography of the fight scenes. The OST is probably the most outstanding feature of both Naruto and Bleach. They both evoke this primal instinct to fight and be poised for a fight (also evident through their extensive training regimes). It's heart pounding and raises the tension/excitement factor to set the scene for some epic shounen battles. The fight/battle scenes are generally dragged out to showcase both the parties moves and special abilities but also act as its foundation to the plot. (i.e. introducing new abilities, developing new abilities or creating plot points) The animation is solid throughout both shows, especially considering both shows' length. It certainly will not be a deterrent. However, one point to note is the amount of fillers may be an issue for a lot of viewers, to overcome this issue, I recommend seeking some great filler guides on the internet to watch the show in its canon form especially if the filler is not to your liking.
