Hello Call me Alex

Hello Call me Alex

I love Animes & Mangas and you are welcome to see my lists. I would love to chat if you want to talk about Anime, so feel free to leave a message.
Ratings and what they mean:-
For Manga List:
Rating 7 and above are recommended for all. Just give them a try.
6 means it's a good story but maybe boring at parts, has some pacing issues. It could have been better, or
The story does not try to be some epic masterpiece but is instead a short sweet fluff piece which is sweet to read. Nothing too great to remember but still fun to read, or It started great but quickly became disappointing.
All in all It's a fun time and has it's charm and I recommend checking it out if you are a fan of the genre
5:- Is the mixed bag. I personally like them but nothing too special about them and I wouldn't recommend them at first unless you finished reading all the good ones.

For Anime:-
I recommend any anime I rated 8 or above.
6 & 7 are something you should choose for yourselves by reading the summary or reviews because they are not 8 & above for a reason.

5 and below:- Not recommended! Nope. 5 you may like it but I got bored of it very quickly or they had potential in the initial eps but soon became a pain to finish.
I hope you have a great day! Happy watching and reading!

YES, both scenes were so beautiful! Those two hold their vows extremely seriously too, like when Romeo gave himself up to save the citizens, then Juliet gave herself in as well to make sure they'd go together!
I think the second scene was so cute! Their run to embrace one another, it felt like forever since they'd been together for me!

I'm really having a blast watching RxJ, I'm almost sad that I'm nearing the end (Only 5 episodes left)! It'll be tough to find something to follow up after this show! I'll definitely be writing my thoughts down the second I finish in a short review for my list, I have too much to say about the gorgeous animation and characters!

Yup, Brina is great, although I think this was dubbed before she did Spice & Wolf, which is my favorite performance by her. She's still quite good here, but I think she did a better job later!

I don't really watch anime with anyone :/
My friends that initially got me into anime were mostly action and comedy viewers, we didn't have much to watch together once I started getting interested in romance instead. That's why I love visiting this site to see what others think about my favorite shows, and to find new ones to see!

Yup lots of typing to be done, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me always, on that note! It's always exciting when I see you left me a message!

It's EXTREMELY rare to see a very good VN come out that's given away for free! The only other one I can think of is Katawa Shoujo, I loved that one. This one seems like a really well made read, but only really one you'd play once I think. Especially since there's only one path, and you can't deviate from the one person. Nothing wrong with that, just a preference is all. So, you've already finished this game? On a scale of 1-10 where would you rate it?

Yes, I agree Naruto tends to be very boring, lots of blank stares, and flashbacks to fill the runtime. *YAWN*
I'm surprised I made it through as much as I did! It was mostly due to Rock Lee for me, I really liked his character, so determined and pushing himself to the very limit more so than anyone else I've ever seen!

That's good to hear, keep hanging in there, family is a gift and a curse!
Yup still loving Romeo x Juliet, when you say church scene do you mean the initial one in which they essentially vow they'd stay together until the end? Or the one where they are reunited after Romeo brings the prisoners to rebuild a life for themselves there? Either way yes both of those scenes are amazing! I especially loved the second one, when Juliet reveals herself and Romeo is so shocked it is just so adorable, I couldn't handle it! I wish I could find a clip to show you what scene I mean, but I can't find it, so it's at the end of episode 18 if you're curious.
The iris being the flower of choice that represents their love is genius, I'm so glad you mentioned that! A common flower instead of something commonly thought of as lovely like a rose or cherry blossoms, makes so much sense in this circumstance, since the whole idea is love can be found anywhere, even between two born to be "enemies" from the very beginning.
In this case I'm 100% watching in dub, Juliet is voiced by Brina Palencia, one of my favorite VA's and I couldn't NOT watch it in dub for that reason!

I know what you mean, there's nothing quite like a rewatch marathon of your favorite shows you've seen!
(✿◠‿◠)

You finally made it to the one somewhat pervy episode I was talking about before you started watching! Hiro is such a gentleman telling Zero-two and the others they were "being exposed" in the intro scene. This episode brings up one of the things I adore so much about this series on another note: Zero-two and Hiro often will just be sitting around hanging out like they do a bit in this episode! It's so nice in between all the action and fun, to see our main characters just getting to relax and get along, in my opinion! And Kokoro standing up for the guys, getting the girls to rethink being so hard on them, was so touching! I adore everyone on this squad so much!
And sidenote: I also like Maze Runner, coincidentally, haha! I can kinda see the similarities.

Haha Gaang I haven't heard of that before xD
I've definitely got it on my to do list, but honestly, I have too many top tier shows I wanna check out first. It'll probably be a bit until I can get around to it.

My guess as to why people see BakuDeku as a thing is that often opposites attract, think about how many couples start off rocky because they don't get along at all. But I agree, I don't think they seem like a good couple together in all honesty. But WOW there are lots of fanfics of these two together, there must be something to it...
I haven't seen the show so I don't have a clue who would or wouldn't work together ultimately.

Good, keep trying to find the magical anime that changes your father's mind! But yeah, it's not for everyone.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe Tai will find someone even better for him! Ya never know!
I'm all for Rogers and Carter, but after he went under ice, I pretty much gave up on that entirely. So, it was like a second blow to rip away hope from us AGAIN for Romanogers... Harsh MCU writers, very harsh!

Hm, I wonder why I never heard of Huntik over here. Maybe it's not very popular in the North Americas?

Same here, I am always very happy to see a new message or comment from you!
(*^-^*)

Our Life? No I haven't heard of it, but this looks quite interesting. Dynamic relationship developing based on your choices seems really interesting. I'm usually more for VNs with multiple romantic paths to take, as in multiple characters, but this could be fun to check out if I can find the time!

I think Pokémon and Digimon should count, and I'm glad you think it was worth all of those episodes. I agree 20-30 episodes is the sweet spot for longer duration anime now for me. My favorite is 12-14 episode seasons though, I think it allows for the most concise season-wide arcs in my experience.
Anyways, if I ignore things like Dragon Ball that I basically grew up watching, I'd have to say Naruto, and since I never finished it, I'd say it was not worth it unfortunately. I didn't dislike it by any means, but it got kind of boring, and I fell out of interest around 200 episodes in. Maybe someday I'll finish it and change my mind, but for now it kinda feels like a waste of time.

Sounds like you've got your hands full with family lately! Hope you're having a good time at least, seeing relatives you don't get to see every day. In all honesty I haven't watched a ton of Romeo x Juliet, I have seen a couple episodes since we last spoke. Something made me really want to rewatch some of the classic shows that I haven't seen in years, the ones that really made me fall in love with the romance genre. Clannad, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, are all ones that I hold in high regard. I'll get back to watching new stuff in a day or two, but I have had a blast reliving some of my favorites!
(❤ ω ❤)

I knew you would get it! Many people like to pick on anime for these episodes because they view it as simple filler, that serves no purpose. I am glad you feel the same way, they serve to make us feel closer and get to know the characters as more than just a plot device!
I agree that the characters are all unique in Darling in the FranXX, Futoshi could've been more interesting but otherwise I think the show did a great job!
No, I have not seen the remake for Digimon Adventure, it looks good, the animation, I mean. I don't think the original had a badly dated art style, so hopefully they did something to make the show fun in a fresh new way.

Aw thanks! Yes, I totally agree MAL is a fantastic community, I also don't frequently chat online through basically any other sites. It feels easy here because everyone is here for fun, and to share their experience with what they love and why they love it!

Yup, just checked Avatar is on Netflix in my region, all three seasons!
How much of My Hero Academia have you seen? BakuDeku xD
Is there any actual indication of a relationship between Bakugou and Deku or are people just seeing them together because they look like a good couple?

Well at least your dad is liking Avatar, maybe you'll need some less intense introductory anime than Bungou Stray Dogs. Something like Cowboy Bebop maybe? I don't know I'm just spit-balling.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ah so Unobtainium did have a purpose besides just being rare! That's good it honestly makes me kinda like their motives in the first movie more since it's not completely without purpose besides money. Not that it makes anything the humans did okay, but I like when the bad guy has a clear motive, rather than just being greedy or power hungry.

"A son for a son", we'll see how that line ages with the next entry! I'm far more interested in Lo'ak's storyline I want to see how he develops into the leader he clearly has the qualities to be one! Plus, Tsireya and him are adorable and I can't wait to see more of that develop!

I guess I can kinda see Matt and Sora together as well. I remember them also being rather cute together from time to time, but I was always so certain that Tai and Sora would end up together... Hope Tai finds himself someone kind that's good for him too some day!
I was also on the Romanogers ship, I remember that scene in Civil War, and I remember being disappointed seeing they weren't going to pursue that relationship any further in the MCU.

I'll still be staying in the area when I move, yes, I want to stay near home because most of my family is in the general zone. Guess we'll see how lucky I get with location; I'll keep you updated!

Huntik? No, I haven't even heard of it to be honest, what's it about?

I haven't really decided on what I want to do exactly with my profile, but I do want to keep it ME. I want people to be able to visit my page and clearly see what I'm like, what I like to watch at a glance. Don't know if I want to use one of the MAL design pages yet, I'll experiment around and see how it looks.
Yeah, it can get kinda lonely at times while I'm waiting for your reply I admit - but that just makes it all the more exciting when I get the notification that you sent one out!
(っ °Д °;)っ

Hey, I haven't given you a fun anime question in a while so here goes:
What's the longest anime you've ever seen? AND was it worth the long duration?

Cya soon!~
JohnCarlisle Jan 28, 2023 8:15 AM
I love not just the beach episodes but any fun episodes that let our characters simply relax for a short moment, while still developing the characters! It makes me so happy especially in shows where the stakes feel so high to give the characters a rest, it makes them feel more human to me!
I think Darling in the FranXX did this kind of episode right, fortunately, lots of fun, characters stayed consistent, and they got some more developing characteristics and chances to bond. That's a perfect execution for this type of episode in my opinion!!

No, I haven't actually seen that particular Digimon series, I am somewhat familiar with the characters though and I see what you mean.

I gotta admit these recommendation events are right up my alley; it's exactly what's so fun about this website! Getting to chat about the shows we love and recommend ones to others based on what they've seen is my favorite thing to do here! I'll have to participate in the next one for sure.

Good point there will probably be a valentine's day event, wonder what it will be like though, like I say I have never really taken part in them in the past.

I know I really missed out on the Avatar bandwagon! It's rare that I dedicate myself to a longer series, so I miss out on lots of popular shows like that, My Hero Academia, and many others.
Aw that's so sweet that you have a close relationship with your dad like that! My parents would never watch most of the things I'm interested in so I never had that. Although once in a while our interests collide, we also watched Harry Potter together for example, and many MCU movies!

I see where you're coming from, the humans in Avatar 2 have a more survival-based plan, but at the same time the "whale hunters" we'll call them, were only really in it for the money.
I do like that they clearly stated the reason the brain serum was so expensive though, since it extends people's lives. In the first movie they never really made it clear why unobtainium is so useful.

I do really hope in the future they soften out Neytiri again, so she makes sense. Her random hatred even for the good humans kinda seemed out of place, but maybe it was intentional, to create some tension with Spider in the future films?
Only time will tell ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, I thought Kiri was developed in a bit of a weak way, she should've been more important, but I think the goal is setting something big up for the next films. I think it was a cool way to bring Grace back into the series without magically reviving her! But yeah, she needs more time before I'll have a real opinion of her character.

NOOO! Sora and Tai don't end up together!?! That's such a sad blow to my childhood ship!! I always thought they were cute together.

No worries about the wait, I understand you've got stuff going on!
Yup, getting my own place is definitely a stressful project but I've saved up for the past few years, and I'm feeling ready to finally move on! I don't really have a perfect picture of what I want now, I'm quite flexible in living arrangements so for now I just want something quiet and spacious enough for a few people. I'll keep you updated if and when new info comes up regarding the home search!

Yep, gotta make my profile less of a wall of text, use some imagery, assuming I can find the time to learn how to do so.
That's really great that you spend time with your family, don't apologize! I think it's wonderful that you can be with those you care about and do things you all enjoy together, if you're happy then I'm happy too!

Secret Santa badge! You're a collector now! I admit I'm a bit jealous now I've gotta get myself an event badge too.
^_^
Nope haven't seen Avatar but I hear only good things about it, sad it isn't allowed on this site... That's cool you can watch something like this with your dad though, must be a really fun guy!

Yup the world was gorgeous as expected, but we missed out on what could've been an incredibly interesting story with Neteyam.
T-T
I wasn't a big fan of the way they portray humans in the movie though, in this film it kinda just seems like they're forcing every human to be horrible when they're not part of the Na'Vi tribe. Like all the whale hunters, those guys made me so angry, but I guess that's the point...

I went with pretty much the whole family, we had a good time and just chatted about the movie for a while afterwards, like I've said I truly love discussing movies/tv with others, so I had a great time! That's funny my mother also was not very interested in the movie as well, but she did like a lot of the new characters.
YES, I can't believe I never brought up Tsireya (The chief's daughter)! I thought she was fantastic and the budding relationship between those two was by far the most adorable part of the film for me! She's the only one that understood him and was proud of him for bonding with the Tulkun!! I cannot wait to see her return in the next film, Loak has a lot of potential to be a good leading character, as long as they don't screw up his development into adulthood.

I agree a 7/10 is a good score for this movie, not bad by any means but not blow me away good either. Hopefully we won't have to wait another 10 years for the next sequel.
xD
You're right the first film did have a real sense of community with the creatures of Pandora all joining in on the defense front! It kinda happened in this one again with the Tulkun, but it wasn't as big as the last one.

Will do, Aliens is up next on deck!
I wasn't really into Beyblade, but I like Digimon and Pokémon. I rewatched a few of the earlier Pokémon movies SO MANY TIMES as a kid, good old classic Ash! I also adore the Digimon show/movies, I used to watch a couple that I cannot remember the name of quite a bit. I was a huge Veemon fan as a kid, but now I'm all about Agumon!
On that note: have you seen this reboot of Digimon? I'm curious if it's worth a try, seems like an interesting take with them being older having moved on from the Digital World.

Good luck, especially with studies! I know how tough that can be, I'm fresh out of school myself.
Yuri on Ice and SK8 both sticking with the same studios? I dislike when anime make drastic changes in art style between seasons, it feels like the show changes personality.

Personally, I'd like to get myself an actual home to own this year, I've saved up some money and I'm feeling ready to get a place of my own now!
On the anime front hmmm, let's see: I want to revamp my profile a bit, give it some better style. I also would like to catch up on my list of anime I really wanna see finally! I've been slacking lately on catching up on shows, only seen a few episodes of Romeo x Juliet these last couple weeks!!!
JohnCarlisle Jan 19, 2023 3:35 PM
Welcome back!!! I was so darn lonely while you were gone! Glad to have you back!
This was my first time seeing Christmas Chronicles, it was a good movie for a family film. I wouldn't really rate it as a classic that will live on for many years like Home Alone. But it was enjoyable, nonetheless.

I really liked Neteyam, and I didn't expect to like the kids honestly. I was afraid they'd use Jake and Neytiri having kids as an emotional crutch to get people invested in the story. Neteyam was without a doubt my favorite though, the older brother that felt responsible for the safety of his siblings, he was so well developed. I agree his death should have been held off until we could actually get to know him more, it would've been more impactful that way... Plus this way Loak never got a chance to get a developing relationship with his father, felt like a missed opportunity to me.

Yep, I agree, Neytiri's sudden hatred of ALL sky people is a bit hypocritical, there were and are many good ones portrayed in the film. The scientists, especially Grace, have always chose the side of the Na'vi. I don't think it made much sense for her to have this sudden switch in her personality, before she had little patience for them, but never a true hatred. It's a shame they had over a decade to work out kinks in the story but somehow, we still wound up with basic plot holes like these... I still had a good time watching it, no doubt, but it should've been better.

Avatar: Stigma of the Wind would be such an epic title honestly! I would never be able to see that without thinking of the show though. The end of Way of the Water had Jake fully accepting this new home for his family, so I truly believe it will take place in the ocean again, plus Loak's Tulkun will probably have some presence in the film if I had to guess.
I know the whole exploration with the children of the ocean and learning the way they live was SO SATISFYING and beautiful! I adore every one of those scenes. Clearly most of the time working on the film went to making the ocean on Pandora feel alive, and it went to good use.

I will gladly give Predator 2 and Aliens a watch, I had a fantastic time watching the first ones for both series, but I never continued because there are SO MANY films in the series, even crossovers and all. It's just too confusing, but if the sequel is that good, I'll check them out!

My best guess for why anime is so often based in Highschool is that the largest audience is around that age, 14-18. I got into anime around that time personally. Fortunately, many studios are experimenting by branching out a lot more, and we're seeing adult anime happen more and more again. Adult was popular back in the pre 2000's era, but sort of fell out favor coming into this generation of highschooler protagonist anime.

Yep, Levi became far too popular with viewers, he even became a main character starting with season 3. Not that I dislike him, but he's become one of the driving faces of the show without a doubt, so you'll see a lot of him.

That's a shame that Miroku and Sango weren't given proper screentime, I'm always up for more ship material! :)
I'd be hesitant to add two whole characters to the gang though, since some of the mains already feel a bit underutilized.
Aw that's sweet I always really liked Sango especially, but I like Kohaku as well. I'm glad to hear he gets some good treatment in the show!

I hope so too, 2023 will be the start of putting the pandemic behind us all, I think.
~ Do you have anything you're really looking forward to this year? ~
JohnCarlisle Dec 31, 2022 10:46 AM
As per usual I spent plenty of time with family, we watched a few Christmas movies. One was "The Christmas Chronicles" which was a touching brother and sister film. I love the home alone series I watched them all the time when I was younger!

I did like a lot of the kids even though it felt a bit too cramped at times. It's like we were constantly rushing because there wasn't enough time to develop the characters! Neteyam had to be my favorite addition in the movie, his protective older brother attitude was refreshing, they're clearly very close unlike many on screen families we see!
That moment after Neteyam died and Jake had to snap Neytiri out of it was great, and by gosh those two are badass when they get serious! They took down the whole darn ship!!!
I don't really know what to think about Neytiri using Spider in that scene, I would like to think she wouldn't kill him for a few reasons, but at the same time she's made it clear she has no more respect for the "sky people".

It was kind of strange how they decided to leave the forest, it's not like the humans would suddenly stop attacking their land, they would be less defended because Jake and Neytiri left, that's all. Most importantly, I get that Jake wanted to leave to protect his kids, but he had to know the war would not simply end at the forest, they wanted the whole world to themselves... Oh well, weird narrative choices aside, it was still a fun movie and seeing that the ocean is just as precious and wild as the forest on Pandora was awesome!

I've actually only seen the first predator movie and the first alien movie. I'm aware the sequels are held with high regard, but I simply never got around to watching them. Wow I bet going from Disney to T2 was quite a leap! I'm also a big fan of the first two Terminator movies!

Yes, I'll definitely give you a shout when I start up with Balance Unlimited, I'm a big fan of adult cast anime, it's so rare nowadays but seems to be maybe making a bit of a comeback? I certainly hope so, it allows for much more intelligent storytelling rather than the cliche "highschooler becomes the center of attention" for one reason or another story we see so often!

Everthorne is actually a fantastic ship name! It's like a true name of its own! I like that more than Everlark, it just rolls off the tongue so smoothly! Although Everlark does sound like a scientific name for something like a plant or animal haha!
^_^

Yep, only the last season and the upcoming season are MAPPA for Attack on Titan, they look fantastic both before and after so big props to WIT! WIT handled every season up until season 3 part 2, to be clear. Levi is such a great supporting character! He's one of the most hyped characters in the show, perhaps even a bit overhyped sometimes, he even got his own brief spin off manga that explored his character more in depth.
Someone once recommended Castlevania to me, but no I have not seen the show, it never really caught my attention personally.

Yes, Ayano is such a great three-dimensional character! She doesn't just come in and always yell, sometimes she sees she is wrong, and changes her opinion of things (often Kazuma) over time. I adore her character arc in KnS! Ren is a bit simpler, but not necessarily in a bad way. He puts others first and has a strong moral compass, he's a well-rounded person and I believe that is because he grew up with many drastically different personalities around him.

I'm full on a Inuyasha and Kagome fan all the way! They're both power main characters and while I haven't seen the whole show, I cannot deny they have a lasting appeal. They could've continued the show another 100 episodes no problem! But with that being said Sesshomaru is great as well!
Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship is so touching! It's a little strange given her young age but they have a lot of history together and I'm happy things turned out the way they did! The way Sesshomaru stays so stoic reminds me of Inuyasha in a way, he can't really access his emotions as easily as others, but you can tell he's still very happy!
The way Kagome freaks out seeing a smartphone for the first time! xD
AND THEN THE WAY SHE PATS HER DAUGHTER'S HEAD LOVINGLY! T-T
It's so sweet I adore these moments from the show! It's always so satisfying since we generally see Inuyasha and other main characters in a more comedic or action way.

Ah I see, the show falls into the trap of inconsistent writing. It's a common problem unfortunately, especially on shows that stray a lot from the source material. Do you happen to know if this show was true to the source material - manga, LN, etc..?
An OP character that's just too dumb for their own power is always frustrating, I can think of a couple examples of shows that did the same thing. I can't blame people for taking issue with it in Yasahime, hopefully it got better with time though.
I must say, I agree that Moroha looks like a pleasant character on screen from what I've seen!
╰(*°▽°*)╯

No no - the game DID let me customize Hawke; I was just disappointed because I wasn't able to remake my character in a way that LOOKED right. So I wound up simply getting as close as possible and wasn't very happy with it.

2022 was a pretty good year, I think! Compared to the past two years of covid ups and downs I am happy to say things have gotten more reliably normal again here. I'm looking forward to 2023 honestly in a positive light, which is more than I was able to say at the end of 2021!
JohnCarlisle Dec 27, 2022 6:33 PM
Covid is always looming over us threatening to make a comeback, luckily, we haven't had any full-blown bad outbreaks again though!
I do celebrate Christmas, thank you! That's exactly why it took me SO LONG to respond, sorry 'bout that. Hope you enjoyed your time off from work/school!

I just got home from seeing Avatar 2 - It was fun, the script was a bit more muddled than the first, but I still had a good time!
Jake and Neytiri felt like they were still the same characters, Jake still had that incredible strength for the ones he cares for; the first movie had him fighting for the Na'Vi and more importantly Neytiri, second was more personal given how he was fighting for his direct family now. Neytiri still had the same brash anger she had in the first one when someone threatens the things she holds dear, Pandora, and now her children and Jake. I loved the characterization of everyone in the movie honestly, it was very well done!

The problems still exist, and I don't think it surpassed the first by any means, but it was still a blast to watch, especially in 3D!

You're right some movies have transcended the curse of the sequel. It's rare but things like Terminator 2 and Spiderman 2 have become universally adored as the best in their respective series! Personally, I think the recipe for making a sequel that can surpass its predecessor is initially creating a great set of characters, then in the sequel finding a way to test them in a way that makes the audience feel close to them. Think the train sequence in Spiderman 2 for example, it's a legendary scene for a reason, and it's likely the thing that makes the movie SO memorable!

I'll let you know what I'm thinking when I get a chance to start up Balance Unlimited, then!
I have actually tried watching Higashi no Eden once, come to think of it! I don't have it on my list because it was a LONG time ago and I didn't finish the show. I'd like to give it another shot someday as well, because I was young and dumb, I probably would like it a lot more now! On that note, please tell me what you think when you start it.

I do prefer romance to work that way, like I said an earned romance is more satisfying, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun either way! There are tons of love at first sight romances that I adore, most recently Romeo x Juliet, btw I have not made much progress this week thanks to Christmas prep, sadly.
Katnip IS an adorable nickname, but no I don't remember people making up a cute ship name for the two of them. :/

Yes, Mikasa is a MC along with Eren and Armin, plenty of recurring characters as well but those are the main three. MAPPA is amazing absolutely! And yes, MAPPA did jump on AOT for season 4 but everything before that was actually done by Wit Studio, who still did a fantastic job in my opinion. I don't know much about Wit Studio besides AOT, but they did great especially in season 2 and beyond.

I've gotta pick Kazuma for favorite, his calm cool demeanor is so entertaining and refreshing! Generally main males are not very self-aware and slightly dumb but not Kazuma, he is hyper aware of his situation and the way he presents himself. I love that about him, I adore both Ayano and Ren as well, but Kazuma was a character ahead of his time!
So true, the way they mirrored Kazuma's situation with Tsui Ling with Ren was GENIUS!

Thanks for sharing this scene my goodness I can't get enough of these cute moments between the three of them! Inuyasha and Moroha are so similar in behaviour and yet you can see Kagome in her so strongly as well! If the whole show was just Moroha and her travels with her parents I'd watch it right this moment, I'm loving these clips so much!
Moroha out cold on Inuyasha's back has gotta be in my top five cutest father daughter moments in anime history! <3
Let's hope the show gets a chance to continue in the future and takes its characters to the next level, it could be so good!
That final battle looks like a good time, Moroha being the absolute most she can be is so satisfying. Shame there isn't more consistency in the show. When Towa's hair grew out like that I was like "YES, it's time to get serious!"

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with Hawke's return, since I couldn't remake MY Hawke as I had designed him. It didn't feel like the same person...

Hope you're having or had a good vacation going into the new year!

That does actually sound quite interesting, seeing some children of Pandora would be a nice dynamic we didn't see in Avatar 1. I'm glad it won't be a total snooze even though it's not amazing like we all hoped!
Got it - I'll be sure to check it out in the next couple weeks, so I definitely don't miss my chance to see it on the big screen! Quick note - I actually never got to see Avatar in the movies, I only watched the movie a year or two after it released at home... It was still great, but I imagine the experience was incredible in theater!
I am also so glad to hear Jake and Neytiri got to shine in this movie too, if they were kicked to the side for this film it'd feel like an improper sequel.

I totally understand what you mean, unfortunately it's unlikely we'll ever TRULY recapture the experience that was a movie like Avatar for the first time again. It's possible, but highly unlikely, so I'll try to hold back my expectations for this one. Who knows, maybe walking in knowing it won't be 10/10 amazing will actually make the experience all the better!

Keep me posted when you get back to watching Darling in the FranXX - I'm always interested to hear how you're liking shows I recommended!

I can see what you mean, older anime tends to focus more on padding the runtime a bit, making things move slowly sometimes. It's not true of everyone, but it is an unfortunate downside of the time period.

Well Balance Unlimited does look pretty interesting, it's not really the type of genre I aim for, but it is an adult cast show which is always nice to see. If it really comes with a high recommendation from you, I see no reason why I shouldn't add it to the to do list!
That's my bad I was mistaking the YOI Ed with the OP "History", I really like that one! xD

Thank you, I feel the same way! It's great getting to chat with someone about ships in general, especially with you since you are willing to hear me out when we disagree! That's very rare and it's the reason I generally don't bother talking to others about that kinda stuff, it often devolves into an argument. Like you said, many are personally offended when you disagree with their choice... But not you, and that's exactly what makes you so awesome!
(✿◠‿◠)

YES, as I always say, it's very entertaining to see what I'd call an "earned romance". In other words: where the characters don't just instantly fall for one another, but circumstance and time allow them to eventually fall for one another in a believable way.
I must admit the more we talk about it the more I'm seeing the Peeta + Katniss ship! He has lots of moments where he sees something is wrong with her when nobody else does, or cares for her when nobody else is there to!

I'm so glad you're already liking Mikasa, she's genuinely my favorite character and has SO MANY amazing moments in the show! You'd love her I just know it! Just be VERY careful watching and listening to AOT music, the show has many huge spoilers that could be ruined by comments, songs, etc...

I know what you mean!!! KNS could have been another season or two of amazing adventures and developing relationships! We could see Ayano and Kazuma get closer slowly, and Ren of course growing up more with his powers becoming stronger! We could have even seen Kazuma and his father reconcile with time! Oh, what could have been... But life had different plans unfortunately, and at least we have this little gem of a show to remember!

Oh, so the whole series dub is like this for Inuyasha? That's unfortunate because I was starting to like Kagome's voice! That whole reunion is perfection, such a shame the rest of Yashahime doesn't quite hold up to the quality the original had.

I did already get a chance to meet Hawke, but I'd really like it if an old character from the games returned as an official party member. Instead of being the main character, they would be following a new leader. Just a thought I had, I think it'd be a cool dynamic to have two powerhouse characters in the same party, maybe they could even have a power struggle for leadership. I'm just throwing ideas out; I have no idea if this would ever really work well!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Then again, this idea pretty much goes out the door if Inquisitor is the lead character again in 4, no clue if they plan on continuing the tradition of a new lead in each game or not.

Wow you really put a lot of thought into those recs! I hope they appreciate the hard work!
I haven't seen the three recs you gave but from what I know about them - I'd say you did a good job fitting to their preferences, and I think they will like them a lot! Especially Nozaki Kun, if they liked Sasaki to Miyano and Horimiya they'll love that!
JohnCarlisle Dec 17, 2022 9:30 AM
Aw that's a bit of a letdown, too bad it didn't live up to the hype it built for the years since its initial release... It's extremely rare that sequels surpass the original, so I shouldn't be surprised but somehow, I was trying to stay optimistic. I'll still check it out when I have a chance this winter!

Other than the horror anime you mentioned, the only I can think of personally is Another, which is definitely strong horror. I think we discussed it a while back - but that show is definitely a good anime if you really want HORROR.

From time to time, I enjoy watching an older style of anime. The clearly messier and hand-drawn style of the early 2000's and before is sometimes interesting to me. As long as it's well done, I generally don't mind. Cowboy Bebop is definitely one that falls into the good category! I also recently watched a show called Blue Gender which was pretty good, similar style you get from the late 90's.
But I generally prefer the style we see nowadays that's been perfected in the past couple decades. Some studios go way TOO cheap on the animation style but barring those, I like the current style many studios follow as well!

Wow I love this ED! This is my second fav easily behind the YOI one, I love this outro! Can't help but bop your head along with it! This show seems pretty interesting I can't believe I haven't added it to my list yet.

See you get it, it's painful to watch shows or movies where you can't buy into the main relationship that's being built! I know what you mean about love triangles, that's honestly the main reason why I think harem is so bad.
I can see where your mom is coming from, Jacob would easily have been good for her in another world. He's caring and sweet and trusting to the point that allowed Bella to recover from a depression so strong she lost her friendships and almost had to leave home. Edward on the other hand, they just had an energy to their dialogue, the looks they gave one another, it was always so easy to see for most people! They simply couldn't be beat, and as much as it was Edward's fault that Bella was so hurt in New Moon, it was all for the right reason - he thought it would protect the woman he loved!

Absolutely, Katniss and Peeta work, but it's after so much pain and experience together that they are ready for that relationship. Not every love story has to be love at first sight, I appreciate the slow building of their relationship, it's nice to see something different is all!
I suppose I see what you mean, after fighting the immense power of the capitol together pretty much alone in some circumstances, Peeta and Katniss would make sense together.
OHHH that makes so much more sense! Peeta was stopping her! Now I like that interaction so much more!

For sure AOT has its dark moments. I'd say it's far more focused on the action than anything else, but when things get rough, and they do - they get really dark. It's definitely the kind of show where you kinda fear at any time you could lose your favorite character or characters and are so relieved if and when they make it through! It's extremely tense viewing if you're really into it, in a good way of course!
"First time I see my brother in years, and I do this to him" Aw my heart! Kazuma is such a softy under that tough exterior! The way he tested Ren was so great too, I think it fits his character perfectly, he wanted to make sure Ren really is the good guy he thinks he is. As a careful and calculated person, it totally makes sense for him to do that, I think.

I know Kazuma's story is so tragic, it almost seems out of place, like it belongs in something far darker! But fortunately, he finds his way back and even proves himself worthy to his father, who was the most adamant about his banishment. Of course, the only person that could keep up with a guy like Kazuma is Ayano, her fierce energy and anger make her a perfect match for him!
Oh, this ED <3 The way Ayano looks at him and reaches out to pick him up at the end! So sweet. And then in the second version Ren is there too!
Speaking of Inuyasha I saw this and it made me so darn happy! I thought I'd share it even though you've already seen it. This whole interaction is just perfect!!! When it comes down to it, Inuyasha can really get serious emotionally! Although the dubbing seems a bit off sadly, maybe it's just the upload, idk. Voice acting isn't half bad, but the syncing is way off.

I was so afraid at first when Romeo's mother found Juliet, I was afraid she wouldn't be in support of them despite her clear disagreements with the prince's actions. Thankfully she called for him and we got some beautiful moments with Romeo and Juliet once again! Yes, the chat she had with Juliet was so sweet too! I'm very happy with the direction the show has taken thus far, about halfway through we'll see how things develop!

Right imagine being able to have a previous playable character in your party for the next Dragon Age! That'd be a really interesting change, it'd have to be the Inquisitor, or Hawke I suppose since the Grey Warden wasn't voiced.
Yep, Groot's new look is questionable, head seems too small for those shoulders xD

So, what did you suggest for your Secret Santa?! I must know!
(っ °Д °;)っ
JohnCarlisle Dec 13, 2022 7:27 PM
Yes, Seiken Tsukai is mostly "normal" magic school type stuff. One thing that was kinda cool was the source of their power comes from previous lives, and some characters (like the main) have multiple previous lives making them much more powerful. Other than that, it was pretty average in terms of creativity.

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is one of my personal favorites, it has a top tier relationship, and the plot is so original and fun I just can't help but adore the show. It does have some decent horror at times, especially when they explore the history of the school grounds and Yuuko's past.

Yup that's the song, I linked a shorter version from the ED of the show, but yes that's the idea. I know it does totally give detective vibes! Cowboy Bebop has some incredible animation especially for its time. I'm sure the rave reviews and score can tell you everything you need to know, it's very good!

That Balance: Unlimited OP has some awesome style! It's so trippy I really like how colorful everything; it really makes it stand out despite being a clearly more grounded premise.
I couldn't help but bop my head to this Villainess ED the beat is so catchy! Lots of weird imagery in this one, I like it! I finished the song and the OP autoplayed after, I also like that! This cannot be the villainess she's far too adorable!

Everyone else seems to be such a big fan of Peeta and Katniss I mostly just want to see it from their perspective! Nothing is sadder to me than watching a love story unfolding and close suddenly without a satisfying conclusion, and that's how I felt when watching the movies. I imagine that's exactly how Jacob fans felt watching Twilight after New Moon... I didn't know that Peeta and Katniss would end up together, though it definitely seemed inevitable by the third movie. Like I said before as well - I have already started to see them in a new light thanks to you, and I think if I rewatch the movies with a new perspective in mind, I will like them a lot more together!

Right that scene where Katniss takes Coin out is SO satisfying! I was a bit shocked by how upset Peeta seemed to be with Katniss' decision in that moment though. But it was certainly one that needed to happen, or things would simply continue in a similarly fascistic way just under new leadership!

Well good news AOT has tons of good music, Reluctant Heroes is just one of many hits, and not just the OPs and EDs, the OST is fantastic as well!

Totally - I'm very happy with the ending of KNS given that it COULD HAVE been another weak cliffhanger that leaves us needing to know what happens next, only to be disappointed because nothing would come. Kaze No Stigma always rode that line between frustrating and satisfying with regards to the relationship, which I am cool with, it is a fantastic series that does not get enough recognition. I mean seriously - 7/10 average score?!?! Ren is definitely a great character as well, I adore how Kazuma suddenly gets all weak around him because he's the ONE member of his family that always showed him kindness! Great brotherly relationship building.

Yeah, SAO is fun, it hooked me so fast with the fascinating world, and I wound up watching 14-15 episodes in one day! I think I finished season 1 the following day too, and from that point on I was officially hooked on anime! I have not seen Death Note, but I suppose there are some surface level similarities I can see between that and Future Diary. Personally, I just like it for the wild emotional swings it throws at you, one moment you'll hate a character then suddenly love them the next! It makes for highly entertaining viewing the first time, in my opinion.

Yes, don't worry YOI will be on my radar soon, I've got some high priority shows to watch but I wanna see this now!
RomeoXJuliet is amazing! I'm loving the drama and most of all - the relationship building between Romeo and Juliet! At first, I was kinda like "Should these two really be SO in love this quickly?" but as time went on, I really started to buy into it! They are so adorable; I just saw the balcony scene and my heart hurts they're too cute!

If you liked A Silent Voice, you will definitely like Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. It's similarly hard hitting emotionally, and WOW it is a gorgeous movie!
The reason I like Spice and Wolf so much besides the incredible charm they main characters have is because of how different it is. Instead of being a bunch of punching and fighting, they usually talk their way out of bad situations, or use their wit to weave intricate plots. It's very hard to explain but that's the gist of why it hit me different. I'd say check out the first few episodes and if it doesn't interest you at all, then the show probably won't be for you.

Yes, I watched a few clips of the Animax dub for Inuyasha on YT, it was pretty funny but not in a good way. It just doesn't seem fitting to the character, Inuyasha in particular. If I remember correctly, I watched Maid Sama in dub, that was pretty good! Misaki is particularly badass, I like her harsh tone!

Mage is the CORRECT way to play every Dragon Age game! It's like they were designed for that first, and not just the combat but the stories with the Fade and the circle are all so darn interesting I love it! Can't wait to see what they do with it in 4, I hope they allow us to continue our saves once again and have it influence some kind of conflict with the Templars and Mages again! That was the best part of DA1 from what I remember.

I checked out Moon Knight as well, I agree it was quite good. It's so different from the norm for Marvel, so much mystery and so many twists it's a ton of fun! Definitely a highlight of this otherwise mediocre phase. Maybe 2023 will bring our heroes together more, make them a true TEAM once again!
Guardians 3 trailer omg it looks great! It hit me hard when Rocket said "Pete, I'm done runnin'"... This is definitely gonna be a great movie for Rocket, no doubt about that! I cannot wait!

Hunger Games has a way with depressing backstories, some of them are unfolding right before our eyes like with Finnick and Annie, and some we only hear about like Haymitch. I love that storytelling, it's one of the things that made the movies so enjoyable for me!

I am not participating in MAL Secret Santa, I have never done events on MAL before, is it fun?
JohnCarlisle Dec 7, 2022 7:56 PM
See Gale and Katniss do have some chemistry! I'd like to have my mind changed I want to be a Peeta supporter, but I wasn't able to buy it on my first viewing. Maybe I'll change my mind when I decide to rewatch the series with a new perspective.
That scene from Mockingjay was sooo good! Snow is an evil EVIL person; you can sense he even likes it in the way he talks. Wow then the way Haymitch comforts her, he really did fully take on a father-figure role for her. Completely separate from Katniss, I actually quite like Peeta, he never annoyed me or made me dislike him. He's clever and caring, always willing to be the one to take the fall. I just was never able to see the relationship, nothing against the man himself!
Yeah, that scene where Prim died was painful, I'm really not sure I even agree with the writer's decision there to have Gale involved. He was always more pro-military than Katniss, but he was always clearly willing to make himself the target just so that others (innocents) don't have to be. Think about how he took 42 extra tesserae (tickets to be picked in the hunger games, in return for food) so that he could feed the village! And how he took on the peacemakers whippings to save innocent people being abused. I just don't think it made sense for his character to be involved...

I could go on all day about anime OSTs. Something about the energy of OPs and often the soothing nature of EDs makes it so satisfying to listen to. Lemme throw out a few more good examples:
1. The Real Folk Blues - Cowboy Bebop ED, if you've seen this show, you already know how great the music is in general, but the ending is one of my favorites. It's hard to describe what exactly I love so much about this song, but I can say it's certainly very unique!
2. Dragon Heart - Seiken Tsukai no World Break Main Theme, this show has so much incredible music. I think it's the reason I remember it so fondly, despite it's mostly safe plot. It's not a flat out bad show by any means, but it doesn't do anything really different from your average magic school romance - EXCEPT the fantastic OST is a standout!
3. Requiem - Dusk Maiden of Amnesia OST, this song just has chillingly clean vocal performance by Nao Hiragi, never heard of her before this but wow it left a strong impression. Most importantly it plays at such a pivotal beautiful scene it'll always one to remember for me!

I love both instrumental and vocal music, either way it can evoke an extreme emotional response when used right! <3
AOT! I love Attack on Titan music! This was from season one if I remember correctly?

Yes Kaze no Stigma! I didn't know there was an active community for the show?! Probably not anymore, I imagine, since it's been so long, and the show is likely never going to be expanded. Yuri on Ice looks like a very cinematic experience, I'm not surprised it's the one that sparked your interest. A really well animated show can be the perfect thing to create new anime fans. As can other things like story, character building, relationships, etc... But I think really high-quality animation is what ropes in most people initially.
Hmmm, for me I think it was probably Sword Art Online or Future Diary. I watched them both around the same time and became quickly enthralled with anime because of them. It made me realize that anime is clearly different from your average television series, in that it can be extraordinary, anything can happen!

I won't lie I really like that Yuri on Ice OP, it's definitely going on my list now! I can't wait to check this out, if it's anywhere near as good as Given I'll have a great time! The ending isn't bad either, not as good as the OP in my opinion, usually the club music style doesn't really appeal to me.

Wow that's a tough question to answer - anime that are very special to me... Many of the best animated movies I've seen left a strong lasting impression on me, things like: Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, and A Silent Voice just to name a couple. But if I had to pick one series, I would choose Spice and Wolf. Put simply, it's just such a creative and different anime. It has so much charm and wit in the main two characters, and their chemistry is so obvious you can feel it! I've probably seen the show three times it's fantastic!

Like I mentioned in my last message, I recognized Juliet's voice suddenly, so I looked it up and YEP, she's coincidentally the same voice actress that did Holo in Spice & Wolf. No wonder I was enjoying her performance so much!
I just looked up the Animax Inuyasha dub, and it is pretty rough around the edges, haha!

Sera is so happy just being herself! I love it!

You're right Phase 4 has felt pretty rushed and not very satisfying in the payout. There were lots of good moments and some very good movies/shows mixed in there, but not nearly what it used to be. We need a big payoff for the building story like an Avengers film, even if it isn't exactly an Avengers film just something to bring together our heroes in one story!

I totally get the feeling, Finnick didn't deserve what he got. He was a true hero and should have been able to see the success of their cause for himself, as well as his own son of course. And while we're on the topic, I don't know if Annie gets more attention in the books, but I hope so, we did not get to see nearly enough of her in the movies!
Snow is one fantastic villain, portrayed masterfully by Donald Sutherland. He gives off so much power almost giving the feeling he's unstoppable, and he truly believed that he was. What a great bad guy to rally against!
Haymitch is great for the opposite reason. He starts off kinda cold and detached, clearly losing hope and just going through the emotions. Katniss and Peeta bring him back to life and in return he becomes a mentor to them both and father figure to Katniss. I adore his character arc; it's so underappreciated.
JohnCarlisle Dec 4, 2022 5:55 AM
I'd say the moment that solidified it for me was in Catching Fire, but even before that they had clear chemistry to me. They are similar people, they had a similar mother/father protection over Prim, and they just easily get along. In my mind, if Katniss hadn't been in the games, she easily would have ended up with Gale instead. Just a few more scenes for good measure.

No, I haven't seen Special A, I don't even think I've heard of it before honestly! But this looks good it's going on the list!
I'm so glad you liked my selections! I could go on and on all day about my favorite anime OSTs. A few years after I started watching anime, I figured I'd start collecting my favorites into a playlist, and now I listen to that once in a while when I'm feeling like some energetic anime music! Still add to it whenever something great comes along, like Given!
Angel Beats is more of a "happy cry" type of anime than a sad one. You may shed a few tears but not because of grief, it'll be more like tears of joy for someone. It's a tough one to explain but the show is a great introductory anime in my opinion, I've recommended it to viewers that are new to the medium!

Speaking of intro anime, what was your first anime that got you interested in anime? Not necessarily the first you ever saw, but the one that made you really a fan of anime.

I really like this second ED for Yashahime, it gives me vibes like they're really close friends! And wow that opening with Moroha with the quick compilation of Inuyasha and Kagome <3 That was perfection!
Ooh I'm actually really into this Yuri on Ice one, is it a cover? You don't often see official English dubs for OPs.
Wow that Bungo Stray Dogs OP was so slick the transitions were so good I had to rewatch it twice!

Well, he was also a fan of romantic anime from time to time, so I recommended he check out Clannad. He liked it at first, but once he got to After Story and things get heavy... He said it was just too painful to watch, I told him it would all be worth it but, in the end, he really seemed to dislike the show as a whole because of the tragic parts of After Story. I felt really bad about the whole thing.

I am also watching Romeo x Juliet in dub; it's very well done I really like Juliet's VA especially!

Yup pretty much since the beginning I've stuck with my reliable crew of those three in Inquisition. Sometimes I swap out Varric for Sera though, she's a pleasure to have around with her snarky attitude.
I didn't know that about Iron Bull and Dorian but that's really nice! I like when companion characters have their own lives outside of your own! I'll have to keep an eye on those two.

YES, I agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying! MCU is on a dangerous path of becoming completely void of any seriousness, just for the sake of comedy! It's infuriating sometimes even though I really enjoy MCU comedy.
For the next RE game, I hope we can get a horror game primarily, similar to 7, but with more emphasis on character building like in 8. If we can somehow bring together the best of both worlds, then the series will be back on top!

What's frustrating to me is that it seems Sony is willing to simply reboot the whole series every time it starts to decline! Amazing Spidey 2 wasn't as good as 1, but it was still a lot of fun, and had a good setup for 3! The same thing happened with Spiderman 3; I just hope this doesn't continue as a trend for the newest Spidey...

Awesome I'm looking forward to seeing what Cameron developed all those years, especially the one this month of course!

Finnick's distrust of the two was completely logical and the way he was willing to risk his life so readily to save Mags... It hurts to even think about the fact that poor young girl won when she was so little, thought she finally got away from it all, then was PULLED BACK IN to die. Finnick is the true hero of that movie in my eyes! I know why did he have to die!?

I know what you mean, advertising and hype from other users can build up shows to be better than it ends up being for us. But there's something for everyone in the world of Anime! That's part of why I love it so much!
Favorite OP and ED, hmm... That's a tough choice I have loads that I adore, so I hope you don't mind if I pick a few:
1. Identity - Chivalry of a Failed Knight OP, so much style and gosh darn that song is just so catchy!
2. Harmony - Kono Oto Tomare OP 2, sorry I couldn't find this on YouTube, hopefully this link works, this show has fantastic music, which should be obvious given that it's a music-based show.
3. Kimi Rhythm - Kokoro Connect OP 2, chill and unique, but I swear I'll stop now I could talk all day about great OPs.
4. Marutsuke - Given ED, Sorry I couldn't help it, I adore this ending so much it is so relaxing and Tama is adorable! Been recently loving this one.
5. Brave Song - Angel Beats ED 1, if you've seen this show, you know how close this group of friends becomes and this ending makes me feel all warm just watching it!
I think Inuyasha was a trend setter for the 2000's anime music! OP 2 was great I love that one!

I get what you mean, there are very few "tragic" endings to anime that I really enjoyed, it works sometimes when it's earned, but otherwise it just feels kinda cheap. Like they're trying to win you over with grief.

Aw I so glad you're enjoying it! I try my best to suit my recommendations, but sometimes I'm off. I once recommended Clannad to a friend, and he was SO angry at After Story, he said it was very painful to watch.

I can't reveal how things end it would ruin the journey!
Agreed, Hiro is very well written, he's not in it for power or stupid reasons like girls, he just wants to help like his friends all can! Even if it's putting his body at risk, he's willing to do it to make a difference.
Not to worry, without spoiling anything, I'll say the supporting cast do get some much-needed backstory as the show goes on.

I don't really feel strongly about the original play either way, so no I don't mind. It was never my favorite, but I didn't have any major problems with it either. Let's hope I end up liking the anime adaptation of it more!
I still think they became infatuated with one another a bit too fast in this version as well, but I agree their romance is far more believable in this adaptation.

I love a good side quest too, but for me it became a bit overwhelming, making it hard to choose what to do! I just have to accept I can't do everything, then I think I'll have a better time on Inq. My squad is usually Cass, Varric, and Solas.
Yup seems most people actually really loved RE8 as well, on par or even better than 7. I hope they won't take the wrong message from that and do away with the horror elements that were so strong in 7 though.

I heard that the studio pushed Sam Raimi (Spiderman director) to include more villains, and a more cluttered story to make the movie feel bigger. It kind of backfired since the story was a little messy because of it, and Sam reportedly didn't really know much about Venom, so he also didn't want to do that at the time. I think he would have preferred to do something more like I suggested, but I can't complain, I still adore what we have as a result!

I watch Hishe once in a while, I didn't catch the Thor one until you sent it though. I do like Honest Trailers they're hilarious! Even if I think they are sorta harsh on some movies I like from time to time.

I haven't followed much info on the new Avatar film so I'm going in mostly blind. It'll be really fun getting back into the beautiful world of Pandora! I'm so excited to see Neytiri and Jake again too! How many sequels are they planning? It took them so long to make this one I hope they don't start rushing releases now!

Let me rephrase what I said, I don't necessarily think Peeta and Katniss are unbelievable, I think they're cute in their own way. I just think Gale was a much better fit for Katniss, I couldn't buy into their relationship when Gale and she had such chemistry in their interests and ideals.
I see what you mean, I'll have to rewatch the movies and hopefully that will change my mind. It's funny you mention this scene with Finnick because he's easily my favorite character in the series! You know you've kinda given me something to think about; now I really wanna rewatch the movies with that in mind. I think I'm already liking Katniss with Peeta more. Finnick has a way with words!

Nope haven't seen Code Geass, heard it's good but it doesn't seem like my style, y'know?
Guilty Crown has SUCH good music! It's truly a shame, the show is good like 90% of the way through it has fantastic animation, music, and characters, but the ending is just lame! It could be so much more! The show puts the characters through a lot, and then by the end we don't get any satisfying relief from the world, instead we get sacrifice. It's sort of a bittersweet ending, and as much as I dislike that, I still think the show is quite good barring that one fail. I've even kinda jumped between a 7 and 8 for my score because I have mixed feelings on it.

I'm so glad you're liking it! Part of me always panics a bit when someone watches something I suggested because I've given recommendations before that didn't end well. They are a tightly knit group, it's part of what I like about the show! They're a true team/family!

Your shipping senses! :P Yup clearly Goro and Ichigo have some chemistry in there! Hiro is a great MC; I like the occasional lead that is genuine and kind with everyone like he is! He also meshes super well with the outgoing and loud 02, they make an adorable couple, don't they!? Zorome and Miku do make a good team, they have similar personalities so they can balance each other out well. Ikuno and Mitsuru are something... They seem to at best be an average duo, they clearly don't get along very well most importantly, I had similar thoughts when I started, I didn't think they'd work out. I actually adore Kokoro I think she'll warm up to you as time goes on! She's so kind-hearted she sees the best in everyone! Futoshi on the other hand: he's just alright, he's a decent comedy character but easily the weakest link in the show.

Wow, where to start on Romeo x Juliet?! The show starts in the same predictable fashion as the original, but quickly jumps into fun anime territory and changes things up to be more exciting! I'm loving the plot of Juliet hiding out as a boy, and then my goodness those two are so smitten with one another from the second they first meet! I just got to the scene where Romeo saves her and the doctor from the top of the prison, that was great! Now Juliet knows Romeo is not only a noble, but THE KING'S SON!!! I cannot wait to see where this goes, and I pray it will not end as tragic as the original play!
Back when I first watched this show I was watching shows like Highschool of the Dead, DxD, and Shomin Sample. Not that I was super into those, but I hadn't really discovered my love of romance yet. I was still very new to anime at the time, so I probably just lost interest and quickly moved on.

Kinda, in Mass Effect, only one of the three relationships is bisexual, the other two, a male and female human, are both straight.
DA Inquisition is so much longer than the others, which is most of the reason why I haven't beaten it. So many side quests and I'm a completionist!

That's a bummer, I thought RE8 looked very interesting from the short amount I had watched. RE7 revived the series in the public eye, thanks to that creepiness! They should lean fully into that and go full horror for a sequel! I did hear that the RE8 ending was pretty good though, like story-wise, it was impactful. I haven't seen it myself so I can't say, but hopefully that made up for the lackluster bosses.
I loved many of the bosses in RE7, it was mostly just the very end that was weak to me. It became so wacky out of nowhere; every other boss was intense and scary to fight!

I've always been a big fan of nerdy cool guy Peter in Spidey 3! It's corny but I think that's exactly how Peter would truly try to act cool, because he really is a major nerd!
I personally believe if they had left the villain to JUST Sandman in S3, it would have been far better received, it'd give us more time to work on Harry and Peter's deteriorating relationship, Flint's dive into the bad side for his daughter, and then we could leave things open for a fourth movie to involve Venom instead. Peter and Harry could THEN have their blow-out fight where the symbiote causes Peter to do something he regrets, and Harry finally redeems himself by helping Spiderman defeat Venom. Things were just a bit too claustrophobic in Spiderman 3, in my opinion!
Oh my goodness how could I forget this legendary speech from May! "I believe there's a hero in all of us." It hurts so good! I choose to believe she knew for sure that Peter is Spiderman, she gives far too many hints at it throughout the trilogy! And while we're on the topic Marc Webb, the director for the Amazing series confirmed the May knew about Peter as well! It was in this scene that she was hinted at knowing and he confirmed it online years after the movie came out. Aunt May in every universe is always the most incredible person, and she cares so strongly about her boy, she could never miss such an important detail in his life.

I used to love Hishe vids! I remember the ones for many great Marvel movies, they do a good job of pointing out silly plot holes in otherwise great movies! Haha!

I don't know much about Daredevil outside of the Netflix show, is it possible his new suit is based on some comic iteration? I prefer the stealthier dark red of the Netflix series as well..

I have not seen Dune, is it good? I really liked Avatar, yes! I look forward to it coming back to the big screen, but I worry it won't stand up to the incredible visuals and story of the first movie. It has big shoes to fill.
I agree Hunger Games and Twilight are not good comparisons but around the time they released they were heavily compared due to similar audiences. I really don't think it's fair to compare them though they're completely different genres with small similarities at best. I adore them both for different reasons!
Now that I know you like Hunger Games, I must ask: how do you feel about Peeta and Katniss? They're very divisive, and I personally couldn't buy into their relationship. I'm on the side of Gale + Katniss, but I'm curious to hear what you thought!

Awesome! Will do, I'll check out Fantastic Beasts, if the first really interests me then I'll keep going.
