TL;DR - A really well executed anime that I can get behind most ideas, but I really can’t stand the cruelty the protagonists have to go through. And that has a big impact on my feelings for it.

very gory anime BUT HOLY SH*T, THEY’RE JUST KIDS!
But, overall, it’s a very well done story, with good mysteries, character development and a creative universe. I really appreciate anime that takes us on a journey to discover the world alongside the protagonist. Therefore, I can’t just sh*t on the anime and only talk about how bad it made me feel. I’ll tell you now, if you are sensitive to gore, don't watch this anime.
*There WILL BE a little spoiler at the end of the “Character” section just so I can try to clarify a little bit more the thematic I talked about previously. It will be highlighted so you can skip it if you haven’t started/ended the anime.
Story - 8/10
Made in Abyss (2017) has a very interesting plot. We travel along Rika in her journey to unravel the mysteries of the Abyss as well as her goal to find her mother at the end. Throughout the way, we learn more and more about the universe and its creatures. Each level of the Abyss has its own rules and ecosystems, so challenges are a frequent threat to Rika and Reg’s adventure. But at the end of the day… They are still kids that I really wish didn’t go through all this hell.
Animation - 8/10
The art is very very good. And the character design is that kind of animation that you look at and immediately know what anime it is. The motion is well done, and if I’m not mistaken, it’s all drawn, there’s no CG in the anime, which is astonishing considering the monsters and movements that happen in it. And the artwork is also VERY detailed, every frame has the anime’s atmosphere inserted in it.
Sound - 6/10
Made in Abyss has a cool soundtrack. The opening theme really sticks to you, the ending thought… not really. But the OST in general helps the anime to create the much needed ambience. And the tough moments… Are well produced as well…
Character - 7/10
The characters, overall, have their unique characteristics and a whole bunch of personality. Rika is the energetic kid that is fascinated with the world and how it functions. Her will to keep on going down the Abyss (even with ALL the adversities throughout the way) in her mission. Reg is the mysterious boy that doesn’t remember his origin and life before being found by Rika, and accompanies her to the end of, now, their journey as he wishes to discover the meaning of his own existence. A character that, even though is challenging and cruel to our protagonists, has a soft spot in my heart is Ozen. She may be a big, strong, emotionless, sadistic woman BUT she knows how the Abyss works and knows that she can’t just let Rika and Reg go down like that.
Everyone does their role well.

Nanachi’is added to the plot in the season’s last arc and gives a new perspective to the show. Now we have someone that has gone through the REALITY of the Abyss, and has it’s effects forever present in her skin. Nanachi’s backstory is the point that the anime really started messing me up. Her story, her pain, her fight to try and live happily with Mitty is… Absurd. The scenes that show their lives during the lab is a crime. AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MOVIE, THAT THING IS EVIL. (Check my movie review heh)

Enjoyment - 4/10
If you ain’t as sensitive as me to the thematics brought up by the anime, then you can watch it no problemo. But for me, I really can’t stand how the kids suffer throughout their journey… I will keep watching as sequences are launched because I’m eager to discover the answers to all the Abyss’ mysteries. But the gore and torture they go through is really freaking tough for me to withstand.
Until things start to get ugly, I really enjoyed most of the show, but the last arc hit me too hard…

TL;DR - A special episode that hints a second season.
Story - 5/10 A bath episode between the girls. Also, foreshadows a new character for the (possible) upcoming season. Animation - 6/10 Same as the anime, cute and simple. Now that the characters have being on the beach, they even showed in their skin the tan lines, which is kinda neat. Sound - 6/10 Same as the anime LOL same thing. ...

TL;DR - A very simple, cute and wholesome anime about a girl, Douki-chan, and her efforts to confess her love to her crush. Douki-chan has to defeat her shyness and competition to achieve her goal, and that’s what we watch here.
Story - 6/10 Gambare Douki-chan (2021) has a quite simple plot, so much that I basically summarized everything in the TL;DR. But it’s cool to reinforce that 5 min per episode is a nice trip to go on. Animation - 6/10 The art is cool and simple, not much to say. The only part that kinda bothers me is the lack of eyes and face features in the crush. ...

TL;DR:
If you enjoyed S1, you’ll love this one. It’s more of the same, but now there are some more feelings to it. Story - 6/10 The same thing as before. But now, instead of watching Nagatoro’s arrival in Paisen’s life, you get to see she being a part of his routine and how they get along now. It’s interesting that they start to show more emotions to one another, but it’s still that classic sloooow develop towards an ACTUAL relationship. Animation - 6/10 The overall quality is equal to S1. The dynamics and expression effects are still effective. Soundtrack - 7/10 This part gets an extra point with me because ...

TL;DR: A romcom with more sadism than usual.
Story - 7/10 Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san (2021) tells the story of Senpai (AKA Paisen) and his kouhai, who is very sadistic and loves to torture and tease him in many ways. Nagatoro, the kouhai, is your classic gyaru girl that just wants to have fun and the story focuses on these two dynamics. The fun thing is that they are completely opposite one to the other, at the same time you have a very introverted Senpai, you also have a very extroverted Nagatoro. It’s quite fun. Bokutachi no Remake almost slipped through me in its season, but thanks to a friend, I gave it a chance. And man, was it worth the try. Bokutachi no Remake has one of my favorite genres, which is this time traveling to the past and trying to get your things done in a better way than before.

Serial Experiments Lain (SEL) is built around certain philosophical themes, such as existentialism. It also explores the Sci-Fi genre very well. The anime can be confusing for some viewers and make them get lost in the plot, since the world and character building isn't always straight and simple. But I do believe it is worth a try.
