Hey there, good to hear from you! Yeah, I'll likely always be here if I'm still watching anime. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon either! How have you been?

Crazy to hear you're in Hong Kong, sounds like quite the adventure. And here I thought moving to Texas was a long way from home. Just keep chasing what you want to do no matter what, that's the advice I can give you. I feel the same way about jobs, I can't picture myself ever doing a normal job the rest of my life.

I'll be honest, if I could I would really consider moving to Japan for a couple months and live in a share house or something. Just to put some miles on my soul and experience something new. But I'm completely tied down now.

I'm loving Rising of the Shield Hero, so I recommend that. It's hard to believe that Date A Live has another season airing, I remember back in the day when I first got back into anime that Date A Live was one of the first shows I watched while it was airing. A lot has changed since then, but Date A Live has this sort of comfy feel to it because it reminds me of easier times.

Hey dude, nice to hear from you. A lot of stuff has happened since we last spoke. I've moved to Dallas to pursue an acting career at Funimation. I moved here in October of 2017. Been in an apartment for a year and landed a great job in October of 2018. Now that the holiday is over and I know my job fairly well, I'm planning (and hoping) that I really put my nose to the grindstone in 2019 by taking acting classes.

It's nice to hear you graduated. I dropped college for the sake of moving. It's nice to be independent though.

Hello

I stumbled by here when I was in another profile. Hope you do not mind chatting
So how are you?
takkun_ May 9, 2017 8:06 PM
Hey there, good to hear from you again. I've taken a break from school because of financial problems. But I'm thinking of taking some classes this summer while I work.

I'm basically watching everything you're watching. It's been a fairly fun season so far. The real stand out has been My Hero Academia season 2.

Yes, I'm a big fan of Konosuba. It's such a great show.

As for manga, it's kind of been put on the back burner. I do have a few series I follow closely like Prison School, My Hero Academia, Monster Musume. I need to finish Akame ga Kill and Sekirei though. Speaking of Sekirei is getting a sequel manga, that has me really excited.

No, they're different.

I've been going to college on and off for the past 2 years now. I've come to learn it's practically useless, especially the degree that I'm pursuing. But I've only got about 5 classes left until I can get it. But that requires money, which I just don't ever seem to have enough of.

I'm glad I mellowed out though. Too much to watch and worry about. 3-5 is about the range I'd like to hit, unless of course there's a sudden increase in interesting shows. This season was less than compelling for me, so we'll see how the next goes.

I am however, on an anime buying kick right now. So many different series I'd like to own, or special editions I'd like to buy. Funimation is really killing it lately.

No, that place didn't end very well for me. I went into a 5 month depression and didn't start working until December, I've been working ever since. I finally started more permanent jobs last month.

Personally I've backed off of college and I'm more worried about working than anything else. But at least it sounds like you're enjoying college.

Yep, still as active as always. I wish Raku had ended up with Onodera, because we all know that only Chitoge and Onodera were the only real love interests. But as I predicted, Chitoge came out with the victory. She was the cover girl and she won in the original one-shot chapter of Nisekoi too. The past few seasons I've been watching 15+ shows. I finally cooled it with this season, only watching about 5 shows. What I'd really like to do is start digging into my backlog and working my way through that.

Yeah I've watched everything you mentioned, GATE is especially good.
takkun_ Aug 26, 2016 2:17 AM
Well hey there, it's been a while. Sorry that I never responded. During those months I was in a pretty bad place thanks to all the crap that had happened to me all at once. I'm better now, I think. I've got two jobs and I'm working towards moving to Texas to pursue my acting career. I've also been throwing up a few Youtube videos every now and again.

Speaking of SnO, I'm planning to buy the second season from Funimation within the next day or so, they're having a sale of pervy school titles.

How are you enjoying college?
takkun_ Jul 8, 2015 10:07 PM
Hey, glad you're feeling better! Actually, I DID get the job! I started on July 1st. So far it's been alright. There's a really steep learning curve for their computer system, but I think I'm getting by ok. I have to ask a million questions a day though. The head of HR recommended me a potential opening in another department soon though. The position is in the Merchandising department. My work would be a lot better in there. She said because of my extensive knowledge of anime, I have a strong chance of getting the job! I hope I get it!

E3 was pretty good. I think Xbox outclassed everyone. I too have an Xbox One, so I'm looking forward to the holiday season.

Here's my entire Summer list:
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime - July 7 Funimation
Bikini Warriors - July 8 Funimation
Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen'eki - July 2 Funimation

Classroom☆ Crisis - July 4 Crunchyroll

So I applied a week or so ago, and they called me yesterday! They want an interview tomorrow. So I'll be heading in first thing in the morning. I have a good feeling simply because usually when your wanted for an interview for a job at a low level, it pretty much means I'm in as long as I'm a decent person during the interview, aka having common sense. I'll let you know if I get the job.

Well, that's all you really can do. Thinking positive and having the mindset that things will work out in the end is the best thing you can do. I know that's definitely easier said than done, because I can hardly ever keep that kind of mindset myself.

Did you watch E3? See anything you liked or are looking forward to? Star Fox Zero is looking good, and Fire Emblem got an English Dubbed trailer. Microsoft had a really great conference. Really looking forward to a lot of the games they showed.
takkun_ Jun 8, 2015 10:28 AM
Hey, how've you been? The summer season is just around the corner, I'm REALLY looking forward to Monster Musume.

I'm thinking about applying for a second job at RightStuf. They're one of the biggest anime distributors in America, and they're only 15 minutes away from my house! If I get that job, I'll probably finally move out of my mom's house and get an apartment. But between one job, martial arts lessons, improv lessons, and 2 summer classes, I hardly have any time for anime or manga. My plate is pretty full.
takkun_ May 19, 2015 10:21 PM
Yeah, the first meeting was a great success. We started off with FLCL because one of the guys hadn't seen it. I think next we're going to start The Devil is a Part Timer. Making a club is definitely something I recommend. It relieves stress and is a lot of fun.

Martial arts is fun for the most part. Of course since I haven't worked out in years, I sustained a groin injury the first week of practice. It was really hard to kick, but it finally healed over this weekend.

You probably need a degree in the respective fields for each position, plus intern hours and even previous experience at a different company. Unfortunately that's how the world works, so you'll need to check all of those off before a professional company will hire you. But it seems to me a college degree is a must.

I'll be doing all that, and I'll be taking one class. I have a few more semesters to go before I get my two year degree. I just want it to get it done and over with. I think taking Liberal Arts was a mistake, and I should've just went into a specific field. But it's too late for that, might as well finish. But I'll just be saving money, working, some school, and anime and manga.

Speaking of clubs, a few friends and I have decided to start our own anime club. The friend who originally suggested the idea has 3 or so other friends who are also into anime, so we've got like 6 people on board. I'm really really excited to start watching with them.

Speaking of classes, I actually just signed up for a martial arts class a few days ago. I'll be starting that Tuesday. I'm pretty excited because it's a good workout and it's great to learn self-defense. I did it for a few years as a kid, but I don't remember any of it.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think it boils down to practice. When you get different jobs, and then go to college, you'll be getting some practice.

There's a number of things that someone could do for those companies, besides dubbing, there's video and audio editing, script writing, directing, and so on. Honestly, I'd like to dabble in all of it myself. My dream is to go to places like Funimation and Sentai, start off as a voice actor, then have them offer me more positions like writing and directing. I would love to be totally immersed in the industry. Then go to conventions around the country and meet new people.
takkun_ Apr 18, 2015 10:58 PM
I try to read Nisekoi legally. So I'm only on Volume 7, with Volume 8 being released in a few weeks. It kills me to be behind though.

Honestly, I'm not a positive person. And some days I just go back into my funk of being down. So don't feel like you're alone when it comes to something like that. But overall, my attitude has improved on a number of things. Yes, I'd love to act for anime through Funimation, Sentai, Aniplex, Viz, or whoever. I'd absolutely love to go around to different conventions around the US and meet fans of anime, manga, and fans of my acting. That would be the ultimate happiness for me. I also wouldn't mind doing some cartoons as well.

Well keep looking, especially in places where you know people have similar interests as you. Which is one of the reasons I signed up for an improv acting class at a local comedy club. Besides helping hone my acting skills, it lets me interact and meet with different people. If there's a hobby like anime, or drawing, or something, try to see if there's a club available. I found one of my now good friends in my college's Anime Club.

Something that really inspired me to go meet new people was actually a YouTube channel, believe it or not. It's about this Australian guy who lives in Japan who actually has a series that requires him to go up to complete strangers and he has to ask them questions or do something with them. When I saw it, it made me think "Wow, this guy is literally living life to the fullest by interacting and having fun with all sorts of people. He's building his confidence while learning and experiencing many different things." And that channel was what gave me the confidence to sign up for my acting class to begin with! I'm a pretty reserved and socially awkward person, so hopefully this helps me out.

I'll link the channel for you to check out. His series is called Rejection Therapy. You can find it in his playlists. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRj4ldKbrw3VCpDwW1DpvqA

Hopefully you enjoy watching it as much as I did. Heck, sometimes I go back and re-watch for fun, or maybe for some inspiration.
