I'm not really sure what the point of the story was. What started off as an interesting psychological thriller quickly turns into a sci-fi action. It felt like, a couple of chapters in, the mangaka did not know what to do with the story but had to continue it anyways to get a paycheck.

The core concept is really shallow and I was really dissapointed how Volume 1 ended and the trajectory of M and the heroine. There seemed to be a central mystery, but the story barely focused on it and got revealed in Volume 1 of a 4 volume series. The artist is no ...

Mixed Feelings
Very hit or miss.

I still check over my shower curtain when taking a shower because of Fuan no Tane, and some of the faces still stick with me. I can't say the same for this compilation. The stories aren't that frightening, neither in a jump-scary way nor a lingering way, and they're very forgettable.

I do like the theme of everyone relating stories they heard or experienced, and some of them were genuinely a little creepy, but only a little. I also like that the stories only aimed to be creepy, it felt more like campfire tales which I enjoyed the feeling of.

I have been reading Attack on Titan for nearly a decade. I am not that big of a shounen fan, I've watched Dragonball and have the physical manga series, I watched Naruto pre-shippuden, watched some Bleach, Hunter X Hunter, you know, the basics. However when I first read Attack on Titan it was just differrent. It felt like I was reading the Chimera Ant arc extended from HxH. It was visceral, weighty. Characters died and stayed dead, and sacrifices had actual impact. Or at least, that's what it felt like for quite some time.
