Although I have rated this as average, the second part is actually a solid 7.1 because the last 15 minutes the pacing finally slows down, and we get to see the most beautiful animation of Sailor Cosmos (thanks largely in part due to Sidney Deng's contribution to some key frames as well as the transformation for Chibi-Chibi).

So everyone was right in that the pacing for the films is truly not helping the story develop as it should and it's incredibly difficult to relate to characters when you can't even sit with them. Some cringe scenes occured in part I with no rationale behind them, ... such as a character I won't name switching from random dialogue to breaking out in song, also too many scenes occur on the same rooftop.

The star lights barely get any screen time, look I am sorry but that was the big appeal about this arc. They also took away the iconic music when they transform which is a shame. There is a bit of strange back and forth between "are these new fighters our enemies" and "omg the star lights have a concert tonight even though we just found out their real personas" fangirl moments in the same scenes and it's incredibly confusing. We also never get any closure whatsoever and it's the film's biggest flaw. It's fine to follow the manga but I don't get why not add a one-liner with an explanation at least. in the original version (sorry, yes I will mention it) we not only spend a lot of time to get a feel of their individual personalities but we also get closure, even though that respective ending was rushed and left the story largely incomplete. I feel as though you'd need to combine them to get any sort of satisfaction.

Ultimately, the animation in Part II is much improved, similarly to how Eternal films behaved. The final 15 minutes are really beautiful and well done, incredible use of colours and composition, the atmosphere is good, deep insight into characters. It was fantastic to see Galaxia and we got time to spend with her (unlike any of the other villains in Crystal) and understand her background and motivation a bit, which really helped with the world building and storytelling.

The OST was lacking yet again, apart from the intro music. Still largely choir music mixed with piano and some metal. I feel like 70% of the 90s atmosphere was the music composed by Takanori Arisawa, and the remainder 30% the voice acting. The original had a much much darker atmosphere and it was a bit frustrating to see this largely lacking yet again. It is a bit too vanilla when the manga clearly depicts various violent events. These were never translated into the Crystal remake. It can be quite bland in parts without this element.

The VA for Cosmos sounded bored, no idea what happened there. Still, I enjoyed the 2nd episode and thought it was the best the remake could do with the budget and attention. Nice closure and ending. It felt authentic.
It's sad we never got to spend some time with any of the girls and Usagi's friends in the remake, there could have been more scenes showing the girls bond and build on their friendship. you can't rush these things and just show character 1 cry over the death of character 2 with no background whatsoever and expect viewers to care.

The best thing the studio could do for Sailor Moon is remake the 90s version and get rid of the filler episodes.

Really nice feel-good lighthearted romance anime.
What can I say, if you're looking for a pretty wholesome romance with extremely likable characters, then look no further.
The animation is incredibly cute, the main girl character design is very reminiscent of some 90s/early 00s manga aesthetics and it suits the series well. I actually fell in love with the look.
The premise of this show is quite basic but they make it work through storytelling and side characters. Sure, you will find some cliches that have been done in most romance animes, but they do have a few extra bits added to spice things up.
The chemistry ... between the main love interest works well and at around 10 eps in I can say I'm hooked.

I find that Makoto's work has maintained consistency. It cannot be easy to come up with new ideas all the time and I am fine with the formulaic approach he has chosen (fantasy, adventure sprinkled with some romance and underlying message).
Suzume was fantastic to me and I am really happy I decided to see this in the cinema rather than wait for it to come out on DVD. I liked the characters and despite some minor plot holes (not sure why Daijin was so keen on being Suzume's cat), it was a very enjoyable story.
Animation was fantastic as usual. I appreciated all the ... comical moments, it gave the story a lot of charm.

Another story where we are introduced to a love interest only to have her killed 20 minutes in.
This reminded me of Knights of Sidonia and Hoshijiro's death early on and has a similarly unsatisfying ending. If you're going to do that to a supporting character then do it at the end rather than allow the viewer to hope she may be brought back and reunited with the MC.
In KOS the possibility of Hoshijiro being brought back was teased for a long time only to have her replaced. Same here.
Would prefer either a full on drama and tragedy than a drama sprinkled with ... hope and lack of closure. MC just does a whole "make sure I never meet Shiori in the first place to avert the accident" move. wow, great, what fantastic storytelling. and shoving a Mari-from Eva looking character as his new love interest isn't winning me over.
I'd have preferred it if there was no Shiori ghost and he would have been shown to move on from the event. Or, option 2: if he managed to actually save her and reunite. But the worst part was the premise.
They got into this mess because they found out they were going to be unrelated step siblings. It's so OTT for them to try going for a parallel world.
Otherwise the animation was really nice and I did enjoy the couple's interactions early on. On a similar vibe, Hello World had a similar premise but better execution and ending.

I think this show had potential, despite stories with little explanation. It needed more suitable music (Higurashi-style)
the animation is fine, however the character design is not. You will have cute girls/pleasant looking characters with some obviously grotesque ones mixed in. some of them don't make sense such as episode 1 where we're presented with a small girl who looks like an old man.
Some of the stories are still creepy, however there is little atmosphere. I think partially due to the music. the VAs are fine for the most part/ The writing is not the absolute best but this could have been compensated with some ... good atmosphere, pacing..
the other issue I have is when one of the characters does something completely unnatural and creepy and there is little emotion or reaction from the other persons' part. I mean, you can't portray horror like that.
I found Higurashi creepier despite the cutesy animation style.

First of all, judging by the cover this looks very washed out and outdated but once you get into the story it captivates you like no other anime romance.
You have an amazing soundtrack with classical additions such as music by Tomaso Albinoni and Gustav Mahler. The OST composed by Michiru Oshima is dramatic, emotional and colorful. The characters are fun and the main couple is entertaining in their interactions.
There are some themes present which can be considered problematic in the present time but considering some misogynistic and violent animes released in the past few years (looking at 2021 in particular, I won't give names here) ... this seems harmless and unlikely to influence in a negative way. I found a lot of scenes were suggestive.
There is good character development and the main protagonist is likable with a strong personality.
The romance is good and there is plenty of it. Lots of funny scenes in between the extremely dramatic events which could easily rival a soap opera.
The animation is a bit faded but it grows on you because it's nice and fluid for the most part. If you enjoy retro animes you're in for a treat.

I decided to give this show a go after Youtube's algorithm decided to show me clips of Power meeting her cat for the first time. She captured my interest quickly. I already knew MAPPA was brilliant so decided to take the plunge despite the story sounding generic. I knew of CSM from Hyper Japan 22 as one guy was cosplaying him so figured there was a lot of hype around it already.

I'm glad I did as every character apart from the MC is extremely interesting and the dynamic between the devil hunters is fun to watch. The OST is absolutely amazing, the animation is ... spectacular, the CGI is very well executed and blends well imho.
The atmosphere and world building is fantastic and even if you are not the target audience for this type of anime it grows on you quickly.

MC reminds me of a modern Goku meets Kintaro (Golden Boy) blend minus the interesting characteristics and motivations. It works for the target audience though so not my concern.
Thankfully you have amazing characters like Power and Aki which are far more interesting and layered. Gradually more characters enter the story and it keeps getting better.

I think any other studio would have botched this so really happy to see MAPPA take it on.

To me this anime is a 7/10 (so good) but I class this as campy nonetheless. The OST is actually excellent and I enjoyed the arcs, sure I felt confused as hell when it was all over, but at least the ending sort of explained some things so I guess I can say I really liked it.
There's definitely something about this series that pulls you in !
The character designs are something a la Toei animation (think Sailor Moon Crystal season 1) with some rough anatomy here and there but it doesn't distract too much from the experience. The VAs are doing a great ... job to compensate
Atmosphere is good, I enjoyed the character dynamics and the main theme around trust.
I am not sure whether to recommend this, I guess if you like campy horror then this is definitely for you. I also don't disagree with some of the negative reviews here despite enjoying it, I think some of them have valid points which I won't get into right now.
All in all I think if you like mystery and horror you should be happy with this, it's not as brutal/violent as I thought it would be

Eternal is an anime that looks good when you look at some still shots and the trailer. The animation is still choppy but with some average improvements here and there. It does not have the power to outshine a lot of modern counterparts in this respect. So someone who has not read the manga would likely drop this within the firs 10 minutes.
This arc was more interesting in the manga, this looks like a vanilla adaptation, everything is serene, no impending sense of doom or scary villains, they all come across as non-threats to our main characters
The funny scenes are very underwhelming, I ... can't pinpoint if it's the VA or the animation.
The music is atrocious, bland chorus music mixed with some random guitar (composer used to be in a rock band so that would explain it) but it really REALLY does not in any way shape or form fit the atmosphere or story of Sailor Moon. Music has consistently been one of the worst things about the remake. Not sure why they couldn't just use the old OST, they sure seemed to enjoy reusing the Sailor Neptune Submarine Reflection attack SFX (in part II)
SM is at times a dark manga with some violent scenes and lots of deaths. This music is not reflective of this at all. It's painfully forgettable.
Re-watch value is 0 despite some of the nicer scenes and character redesigns (which are lovely), there is very little tension/drama going on.
Transformations are just lazy copy-pastes of the 90s version, like it's well known Uranus is the only one who got the entire budget for an amazing new attack. I wanted to see a lot more color, literally there is an artist/animator on IG who has recently done a SM transformation remake and it's painfully beautiful to look at and so I know it could have been better, I don't need to see remake of the 90s content, for that I have the original and it seems until a studio like Cloverworks maybe can access the rights to SM we're never getting a good remake.

Ok so I need to stop beating around the bush and start this review by saying I felt way too uncomfortable watching Tsumugi/ Nagate romance develop. I've seen many a strange anime but this just did not resonate with me at all. I'm watching a tentacle alien hybrid monster birthed by what is now a completely ignored and forgotten Hoshijiro who only seems to exist as a sort of incubator. I'm aware she is a placenta-tainted human form but with all the fancy science that works in this series why not be able to separate her from the placenta and implant memories retrieved from the ... ENA. Or idk, they don't even try.
It's gross and demeaning, and here I thought Asuka in NGE was treated in an awful manner by the mangaka/writer.
They tried incredibly hard at the ending by presenting a clone of Hoshijiro who was in fact Tsumugi reborn, I can't even with the science presented in the series, I know it's sci-fi but it seems like anything goes to get the plot going.
The battles weren't as good as previous seasons and there isn't much character development in this apart from Tsumugi.
There is also a cringe moment where the ship's captain breaks down in song to encourage (?) her ship's passangers.
I loved the previous seasons and was really hoping to see Hoshijiro back or at least have Nagate end up with a human, it was so awkward throughout to see Tsumugi obsess over her human lover and they even share a nauseating kiss at one point. Still not sure why they couldn't change the manga ending to make the ending more meaningful.
