Mixed Feelings
This was a tough watch for me, basically because I'm not into episodic storys and most of the episodes seemed like more or less good fillers. In the end i wished i only watched the 5 very enjoyable Vicious episodes and maybe the Jet and Faye background arcs. Especially episode 5 was a great 9/10.

The optics were mostly good except for the computer generated parts that was horribly upscaled for the bluray release, animation was superb and the soundtrack was a pleasant experience. I would recommend to watch only the 10 best rated episodes to make it not as protracted.

I''s (Manga) add
I"s has always been a guilty pleasure to me. There are plenty of flaws especially with the way the story progresses and the clichee characters. The reason I rated this so highly besides the great character art and the main girl Iori. The first chapter gave me an instant crush back when I was 13 and propably a live long preference for cute females in woolen thigh highs and mini skirts.

Back in the day I couldn't get my hands on the following volumes so I read the whole thing in my late 20s and what can I say. If the romance was about a ...

Mixed Feelings
This story has many great traits but suffers from repetitive themes and the lack off some satisfying payoff. Since my enjoyment varied heavily from arc to arc, I want to rate them separately:

1st arc: 9/10
What I enjoyed here was the way the conspiracy was built up and the characters were sucked into it. This really had me on the edge of my seat. Also the link between the harsh adult life and the childhood nostalgia was a strong point.

2nd arc: 6/10
The enjoyment soon vanished, when I realised that the second arc offers pretty much the same progression as the first but with less interesting characters ...

Mixed Feelings
I choose this show because of the high ratings but I'm not impressed at all. It starts of solid but reveals itself more and more as a mediocre Bakemonogatari rip-off along the way.

The production value is good, but it comes without all the weirdness that made the original so outstanding. The harem elements are not too overdrawn but the pseudo-science is kinda annoying. The characters are all based on the usual cliches and don't introduce anything new. The only thing interesting is the depiction of teenagers struggling with their problems.

So the show becomes more of a drag to watch after each arc and I can't ...

"As long as there is life, there is hope". With this premise deeply embedded in it's story line, Now and Then, Here and There shows the impact of war and tyranny more merciless then any other show I can remember. Massacres, rape and torture leave people filled with sorrow and hate. The lust for vengeance drags everything into a bottomless spiral. On the other hand, you have people hoping, caring for each other and trying to make a difference. With these contradicting forces this show avoids to become some dull destruction fest or an overly emotional circle hug. Instead you get questioned about power, human ...

Casshern Sins (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
I'm usually the guy who digs melancholic & sad shows with a deeper meaning but Casshern Sins was pretty much of a drag for me to sit through. It ponders very heavily on it's apocalyptic decay of the world mood while handling reasonable character choices and a consistent story as optional.

The first half of the show is kind of a journey for the protagonist in search of his memories. On this journey he encounters new characters in each episode and we learn about their backstory and the state of the world. The writers try to give every episode / character his own theme, but ...

Mixed Feelings
This is a pretty bloody ronin show with surpringsingly little action. While there is so much gore, it hardly happens in swordfights but all kind of violent situations along the way. The show focuses mostly on establishing on this calm, unsettling atmosphere like in Seriel Experiments Lain or Kurozuka, wich is quite to my liking. Most of the sword fights consist of the characters meditating / starring at each other and are suddenly over in one blow.

Unfortunately this super slow story telling really eats on the enjoyment in the long run. The more episodes you watch, the more it becomes a drag. The story ...

The Manga starts out with an interesting premise and is quite enjoyable to read. The characters are fun to watch and the mystery unfolds nicely. Also the echii is an eye candy and not too overused. You can't expect too much depth regarding the question what might drive humans to exchange bodies but the author at least tries to touch this topic. More than that, it focuses on a game of identifying persons that entered your body. Unfortunately the last few chapters try to force some implausible / cliche twists down your throat. This leaves you with a bitter taste, since the good impression you ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (56/101 chp)
I'm a huge Inio Asano fan since I read 'Good night PunPun'. If it wasn't for that, I propably wouldn't have managed to read DDDD to the recent chapter 56. This manga barely shows any progress in the first 30 chapters and mostly evolves around the all day life of some schoolgirls with the small addition that there is a giant mothership floating aimlessly over tokyo since 3 years.

The rather interesting premise and funny character constellations are completely eaten away by the pure boredom of a almost nonexistent progress in a story seemingly heading nowhere. The art is superb as expected with some goofy ...

I saw Hotarubi ni Mori e recommended in many places and was very curios to watch it. Unfortunately it wastes 35 minutes storywise to introduce the two characters and their relationship in a VERY slow fashion. Alright, you might think, so you get a very intimate view on how they grew close. But unfortunately you mostly see them play together from afar with very little meaningful dialogue. What keeps you from falling asleep are the beautifull watercolored nature backgrounds as well as the simplistic yet intrusive music, that speaks of way more emotions than the story does.

Then suddenly a mere 5 minutes before the ...
