The different gives an extended backstory for ALL OF THE CHARACTERS, art style is the same as the madoka magica manga.
It's based off on the CD 3: farewell story. drawn by hanokage, it's like a what if scenario if mami didn't die.
The characters are just as good as the original ones in madoka magica, gives more details on the relationship between kyoko and mami that was hinted in the madoka magica anime, gives details on kyoko's ENTIRE backstory, fleshes out mami's character, and gave us the mami x kyoko ship.

The premise is amazing, so here's a good synopsis.
Jinta starts tripping because he can see his childhood friend Menma. However Menma is supposed to had been dead for years, turns out Menma is a ghost. Jinta and the rest of the gang is going to fulfill a wish of Menma so she can go to heaven. With that premise you'd think the story is fairly light-earted, but it's actually a tear jerker. The characters are incredibly flawed and complex, the ending was fucking fire not gonna lie. And yes, I'm still depressed after the ending. Menma starts off as kinda annoying but she gets better as time goes on. All the characters ...

season left off where season 1 was, it's kinda confusing for iroha to be with the rumor of the eternal sakura for no reason other than kuroe getting time to shine. but aside from that season 2 was pretty good, kuroe got more screentime. tsuruno wasn't actually just a genki girl, she's actually despressed as fuck. it's kinda forgettable tbh, it should've been with season 3. to make 12 episodes of a season instead. the cameos of the holy quintent made squeal (im a madoka magica fanboy)
9/10 not much to say it just connects the events of season 1 and 3.

season 1 of magia record was ALOT. there was an entirely new setting, a new cast of characters, a group of magical girls called magius.
based off on the mobile game magia record, the anime tries to write an enitrely new story where this timeline will fail. all of the characters are fucking amazing. they all get their own arcs, yachiyo is gay with iroha. (which is wierd, iroha is only 15) magia record expands on the world that madoka magica introduced, there's groups of magical girls, an entire city full of them. a god damn boarding house that yachiyo owns to live with her team ...

magia record final season was amazing, not everything was perfect. sure, the pacing went kinda wack in the end. i don't understand the ending. but it's still in the madoka magica spirit. I'm going to get into spoilers but, it's alot different from the original plot in the mobile game. the animation was great, the characters were good, the music was fucking amazing.

i binged the entire show yesterday, and i can say that it's oddly addicting even though it's not a master piece. the character designs are pretty neat, however i wish it wasn't that revealing. the magical girls in this show have precure esque designs. seeing utena interact with other members of Enormeeta was endearing. however i wish the show made utena meet the big bosses of the villain group earlier and introduce Loco and leberblume MUCH EARLIER. you can skip straight to episode 3 without missing much, as long as you have read the synopsis. the action is fairly good, and the magic system feels

Wacthed the entire show including season 2 and is still watching season 3. I can say that this anime is pretty good. The backgrounds are pretty, it's relaxing. There's tons of details and shows alot of cool facts for camping. nothing always go the way the characters want but that's just how life works. oh yeah, there lots of food shots as well, if you're into that. so unless you have shounen brainrot/ are a MHA fan, you'll definitely like this anime. finished the enitre show including all of the seasons. season 1 seemed nice, there cool world building. There were characters i thought would get development, but it never happened. nothing meaningful ever happens in this show. "Arcs" are extremely fast paced and rushed so you don't even feel like it's a Arc. The characters are bland and boring, deku is trash. go watch something good like madoka magica. if you're a shounen fan go watch frierien. trust me, don't waste your time on this.
