Check the reply on your page if you haven't already. I've seen the 1995 movie. I was using 'series' to denote the Ghost in the Shell universe as a whole, which I agree is misleading since only the 1995 movie directly influenced the Wachowski brothers AFAIK. Revised the review. Do you know if SAC etc influenced The Animatrix (or The Matrix sequels for that matter)? I would be surprised if the Wachowski brothers and the animators they worked with didn't look to SAC for inspiration but it's possible they thought it wasn't necessary.

When I said 'series,' I meant in the more general sense (universe?). I've seen the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie as you may notice from my anime list. You're the second person to have pointed this out, so I suppose I was unclear and should revise the review. Part of the reason I didn't feel like pointing out the 1995 movie specifically is because, to be honest, I didn't really like it. For various reasons, it just didn't draw me in as much.
