It's rare that the character design for anime teaser art catches my attention while browsing. Only four other anime series in the past 10 years have caught attention the way Kageki Shojo!! did from the getgo. And today Kageki Shojo!! adds to my perfect track record of being attracted to the best of the best.
The animation took absolutely no shortcuts. Like none. Every scene, even the silly scenes, is perfectly thought out. I can't even think of another anime that stays this constant with their animation and design. Which fits the entire theme of the show and the actual Takarazuka culture. Perfection.

This manga found me when I needed it most. I'm not really big into slice of life, but this manga left such a lasting impression on me.
The main character and the other characters that surrounded her weren't typical which made the story especially interesting. Each character was really special to me and even years later, I think about them a lot. I admit that I dropped this, like I said I'm not really into to slice of life stories but I can still appreciate it it when it good. There are still scenes I think about when I'm at an aquarium.... aaah now ...

I love this Manga. I really really do. I think about each character's indvidual experience a lot. I've read this manga twice, the last time was about 5 year ago. Every now an then I see a chair that has been lived in and can't help but to think about Bokurano. I know a lot of sci-fi stories have similar plots but this was the first sci-fi story that had known like this.
That being said, I have never reached the last chapter of the manga. The story drags on a little bit too much and I always find myself just a few chapters away from ...

Talk about a masterpiece. This show is not your typical shojo ribon anime. It's an experience.
I started watching it around its series finale. I liked the way it looked but I had no idea what I was in for. I want to keep this review as short as possible because talking too much about it could ruin the experience. You might start watching it for the amazing character design, effortless pacing and/or the nostalgic mahou shojo themes. But you stay for the the sci-fi, deciphering of glyphs and girls love. This anime will always hold such a special place in my heart. It actually changed my life. |
