I don't think you should skip it, you cannot grasp on the story and its world building if you do. Chimera arc is even darker than Yorknew. I suggest you to read Cresherhsm's review on HxH 2011 page, it's pretty much sum it up. Can't explain it any better than that.

Anyway, we've got quite high compatibility. *hi-five*
