"Before I go into the specifics I would like to say one thing. All of these are my own beliefs and I do not expect anyone to completely agree with them or agree with them at all. But as a person who have watched almost all genre of anime, and countless number of shows (I do not really feel like adding all to my profile), I believe my opinion may help someone who has trouble deciding "Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga nai!" is worth their time or not. "
- Wooo! Right off the bat, something unneeded. We all realize this is your opinion. You're not writing a review for someone else. We all also know what a review is for (well, most). If this is your response to those who rate reviews "Not Helpful" due to your ratings, you're not going to help your cause. Oh, the amount of people who have tried in the past is astonishing. Don't hold your breath. If you're really that concerned about it, take my advice: review somewhere else.
Now! Onto the review itself, and if that opening paragraph didn't make you believe I was conceited enough, this paragraph certainly will. Here's the thing with your review: it's not informative. Why? I'll inform you with your own quotes:
"Unlike other reviews, I will tell you this."
- This is a lead-on sentence, end it with a comma, colon, or semicolon.
"I predict that 90% of the viewers will enjoy the show and never no why."
- Interesting. Proof?
"There is not much in the show, but it manages to hook its viewers with its mysterious aura. It presents itself as another generic anime with small twists. That's it. Nothing out of the ordinary. Some twists are even predictable. And yet every time I ask have you enjoyed the show, they reply with a solid yes. "
- Interesting. Have you asked me whether or not I enjoyed this show? Or anybody who gave this show a rating lower than five?
"Story is nothing spectacular. Small stories that lead to a predictable ending is all i can really say."
- If that's all you can really say, then why is there more parts to your review?
"I wouldn't say it was necessarily promoting incest, but it was indirectly doing it."
- Yeah. Indirectly. Look at the title of this anime. Let it sink in.
". . .but every time you snap out an realize the show is about incest, you will think to yourself why you are watching it. "
- I thought this without thinking of the inevitable "Incest ftw!"
"*Another genre that I did not expect from the show was comedy. Every episode there was at least one scene that made me laugh. "
- Nice side note that shouldn't be a side note. Explore this topic!
"Characters are quite bland in the beginning, but begins to develop towards the end of the season getting prepared for the second season."
- So, you're saying this season was just an introductory chapter to the inevitable harem and incest?
"Though they are bland, they are believable than most anime characters. The way they act is human and less of a fictional character."
WHY?
"I would definitely recommend the show. If you ask me, I would have a hard time answering."
- Don't contradict yourself, buddy.
"But if you want a show that will lift you up and make you laugh, this is the show for you. "
- Where in the review did you make this apparent? All I got from the review is that viewers will like this anime for absolutely no reason, yet will also be able to relate to the otaku culture, be grossed out by the implied incest, find the characters bland, and laugh at the suddenly introduced, yet never explained, comedy.
If you haven't realized it yet, I'll say it bluntly: you haven't really said anything at all. First and foremost, where's the section on animation?! The animation is what made me foolish enough to watch OreImo in the first place! Why wouldn't that be discussed in your review? And the comedy. Where is this comedy? What makes it funny? Is it the otaku culture? Is it the incest? Is it the blandness of the characters? What are the characters like? Who are the characters? They aren't just pieces of bread, they're characters, with personalities. Explain them to the reader. Make them have a reason to either shy away or get involved with the anime. Tell me more, tell me more, tell me more!
I saw a few grammar errors in there, but they're excusable since there weren't many. The only thing, which I keep repeating, is for you to describe your claims, and back them up with valid information. Art ---> It's good ---> It's good because it draws you in. Voila. There's what you need to do in your review. Keep at this, and your future reviews will be the cream of the crop, or any other metaphor for "really good."
