Sweat Punch (Anime) add
Preliminary (1/5 eps)
This review is for Kigeki (Comedy).

The story of how a girl manages to enlist the help of a mass cannibalistic murderer to get the rid of the evil brutish British because thats what they deserve...yes, we will add lots of special effects to disguise it.

What struck me at first was the well designed backgrounds and art in general of this 10 mins of fairy tale story. The special effects were particularity good and the visuals were well created, the characters emotions, rather, lack of emotion, was evident from this which fits in with the whole mass murderer feel to the story.
I can see why ...

This anime scores good points all round from my perspective. The story is good and the characters are pretty well connected with each other.
The chosen sport of skating is very well done by the animation studio and they have got the correct "feel" for the sport, it feels elegant and smooth as if the viewer was actually on ice him/her self which gave the series a slight edge to other sports anime.
The characters support each other well in this series and brings out the struggle the main characters feel to achieve the best they can on the rink with the added pressure of being a ...

I knew this series would be good from the get go after watching the first 10mins despite looking average on paper.
The plot isn't particularly involved as other anime and it looks like the reason for the main character to attend an all-girls school is rather shoddy on paper, however, this is quickly forgotten after the excellent comedy routine and characters are developed.
There is little story as such, but the main focus is on how the main character copes with his new dilemma in an all-girls school which becomes slightly over-the-top sometimes but retains a sense of seriousness when interacting with other characters that need his ...

Family Complex is another of Mikiyo Tsuda's masterpieces which i enjoy to this day :P
Published before the parent story "Princess Princess" this Manga focuses on the family of the Sakamotos' who are abnormally beautiful apart from 14 year old Akira who feels "normal" from the rest.

The story takes the form of taking the point of view of the various siblings and parents about life in the family and what it means to be "beautiful" and that beauty is not as glorious as it may seem to be.
It also has very powerful messages about looks and family life in general while adding that bit of comedy ...

Death Note (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
If you like psychological thrillers then i suggest you go watch a James Patterson movie.
Death Note did not cut it for me, the endless (and sometimes random) mind fight between L and Light gets tedious a few episodes in which slows down the plot considerably.
The Sherlock Holmes logic of the characters reduced to intricate details like the colour of a chair (or something) which leads to a massive, yet not massive, clue to the identity of L or Light repeats itself several times always ending in a stalemate and some cliffhangers which i said to myself "Here we go again".
The character designs are ...
