Michiko is a feisty and sexy woman that escaped from a maximum-security prison. Hatchin is a bright girl trying to break free from her foster-family. Both go on a trip to find Michiko’s former lover and Hatchin’s father and, also, to ultimately find freedom.
Set in a country resembling Brazil, Michiko to Hatchin is a vivid and colorful tale of two people striving for freedom.
The studio behind the anime is Manglobe, also the creator of such gems as Ergo Proxy and Samurai Champloo, providing amazing quality in animation and art. Everything in Michiko to Hatchin is eye-catching: the backgrounds, the colours, the angles of the camera. Even the music, which was produced by Shinichiro Watanabe and composed by Kassin, adds to the engrossing Latin atmosphere of the series. A mix of bossa nova, samba, funk and other genres, it succeeds in complementing the action taking place in every episode.
Maki Yoko (The Grudge) and Ohgo Suzuka (Memoirs Of A Geisha) were in charge of providing the voice to the protagonists. You’d think that two amateurs in voice-acting wouldn’t do a great job, but they actually pulled it off amazingly and added even more to the already powerful personalities of both Michiko and Hatchin.
But what makes Michiko to Hatchin special is the realism with which is portrayed the story, not only of the main characters, but of those that surround them, from Atsuko, Michiko’s former best friend, to Batista, the leader of the biggest gang in the country. Every secondary character is given a background, which gives you the possibility of feeling close to them, even with characters that appear only in one episode, like Pepê. The story takes many unexpected turns, simply because it’s not what one would see in a typical anime and, most importantly, because many times we wished it wouldn’t turn out like that. Nevertheless, it’s this characteristic what makes Michiko to Hatchin so refreshing and enjoyable.

Che chabona (?) Cuándo terminás de rendir? Yo acabo de rendir esta mañana y tengo otro el jueves, ponele que me vaya bien en los dos... Si es así, el finde del 14 me doy una vuelta por BsAs que pensaba ir a las Jornadas del Manga y el Anime en el Japo Garden. En realidad le tenía ganas a la Animate pero se me hace muy tarde y bleh, tengo ganas de ir a algún evento XD O son muy chotas?
No es seguro si voy todavía igual, depende cómo me vaya en los exámenes esta semana.

Recién lo vi. Es tan tan tan TAN cute. Seremos dos pelotudas, pero para mí también está para llorar y no de tristeza, es que este capítulo me dejó igual que el anterior, tan... no sé, ni siquiera sé cómo expresarlo XD No recuerdo cuándo fue la última vez que un anime me dejó así :'3 Me da ganas de ir y apachurrar a Sawako y el resto del grupete T^T
Definitivamente no me decepcionó en lo más mínimo la adaptación, de hecho es mucho mejor de lo que me esperaba, Mamiko es perfecta para Sawako y y y <3
