I mean, it's Kawajiri. What else do I have to say.
Went in with normal expectations though, was hoping it might be as fun as his other OVA projects. To start, I don't know exactly why I chose the dub, just went in blind. The fact that it was the immortal Steve Blum as Goku was an absolute treat. The rest of the dub, let me just say is a bit dated. There was some pretty hilarious moments with Yoko's voice actress which had me laughing.
Overall, though not as completely off the wall as Wicked City, the peacock woman is about as close as ... we can come.
Don't have much to say about the actual show though I do highly recommend viewing. The final line of this first part is just gold.

This will encapsulate my review also for the first Clannad show as well as After Story. Overall while I did not fall in love with either series I can see why After Story is held in such high regard. Though this is not some faults in my own opinion. I think generally the first series is good enough with some tropes that I'm not too big on, though given the time it was made and blah blah it makes total sense. Maybe I'm weird but the Fuko plotline in the original series was the only one that kept me hooked. Then when it wrapped of ... course the main Tomoya/Nagisa stuff was good but there was some unnecessary stuff in between. Felt at times it probably would have worked way better as a 12/14 episode show vs 22/24.
Jumping to After Story now, I was really confused as to why this was so highly rated until about halfway through when it finally started to get interesting and I actually starting caring. The whole thing with the Misae and her long lost love was good and all but it almost felt out of another show and I mostly wanted to move on back to the main story. But of course once the second half of After Story really got going I was pretty hooked. Generally just felt like a whole different, slightly better show from then on. Mostly the drama worked really well, though there were a few times the sappy really happy to really sad moments were a little too much for me. Show definitely ended on a good note.
Surprisingly even the extra episode and the two different routes with Tomoyo and Kyou were also quite good. I especially liked the extra episode where Nagisa and Tomoya had their own separate stories going alongside each other, quite well done that one.
Overall, besides looking incredible (the show really deserves the praise on animation for sure, especially that hair movement and stuff, my lord) the show is more on average with the sort of genre that this falls in. Glad I watched, don't regret anything there.

I wish that I could just write a shorter review, but I guess MAL only lets long stuff.

This movie is good. But.

The damn soundtrack is just a 10, more than a 10 in fact. Just so great makes me want to rewatch just for the music.

Overall haven't heard that much Kenji Kawai but in terms of what I have, as great as GITS is, this soundtrack just slaps the hardest.

Ok, apparently that review was for some reason not long enough? Why is there such a long requirement. Wanted to just say a couple of words about the soundtrack and the magical Kenji Kawai but I guess I'll just have to throw in some run-on sentences just for the hell of it.

At this point I guess I just will refuse to write anything more about the movie itself as good as it is. This just started as purely me wanting to say how much I liked the OST but I guess the MAL gods just won't let me have it easy huh.

To summarize, good movie bro. Maybe I haven't mentioned the music yet.
