I would say Soul Land is challenging to get into at first, since it looks pretty much like an xbox game, but honestly, the further you get into it the less and less you notice that aspect. It actually works very well for the show. Depending on the translator you watch, there may be some inconsistencies, so take care in being flexible with your reading of the subtitles.
Essentially the main character rises to prominence in his clan, but those among them did not trust his ascent and tried to extricate his position. He chose suicide to prove his loyalty, and is reincarnated
...
in a parallel world where people gain power by collecting the souls of powerful creatures inhabiting special forests.
The fight scenes are epic, the music and sound works well with the anime, and the pacing seems steady, if not fast in some places, keeping the watcher from becoming bored. The main character is endearing and honest, but at the same time, flashes of his nature as a martial artist spark in his current life where he borders on cunning brutality.
It's worth taking the chance. If you haven't seen a good martial arts fantasy in a while, it is very much something that will satisfy you.

My rating scale isn't exactly standard, but I will express for the sake of this review, I rate an anime a "10" for one reason and one reason alone.
It stays with you long after you have seen it. It evokes that empty and lost feeling after one finishes a book in which they were particularly invested, something that, I believe, almost tangibly changes you, if only in the smallest of ways. I believe anime of this nature convey something that we can't quite put our finger on, be it human nature, or something more obscure.

Violet Evergarden is not a rushed anime. The story is paced, but not painstaking. The character development is slow and unbalanced because the character herself is emotionally slow and unbalanced. There's no one that stands out as particularly amazing, and there is no hero in this story. Everyone struggles, and I think this anime does an incredible job in expressing this poignantly, desperately, and tinged with the elegance only raw emotion conveys, both though the protagonist and through the surrounding characters.
Prepare yourself. This is not an anime that will bring you joy, but one that will break away a piece of your heart and take up its home within you.

This anime is what I would consider shoujo or josei. It's not some fantastical amazing unique plot. I would even say the plot is mundane, but it is sweet, and the efforts the animators put into the art and music truly imbue a certain magic in the appeal of each episode. There is nothing perverted, demented, or vulgar. It's the adorable story of a teenage girl who whimsically falls in love with a pushover adult man and it does a good job of displaying his circumstances and personal feelings. You get a more complete

picture of the couple as their struggles aren't simply comedic misunderstandings.
This isn't realistic, as it is anime. We don't watch anime for the realistic scenarios. This isn't some blockbuster 10/10 anime, as that isn't really this genre's style.
However, I guarantee this is sweet, enjoyable, and a good change of pace. The writers don't waste time in creating developments, and every moment is a feast for the eyes.

This is an Otome game in a nutshell. Generic unrealistic summarized story of girl finding herself in a parallel alternate path of history with beautiful bishounen puppy boys and vampires that are all warring. She just so happens to have magic blood that gets all the boys in the club tipsy. She makes her way from warlord to warlord making them all swoon by existing as a normal human being and looking and acting very normal. There's basically no complexity to the story, no depth, and the animation of the fight scenes could have been portrayed better as a flip book.

the other hand, the actual art is pretty decent. If you want to watch exceedingly pretty men for 12 episodes, this will give you that fix. The protagonist heroine has zero personality, so she's easy to ignore. To the staff's credit, the voice acting is very good, and I would give it a 9/10. Character development is mild, and backstory is generic, shallow, and pretty much the anathema of the typical juicy backstory one usually craves in anime.
Overall, this is an anime that is crap between 2 pieces of bread, but for those of you(like myself) that enjoy garbage every now and again, just look at the crap sandwich from the above view(i e zone out whilst watching the bishies and listening to their sexy voices) and all you see is nice toasted bread.
5/10 would watch again,
would not recommend.

I was hesitant to watch this anime, given the synopsis explained led me to believe it would be a lighthearted comedy, a genre to which I am not particularly partial. I put off watching it for quite some time, until I had caught up with all the currently airing anime I'd been interested in, and in my idleness, I decided to watch it.
I marathon-ed this anime in two days.
The story was not the most colorful or elaborate, but it was rich in culture and backstory. I must say, if you are a sucker for backstory, it shall be sated here, rather

than left out to wither away in the recesses of space and time, like so many other anime.
The art, while well above average, fell short of remarkable. It made the anime much more visually appealing than I was expecting, and despite the "bishounen" vibe throughout, the characters were not overly flowery and obnoxious in that regard. The environment was done beautifully, with especial care given to the sky and to the castle art.
The sound in this anime was quite nice. I would say it was not necessarily unique or remarkable in the everyday moments, but the anime focuses a lot around the heroine's singing, which is done in such a way the viewer enjoys it more each time, rather than a taxing noise to fast forward through as the producers provide tiring filler content.
The main characters were enticing and colourful, providing a refreshing reprieve from the blase stereotypes of females who are over sensitive and never forgive, and males who are either too brutal or too soft. The heroine is strong, but nothing superhuman, and the male character is emotionally realistic to the experiences he owns. I would say my only desire would have been for the secondary characters to be a bit less flat.
This anime carries a dark and flavorful theme throughout, and I would recommend it to everyone.
