I'll try and keep this short and sweet.
This anime was a solid 7 for me until about episode 18 where it really zooms in on character motivations and backstory. From that point on it is beautifully crafted, full throttle action. Everything leading up to those last 6-7 episodes becomes a whole lot clearer and you can really sit back and enjoy everything you've seen.
I will admit that personally, I am someone who is bothered when anime/television programs take a while to kick in. I do not want to have sit through 8 boring episodes of viewing just for the 9th to be good, but

I'll preface this by stating that I had no prior knowledge of the story or characters before I watched this film.
Now, as it's the main reason I'm choosing to write this review I'll simply say that Yama is far and away the worst written anime character I have ever had the sheer displeasure of watching to date. His motivations are meaningless at worst and wholeheartedly flawed at best. He has zero sense of self and is for the most part an empty shell that both Harlock and Ezra use as a mouthpiece.
