This manga is an anthology of 7 short yaoi stories, and I must say they are quite spicy. The most notable thing about Sailor Men is that the author does not shy away from showing gratuitous sexuality like other BL artists do. Gone are the vague pleasures of expression and steam clouds, having been replaced with detailed artwork of male anatomy with minimal (almost pointless) censorship. This manga falls much more into the H category than merely "erotica" and for that it demands praise. Focus on romance is minimal and is merely a narrative device to for the characters to sleep together.

Most of the characters ... have a toned, muscular physique without completely approaching bara. This is still a bit too muscular for my taste, as I prefer thinner characters, and this may be an issue if you are looking for more androgynous characters.
Some chapters contain themes of BDSM, pet play and sexual violence (particularly chapters 5-7), and they're also the weakest chapters in the book from a story and art perspective. The titular "Sailor Men" appears in chapter 2 and features crossdressing themes.

In summary, this manga is for those looking for graphic sexuality with some kink thrown in, with a variety of scenarios for added flavor. Those looking for fluff with deeper intimacy, showing the growth of a bond or relationship should look elsewhere. The artwork and anatomy are very good, and are what make this manga memorable.

The heteros are at it again. *spoilers*

Let me make this clear: I'm a big fan of romance anime, and in fact I would say I tend to prefer straight couples in many circumstances. However, my inner geologist cannot help but blame Hodaka for knowingly causing the flooding and subsequent destruction of the largest metropolitan area on the planet, leading to displacing and endangering the lives of millions of Japanese citizens and causing billions of dollars in damages. It's hard to treat the end of this movie as a "happy ending" just because a runaway juvenile delinquent gets to be with the girl he likes. I ... don't know what the message of the movie is supposed to be, if it has one at all.

That being said, that is my only major gripe with this movie and I enjoyed it a great deal. The scenery and artwork are outstanding, organic and full of life. The characters' motivations are realistic and they're very charming and full of character.

It's not abundantly clear why it's raining in Tokyo so much, or why Hodaka ran away from home in the first place, so the story had some holes in that regard, but they didn't detract too much from the movie as a whole.

If you enjoy movies more for their artistic aspect and lovable characters, I think you'll like Weathering With You a lot. If you take issue with generic storylines, plot holes and nonrealistic decision making, or want a clear good ending that tells a message about the nature of life, love, or morality, then you might not be able to overlook these issues. Try to bask in the incredible art direction and avoid overthinking this movie too much.
