As far as anime adaptations for games go, this one isn't the greatest, yet at the same time it is inoffensive to its source material.
Story: 5
The story of Alter Memory is to the Blazblue franchise what a recap episode is to a season of any other anime: more enjoyable if you've gone through the original airing/game. Alter Memory focuses mainly on the key story elements from Blazblue Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift, and glosses over many of the other plot lines from those games.
Art: 7
The art really varies between scenes, for some, it is quite fluid, and for others, it's a little odd (Looking at
...
you, Jin's Ice Brick), but it's not jarring enough that the viewer will be turned off.
Sound: 9
Considering this is an anime based on a fighting game, the only way its sound track can go is up, and Alter Memory delivers, not to mention one of the first tracks played is Ragna's theme 'Rebellion'.
Characters: 5
This is the part that usually makes or breaks this adaptation, considering most of the characters get glossed over for Ragna, Jin and Noel, but when the characters do appear, they at least remain true to who they are.
Enjoyment: 8
As someone whom has played through the story of both games, I found this to be an enjoyable treat as a fan.
Conclusion:
I'd only really recommend this if you've played Blazblue before, as you'd get more enjoyment out of it then.
