Usually someone doesn't belong strictly to one side, but to both. As for me I think I'm mostly B-type lol.

The difference between the two is that A doesn't care who the voice actor is as long as its good, and B only looks at which specific voice actor is doing it eg: Horie Yui. That's why Seiyuu have fanbases behind them, and people who belong in these fanbases are likely to be B-types. Clannad's lighting, background and other art is a good example of what an A-type would like, whereas the character design of Clannad is what a B-type would look like. The two sides don't conflict each other, they can work well with each other if done correctly. Anime also aren't specifically A-type or B-type, they can have traits from both, but the is usually a higher focus on one or the other.

A values stories - This means that A would not watch a show like Lucky Star or K-On because there is little to no plot development.
B values characters - This means that even if the story had no plot development, as long as there's cute characters being cute or w/e they will enjoy it. Therefore fanservice is appreciated by B-types but not A-types.

I hope things have been cleared up for you, feel free to ask more and I will attempt to help lol.

Was the explanation you've read on it this one? http://forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=142998
I could try to explain it to you if you'd like.

I'm rather bad at writing, so maybe that's why you got the wrong idea from my review lol. I consider myself one of these B-Types too haha, it's just that I prefer to give anime a rating based on how well I thought they were done, as opposed to how much I like them. My current favourite anime is Seitokai no Ichizon, although honestly I believe it's pretty average thus I gave it a 6/10.

Actually, after re-reading my review, I realised that was never what I said, nor explicitly hinted at (excuse me I've got a huge headache right now). Here's probably what you wanted "jokes will probably get too old for anyone who's not used to watching shows about nothing" I stand by my argument fully, I'm pretty sure the majority of people who don't meet the specified criteria will not enjoy the jokes after the 2nd or 3rd episode, if not the first.

This was what I first commented "Why will it get boring? It's a repetition of these already overused gags." This only applies to those who are "not used to watching shows about nothing".
Cheers.

I'll admit, both of these shows are for moefags only (not strictly speaking, but hopefully you get what I mean). What's cheap about KMB is the production quality. Yes, the point of the show is to be funny, that is only my prediction of the series, because I get the feeling I've seen these gags elsewhere, and the majority of the gags also follow this trend. Why will it get boring? It's a repetition of these already overused gags. The only reason why I put originality in the equation is because although both KMB and Lucky Star share a very similar format of storytelling, but Lucky Star did it first. With KMB doing it later, it's evident that you can see resemblance of Lucky Star in KMB.

By the way, my enjoyment for KMB is 8. It's not that I don't like the show, it's that while I find it entertaining to watch, I can't shrug off the fact that it's pretty much crap.

Here's the thing, watch Lucky Star and KMB side by side, also taking into account the animation quality, background music, and all that. Here is where Lucky Star excels over KMB. Also, Lucky Star was one of the first in that genre, where KMB is one of the newer ones, and here Lucky Star has an advantage over KMB because it was original, at the time.
Basically, the main difference is that although they are both stories of practically nothing, Lucky Star was done better as an anime. You've heard of Motteke Sailor Fuku right? Cheers

Thanks. I always mention to people that I don't expect them to agree with everything I say-- if someone does, then they'd be a clone of me, don't you think?
