I would recommend giving it a shot for the first three episodes, but not longer than that. This show has a really good first episode, arguably one of the best out there in terms of animation and also in storytelling, showing us the terrible work culture in Japan and comparing it with a zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, this show gets worse and worse in both story and production as it goes on. I would say that it is a show that had a lot of potential but failed to deliver a compelling story with memorable characters.
Its strongest points are the character design, original story, and its
...
first couple of episodes. It is definitely a hit or miss but I think is worth giving it a shot.

If you've already watched the two seasons, then watching the movie is worth it, although I understand all the controversy surrounding how this show ends.
"The Quintessential Quintuplets" has sparked considerable debate, particularly with its polarizing finale. Fans who liked this ending argue that it's acceptable for the character with the least character development to win in the end, which is understandable. However, the issue is that Yotsuba didn't have much prominence in the anime, leading many people to not empathize with her. I think her backstory is pretty interesting and I would highlight it as the best thing about this movie. However, that's the main
...
problem, that it wasn't shown until this movie and I feel it lacked time to really empathize with her and understand why Futaro would choose her.
I feel that the movie overall took the plot too seriously (almost no comedy) and rushed the ending with little to no context about why the main character chose Yotsuba instead of the others. Honestly Futaro developed a way closer relationship with many of the other girls that feels a bit weird how this show ends.
The second season of this show is really good, but unfortunately, they couldn't close it as it deserved.

"Masamune-Kun's Revenge" stands out in the crowded field of harem anime with its unique spin on the genre. It presents a story that, at first glance, appears to follow the traditional harem formula but quickly diverges with its focus on revenge rather than romance. The protagonist, Masamune, seeks to turn the tables on his childhood crush, Aki, by making her fall for him only to reject her, a plot that introduces a refreshing narrative of personal transformation and retribution.
While the series indulges in some typical genre conventions, such as predictable plotlines and fan service, it distinguishes itself with its approach to storytelling and character development.
...
The narrative is peppered with twists that keep the viewer engaged, and the pacing is well-managed, blending comedy and drama effectively.
The animation and sound design are competent, supporting the story without stealing the spotlight. Character development is adequate, with some characters falling into familiar tropes but still offering enough depth to maintain interest. The series' exploration of themes like self-improvement and the consequences of revenge adds a layer of complexity not often found in harem anime.
Overall, "Masamune-Kun's Revenge" offers a distinctive experience within its genre, making it a worthwhile watch for those seeking a harem anime with a twist. Its execution may not be flawless, but it provides a compelling narrative that balances humor, drama, and a bit of introspection.

This anime is a refreshing take on the harem genre, offering something more than just the typical romantic entanglements. I would recommend it for viewers who are looking for show to have a good time but not taking it too seriously. This show has already a second season so the hate that it used to have for the way the first season ended shouldn't discourage you from watching it.

To keep this brief for people that don't want to read the whole review. If you don't like fan service/Ecchi, and cliche stuff this is not your show. If you are looking for the typical rom-com with fan service and good characters this is your show.
Spoilers begin now!!
Grading scale from @Mcsuper.
Story 12/25
The plot is cliche but with a bizarre twist related to the marriage practical thing. Overall, the story is quite predictable and honestly, it all comes down to the characters not being honest with themselves and not being brave enough to confess their feelings which is very typical for a rom-com. The most interesting
...
part of the plot is Akari's story because she actually gets conflicted about her true feelings now that she has to live with someone (Jiro) while still in love with Tenjin. The love triangle is entertaining and you can even feel uncertain about with whom Jiro is going to end.
Art 8/10
The art is probably the strongest point of the show. The animation is great in most chapters, there are just a couple that is poorly animated. The character design is really cool, they did a great job in portraying Akari's and Shiori's personalities in their design.
Music 8/10
The music is also good, I loved the ending theme and the OST does a good job as well.
Characters: 15/20
The main character Jiro is pretty annoying since he is a coward and he has almost no character development during the whole season. The other two girls have to take the initiative all the time and he can never take a single decision by himself. He does some stuff he would never have done at the beginning of the show but still, he lacked more development. The two other protagonists, Akari and Shiori, did have better development over the chapters and I like them a lot. Akari had a journey to understand her own feelings, she takes the initiative with her love interests a lot and has a great personality. Shiori does the same as well although she does a lot of nonsense things such as kissing Jiro twice and not even confessing her feeling to him. Like, how is easier to kiss someone twice than tell him you like him? The other characters are just fine, some of them are funny like Kamo but they are not relevant to the plot and they did a great at not giving them unnecessary screen time.
Enjoyment 13/15
Even though I had to stop the chapters several times because of the number of cheese scenes and especially cringe scenes I really enjoy watching this show XD. All the characters except Jiro are very charming.
Thematic Execution 15/20
They did a good job with the marriage theme and the typical love triangle between a childhood friend and the pretty girl is on point. I would've liked to see a deeper plot on how conflicts may arise between two people living in the same house but they seem to have everything under control.
Final Score: 71/100

Hello folks,
This show started very well, however as you get further in, things get a lot more blurred as to the direction the story is going to the point where you can't tell if any of the mc relationships have gotten anywhere.
So it took me a while to finish this show but I finally did. My overall impression is that there is almost no progress in the plot or character development since chapter 12. They even ended the show with Nagi and Erika saying "I can't stand being engaged with you" which refers to chapter 1. Therefore, No progress at all.
The main characters are good
...
I guess. I liked the three female characters, they have pretty different personalities and have interesting interactions with the MC. However, their relationship does not progress at all. Probably, the relationship between Hiro and Nagi is the one that progresses the most but for a 24-chapter anime is too slow.
The worst part of this show is Erika's brother sub-plot which is not resolved at all and is pretty much irrelevant for the characters. The best of this show is its character design and even though the animation quality is pretty average they made some cool scenes.

In summary, this isekai tries to be as different as possible from the basic formula that we have seen for this anime genera. Nonetheless, the main character is very plain. It does not show any character development from his previous life as an assassin. In addition, the female characters in this show are simple as hell. Furthermore, I can not understand why the characters have such a young age, especially when they are being sexualized constantly; why not only make them young adults or in their final teenage years. It is hypocritical to have an episode related to pedophilia and human trafficking. Then the protagonist
...
manipulates two girls to join his freaking harem. On top of that, the relationship does not seem from someone just thirteen.
Suppose they want to reinvent the isekai genera. In that case, they should write better female characters that are not only there to constantly praise the main character. Additionally, age should matter, and they can get rid of their weird fetish.
