良い一日を!
I understand your reason for not liking FLCL. As i said before not everybody will like it. It really is a anime full of randomness, but it does have a interesting story.....but to understand it you have to piece the story together yourself. As i said before i had to watch it 3 times just to understand WTF was going on. Also i really liked Haruko. :P
As for Akame Ga Kill........i kinda have no words for that anime......it was fun at the beginning but just like you, i got tired of it. Well at least i'm still enjoying the manga.
Also i have already watched Hellsing Ultimate. I must of forgotten to add it to my anime list. :P
(i'm sorry if there's spelling mistakes)
Well if we talking about FLCL, what i really liked about it was how over the Top/crazy the animation was, It was like Kill La Kill, Gurren Lagann and Top wo Nerae 2! Diebuster, Well the same people who worked on those 3 anime also made FLCL, so it's understandable why the anime was so crazy and awesome. Yes the story is not easy to understand and the anime has it's problems and not allot of people may like the anime charm.......but that doesn't change the fact that it's a really enjoyable anime to watch. I did have 2 watch FLCL 3 times to fully understand the story. xD
And
Akame ga kill on the other hand......*sigh* to be honest i enjoyed the anime......but it was a disappointment. I guess what a find enjoyable in Akame ga kill was the blood, gore and action.......i'm sorry i'm a little f*cked up in a way. I enjoy blood, gore and action in anime and seeing some of the bloody scenes from the manga animated was great.......but other then that i didn't really like the anime. Because it turned into a anime only series and stopped following the anime. ( -_-)
I think you missed what I'm trying to say. Of course in most cases good guys win, but in Fairy Tail they always win the same way, it's always nakama power-up.
>that arc with the dragon
Except that it was a happy ending, they didn't end up being dead. Not to mention the way they survived was pretty contrived.
Also a character being likeable =/= well-written. I never said they should all be good, but I can't find a single decent character in Fairy Tail.
I'm not sure where to start from, mainly because everything about it is terrible , aside from the soundtrack which is good. Anyway I could've gone a bit more into detail but keep in mind that it's been a good while since I've watched it, so I'm sorry about that.
One of the problems with FT is that it's too repetitive, every arc basically follows the same formula over and over again, and the characters remain static for the most part. Of course, this isn't always necessarily a bad thing, there are some other anime that are sorta repetitive and I still consider good but at least they have some merits to them like One Piece (it is unparalleled when it comes to its grand scale and it gives off a great sense of adventure), however Fairy Tail does not like I said earlier. It gets predictable after a while when everything is solved through "nakama power-ups" (which are asspulls) that Natsu gains to defeat his enemies. And it's not just Natsu, but his friends as well. We all know Natsu and his friends will save the day, and it gets extremely predictable after that. Even when twists do happen to spice things up, they have no foreshadowing at all. The series is unable to maintain a logical plot or internal consistency. I also found the comedy to be cringeworthy. Of course, opinions tend to vary when it comes to what makes a good comedy, but it was not my cup of tea. Even that got repetitive after a while. I could go on and on about its problems, but I think you can get an idea of why I hate it.
In short, Fairy Tail encompasses every single shounen cliché that exists, and it's as generic as it can get. If you like it that's fine, but it gets tiring seeing them getting repeated over again especially when I've watched more shounen than you did.
>FLCL
It's a polarizing series, so I can understand why you don't like it. However I don't think it's just "random nonsense" like a lot of people including you do.
There is pretty much nothing like FLCL in the medium. It uses the insanity of it's plot to further the message of how weird puberty is for a kid growing up. I also love how it's characters are surprisingly complex and realistic... in terms of emotional response and personality anyway. Whether it be Naota who is a very pretentious little brat who thinks he knows everything about everything but breaks down once he doesn't understand something and has to learn how to deal with it or Mamimi who is clearly suffering from abandonment issues as well as being an outcast and bullied at school. It's hard to talk about it in full though since practically everything in the show is a metaphor for something and how each person interprets it can sometimes be very different. That being the case, it's not a show for everyone.
To me though, it's very good. It's a great coming of age story, has fantastic characters, an insane plot that helps further the message of the weirdness of puberty, it has amazing action, and multiple experimental art styles which perfectly captures all the back-and-forth cognitive chaos of Naota and some of the other children/adolescent characters - but the direction is so tight that the piece knows when to apply the breaks and have the characters engage in bouts of self-reflection. Also it has one of the best soundtracks in the medium. On top of that, despite it's utter insanity, it's actually VERY subtle with a lot of stuff too. It never outright tells you anything, it shows you instead and I like that about it. It's both a show you can think about for hours or just sit back and enjoy the insanity and action. It only being 6 episodes makes it easy to rewatch too.
Still, despite all the praise, I can't give it a higher score because the symbolism felt a vague at times because the tone was a bit lighter than I think it was supposed to be and its pacing was too fast which made it seem all like random nonsense. I don't know, maybe it was done purposely but I still think it would've benefitted if the pacing slowed down.
Btw, you relieved a lot of stress that I had this day. Thanks.
I had other people ask me the same question, but I was never serious before, so I don't know how that happened.
It is not mean to ask questions. Unless, your tone when you typed was mean
I really hate myself for writing so much. Just please read from the "another tl:dr to the bottom. You don't have to reply to any of this if you don't want. I am not sure if you are one those people that needs an "Imo" at the end of every sentence in order to know all of this is just my perspective and in no way am I forcing it on you. If you do read all of this, be wary I might have made a lot of mistakes.
I do wonder why I rate low. Using numbers in general to evaluate a work is worthless. I think I decided to use listing sites to jack myself off because no one else will :(. As well, I think I adapted to extreme favoritism after witnessing certain other pretentious lists on this site that rated stuff I liked low which made me quite mad. You can summarize all of this as attention whoring, if you wish. However, I will preach to you that you shouldn't put heavy interest into numbers of anonymous people since they don't affect what you want in art. I asked similar questions to someone and remembering that disgusts me. However, that experience taught me that life is all about living (lol) and learning. I do hope you asked these questions out of simple curiosity rather than out of ignorance that everyone in this world has different views and opinions.
>gurren lagann
Its passionate testimony on human willpower is admirable. But it gets old and becomes the boring kind of predictable when all they do is yell for 27 episodes and solve every battle that way. Many works have the same exact theme while entangled in way better narratives. I guess this got hyped up due to all the memes and ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER. Fun fact, I am listening to that right now. I don't find anything good about the characters except for that Viral guy. The only thing Kamina ever do was be an idiot who spouted motivational speeches. Motivation speeches don't solve problems in life by themselves. His death was also offensive because it payed homage to Ashita no Joe, and he is worse than nothing compared to how cool Joe is.
I used to conform to the opinion that it was good because it was stupid, but how does being good at being stupid make it good? I remember when I used to spam Inferno Cop with that excuse. ugh.
To be frank, I would probably use that excuse to show why I liked code geass and oreshura, so you can call me a hypocrite. In the end, I guess I didn't enjoy it enough to leave any lasting impact.
Oh and minor complaint, but the excessive fan service was obnoxious because the art sucks. Same with Code Geass, since I mentioned that.
>steins gate
The antics during the first half were really fun, if I can recall. The jokes and character interactions were pretty funny. I liked the atmosphere and the subtle hints of something happening in the backgrounds or something. Unfortunately, it never lived up to anything for me. Supposedly when the twist came along and the 2nd half started, everyone started calling it a masterpiece, but I thought those were the boring parts. I think i randomly stopped while it was airing and didn't continue until the dub came out. Btw, Dub > Sub in case you ever re-watch it.
I can't really remember why I disliked it, but it might have something to do with pummeling the same trauma over and over again despite the audience already getting the point. I liked Okabe but all the other characters are forgettable throwaway one dimensional tropes/ harem sluts which only served the purpose for dumb quirks. Not sure where the sluts phrase came from, but it might be me inherently putting baits everywhere. Anyway, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a trope or one dimensional, but these characters did absolutely nothing except be plot devices as apparent from the fact that he literally went on arcs trying to make amends with the girls. Their characterization was lacking. I can't remember what that other male even did in the story.
TL:DR: I felt the drama was poorly handled. I liked Okabe's fun quirks, but most of the second half, he became nothing special which annoys me since that is the only thing I liked about the show. Tbh, I think every fan that complains about the first doesn't know why they like the show. If you didn't care for the characters that are established in the first, how would the drama affect you in anyway? If it wasn't "slow", would the twist surprise them? Do people really hate slice of life that much?
I just realized my too long didn't read became too long to read. Whatever, I will add more. I am okay with the idea of fighting against time and fate, but I found the ending to be too forced and unnecessary. I have nothing against happy endings if their purposes are consistent with the narrative, but having a reset despite Okabe learning that it is almost impossible to control time is ridiculous and insulting. Then again, I might be emo since I like endings like End of Eva and Tex while disliking endings like Clannad. I am still not sure why I adore shit like Aria.
You can make that judgement on me, but I prefer bittersweet endings.
Great ost, though.
Another TL:DR: They didn't leave any good impact on me and I don't like them as much the stuff in the upper echelons.
It is unfair that I remember so much from these just because the anime community won't shut up about them, hmm.
You don't have
Normally, I would have just said they weren't good and would have posted a random song. For some reason, your post sparked so much mental stimulation that I needed to put it down somewhere.
In fact, I learned right now that I didn't actually like anything about gurren lagann, so I should lower the score. I am not sure if I should put it lower than kill la kill when I can't even finish that, but upon ruminating while writing this, Kill la kill is probably more creative than gurren lagann. Still though, shit art with excessive sexuality, ew. People complain's about monogatari fanservice, but at least the art isn't bad.
>One Piece
The story is the same, but the anime has horrendous pacing. One Piece already has bad pacing and Toei just makes it worse.
They have the budget, but the animation is extremely poor for the most part winch bothers me. Every time I tired to watch a recent ep, it just makes me sick. Weirdly, I can watch the movies fine, but the actual show is unbearable. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 is because the ost is amazing and I remember the time when I easily marathoned 400 eps.
I miss those days :_________________;.
