I wasn't too sure what to expect when I first started this, I didn't exactly have high hopes after having seen the rating but the synopsis had me curious enough that I was willing to ignore that and hope it was better.

What I found was rather hard to describe, the first episode was rather meh, but getting into the second episode I found myself really enjoying it, but despite enjoying it I couldn't help but feel a six rating still fit.

The anime is literally just fine. The characters are likeable but nothing to write home about, the stories in the episodes are nice ... but nothing really praiseworthy.

I think the best episode out of all of them was the one about the candy maker, you'll know it when ya see it. But other than that it was just okay.

It's rather annoying to be honest, most anime I really like or don't like enough that I end up dropping them. This anime just sort of hangs there in the middle. I don't regret watching it, but at the same time, in about a year from now I'll probably see this anime on my list and struggle to remember it. XD

there are three recurring villains in this series that pop up in almost every episodes, I shit you not, they're like a discount version of team rocket and they even blast off a few times. Of course, they don't have a catchphrase to shout when they do it, but dammit, that didn't stop me from shouting it for them.

that might seem like a negative critique, but I actually really liked them LOL XD
In fact, this anime might have been a little better had they focused on them a bit more. We get to learn about there backstory a bit and I gotta say, it would have been really cool to see that expanded on over the course of a whole episode. Since their backstory directly relates to the current political climate of the world in the show.

In a world where tech has drastically changed and youkai being given citizenship, these three represent the ones that were left in the dust by the new regime. Also, they mention something that's never actually explained. They talk about this war that ended up separating Shinto and Buddhism and as a result, their shrine was closed and since they seem to blame youkai for this.. It can also be assumed that this war also brought about the youkai being allowed to register for Japanese citizenship.

Why mention something so random and so complex sounding if you're not going to explain it? Thinking back on the last story arc they did, I have a feeling that they were hoping to get a season two, which might explain why they never went into more detail about it, but that just makes it more annoying!

anyways...

After I started seeing them as discount team rocket, all the youkai in this show started to feel like talking pokemon. And it makes sense since our discount team rocket keeps trying to kidnap the youkai and even succeed in one episode bringing them back to their lair and storing them in cages until our heroes show up to save them.

If that doesn't sound like something that would happen in a pokemon episode I don't know what does. But don't go thinking this is what the whole show is like, not by a long shot. I just thought it was funny.

Not sure what else to say.

If you want to be blown away by an anime, this isn't for you.
But if you just want to blow off some steam with a weird okay anime, then you're in the right place. Just go into it with low expectations and you'll have some fun.

The reviews I've seen for this anime have made me mad! Ahg! Full of fanservice? What? Maybe it's because I just got done re-watching some of Monster Musume, (Which is like all fan service). I don't get how people could say DanMachi has a lot of fan service!

There is a bit. But to say there is a lot is freaking crazy.

Then there are the people saying it's full of cliches. As if that's a bad thing! It doesn't matter if something has cliches. It's the way the story is executed. And DanMachi is wonderful in execution. Some of these scenes brought me to ... tears! And that isn't exactly a common occurrence for me. I could name the anime that have made me produce flowing tears on one hand!

Cliches are wonderful when they're done right. They can bring comfort due to their familiarity.

But it didn't even occur to me that it might have cliches until I saw people talking about it in reviews...

The video game setting has been becoming more common recently, is that what they're talking about? I love that sort of thing. And DanMachi is a special case, I love how it cuts out the reality portion and just gives us the game world. The main character isn't even a person from our world sent to their world. If anything that makes it not a cliche, or at least I would think so. But no.

This is one of those anime where the main character seems to have girls fall for him left and right. But come on, given everything that happens in this anime their reasons for liking him at least feel realistic. They range from hardcore love to small crushes and I understand each of them.

It doesn't feel forced like the girls in SAO did.

Now, on the surface, it does seem like he's oblivious to their affections. But I don't know, I'd give them a point here and admit it was a cliche. But there's just something about Bell's body language that makes me think he knows what going on, he's just not sure what to do with it so he's trying not to focus on it... If that makes sense.

It's not so much a spoiler without the contexts. Or at least I hope not. But there's a scene where two of his closest friends. Hestia and girl No2. (let's make it vague so it's even less spoiler.) start fighting over Bell. He runs off to get away from their bickering for a bit and just outside he pauses to listen. He knows, there's no way he doesn't know.

Not with that smile.

But enough of that. I don't watch these anime for that. I watch them for the fantasy worlds.

I love all the small details that make the world feel even more real. I love the factions and the goddesses, I love the dungeon. It reminds me of a Playstation one games I started playing last week. Azure Dreams! The dungeon in DanMachi is a lot like that one.

In case you haven't heard of it, it's a lot like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon with a fantasy theme. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games were inspired by RPGs like this. But I honestly wouldn't know. I might be into this stuff but the information around themis a total blank for me. lol

I just play and watch 'em. haha.

A lot of video game anime have at least some connection to the real world. Some game anime take a lot of time away from the game world to be in the real world. Like Recovery Of An MMO Junkie! Hardly any gameplay was shown aside from standing around talking and sitting in a tree.

(╬ Ò ‸ Ó) WOW, That's like SOOOO exciting. NOT!

Don't get me wrong, I actually liked that anime. But I don't like it as a video game anime. It's trash as a video game anime.

Sometimes we see some fighting, especially at the start, but it's sooo unsatisfying compared to the stuff we see in DanMachi.
(҂⌣̀_⌣́) But that's because the game isn't the main focus in that anime, it's the romance that they're interested in. They should be giving attention to both but they hardly try.

When I watch a video game anime I want to actually see the VIDEO GAME! DanMachi gets that, it gets it so much that we don't even have a real world to take away from the video game world. σ(≧ε≦ｏ)

Imagine, gamer friends, imagine if the world of a JRPG was a real place. That's what DanMachi explores, and it's great. That in and of itself might not be so rare, but an anime that takes place solely within a world of a game without a connection to the real world, without the main character being whisked away there, as far as I've seen is.

It's nice to have this kind of anime play out this way for once. I'd love to play a video game based on it. I'd love to see even more of this world. It isn't just some guilty pleasure anime. Not for me, it isn't.

For me, it's an inspiring story about a boy who lost everything and wants to become stronger. A boy no one saw any potential in until a goddess who understood how he felt gave him a chance to prove himself.

Every episode we see him fighting harder and harder to grow and to change and when we see him succeed it feels deserved. He isn't another OP anime character who out of no where has these god-like powers and one hits everything.

He's a guy who works for everything he has. He's a character that won't give up no matter what and it feels so good when he finally wins. Because we watched him work for it.

that's something a lot of anime forget. It takes effort to be the best. Sure, it can be fun to watch characters who are already the best take control of the situation and win. Like Shiroe from Log Horizon. He was an expert with the game before him and all the other players got trapped there. He's great, but wasn't anyone else curious about what it was like for him at the start as he was learning the ropes and improving? We don't get to see that side of him.

Because Bell is a new adventurer we get to watch him work his way up from the bottom.

I don't get the hate. And I don't get how the hate managed to get upvoted to the top of the reviews. it's ridiculous.

¯\_( ◉ 3 ◉ )_/¯ But at the end of the day, every anime is a sack of shit or a masterpiece to somebody. It just happens to feel nicer when more people agree with you.

Still, a seven score isn't half bad~! And a 7.83 at that! That's practically an eight.

This anime might have some bad reviews up at the top, but the score shows me it's far from being underrated. It would be too sad if that was the case.

Story: 3

This manga confused the hell out of me. I was never really sure what was going on. Most of it felt like it was a bunch of random scenes taped together and called a story.

If you ever meet a weeb who thinks all manga are amazing. Prove them wrong with this.

That being said though, I did like the concept. It could have been better, and much less confusing if it had been stretched out over several more chapters to give the creator time to weave a proper story with their idea.

But as is, the pacing is so fast that it leaves the ... reader in the dust and none of my questions were answered.

Art: 3

It was okay sometimes, but most of the time it looked pretty clunky.

Character: 1

There wasn't a single person in this manga that felt alive and I couldn't feel a connection if you paid me.

Enjoyment: 1

I spent the entire time reading it confused and wondering what was going on. Then it ends with my biggest question, left unanswered.

And you know what? I don't think there was actually meant to be a question over this thing I kept thinking about. The writing was just so vague it could have just been me being confused over nothing.

Overall: 1

Damn it, I really wanted to like this manga. The concept was cool. the art style wasn't the best, sure, but I was ready for it. It just flopped so hard..

Goodness, I've never written such a negative review before. Normally I'm all glowing with these. Hmmm. Another reason to hate this manga.

Story: 10

I loved the concept for this story. Hamtaro and his friends are getting really into a picture book that ends too suddenly for them, so they decide to act out the rest of the story.

Meanwhile, the author who is frantically trying to finish the story sees them through a portal and decides to enlist their help whether they like it or not.

Hamtaro and his friends are thrown into the world of the story and become the character within.

Very fast paced and very non-sensical. This is not the kind of story you should go into planning to take seriously. There are ... times in this movies that it feels like an acid trip. Things go by so fast, some of the most random things you can think of pop up and are gone before you know it.

This movie is anything but predictable.

It was a joy ride on the dorkiest roller coaster that ever lived.

Art: 10
The animators did a stellar job making every thing seem so big and grand. The characters are cute, their movements are fluid, the magic done in this world all look big and impressive.

I have to imagine the people making this movie had a fun time making this film and it shows through the animation.

Character: 7

As always Hamtaro is just the best thing ever. I loved every moment with him on screen. I gave a rather low score for character for the last movie I reviewed for this franchise.

The rest of the main cast just sort of followed Hamtaro around like a crew of robots with not much personality to them. It was much better in this film and more personalities were able to shine through... Though at the same time I can't help but feel it could have been a bit better for the rest of the cast. Especially when a major theme of this movie was friendship.

The new characters were fun. I wonder if they ever show up again because I'd love to see more of them.


Enjoyment: 10

There wasn't a single point in this movie where I felt bored or thought the movie was dragging. Partly thanks to the fast pacing. I had some laughs, I had some WTF moments.

It was an all around good time. Would most certainly watch again.

Story: 6 (Decent)

It was about them all going to this magical hamster world where there was a legend about a sunflower seed that could let you talk to humans that Hamtaro wanted so he could speak with Laura who forgot about him on her birthday.
It was cute, most of the movie seemed like filler since the main plot wasn't as complex as it could have been, but it was fun filler.

Art: 10 (I loved it!)

It was cute, the characters had a lot of energy, emotions were clear, there was this one scene though where Hamtaro falls onto this trampoline. But he sorta just ... teleported up and down for a second instead of actually bouncing!

Though, that's clearly a nit pick.

The settings, especially the magical land they travel to, are so atmospheric and almost a little creepy at times with as dark the colour scheme is. In a weird contrast for how happy all the hamster there are shown being. I liked it.

The villain looked almost like a cat at first. I was wrong, but because of how dark the setting seemed to be I instantly assumed this whole world was just a trap to lure in hamsters for him to eat.

I was thinking of Coraline I guess. I mean it makes sense. First Hamtaro is having trouble at home, then he's whisked away to a world built to make hamsters like him happy. Both worlds looked fun and happy with a sort of dark twist to their designs.

I feel the comparison works.

Sound: 8 (Very good)

There was a lot of singing through out the movie. There was even a hamster idol group which I thought was hilarious.

Welll, the songs weren't exactly play list worthy, but I still really liked them.

Character: 4 (decent)

I had a tough time figuring out what score. I think it's clear by now that I like the movie, but none of the characters really grew or changed.

Hamtaro just sorta has a falling out with his human, Laura, he's mad at her, then the movie just sorta ends with him going back to normal.

I doubt that counts as a spoiler. I mean, do you really expect a Hamtaro movie to not have a happy ending? Even if it does a good job faking you out you should still expect that happy ending to come anyways.

As for the other characters, they were all there through out the movie but they sorta fade into the background.

Actually, now that I think about it, they felt less like characters and more like a group of mindless robots following Hamtaro around. I think it was all that speaking in unison stuff they did. Hamtaro was the only one aside from the new characters that actually stood out.

As for the new characters. I loved them. The Hamster ninjas were cute, the villain was pretty funny, then there was the girl, I can't recall her name, I skipped around the movie for a few seconds trying to find it but... I don't think she ever introduces herself.

Odd... And the Hamtaro Wiki page for this movie didn't even have it. I might see it the next time I watch the movie.

She's was probably the coolest character, I'd say more but the things I really want to say feel like spoilers even if it isn't exactly plot related. Though look forward to the end of the movie. She's a candidate for most random line of dialogue ever. Like, what the heck? XD

The one thing I feel like I can say is, she's one of this worlds guardians and she sorta acts as the villains opposite. Look forward to seeing some pretty cool magic from her!

୧☉□☉୨ I want to say it but I won't say it, because of spoilers, but she's to thank for best scene in the movie. Like holy crap. I bet the animators had a blast on this thing.

Enjoyment: 10 (Outstanding)

I get distracted easily. If an anime can't hold my interest I think to myself, "I'll just pause it for a second and check something." Or, "Now I have a song stuck in my head, hold on, I gotta visit youtube for a second." Or, "Should I finish that quest in Skyrim? I'll watch the rest later."

Didn't happen one time during this movie. So it must have been pretty good, right?

Would most certainly watch again.

That thing about the rest of the main cast turning into background robots kinda bugs me or it would have been ten here too. I mean this world was so creative and there was so much they packed into it, maybe they just didn't have the time to give everyone a chance in the spotlight.

So.. I guess it's more of a nit pick if anything, especially considering how many characters there are.

I hope this anime has an official subbed version. I want to buy the DVD so I can watch it again in better quality.

Binchou-tan is the story of a little girl who lives in the mountains alone and travels down to the nearby town for work. I honestly wasn't expecting too much from this anime when I first came across it, but now that I've finished the last episodes I'm surprised to say that I may have found and anime worthy of knocking a title from my top ten list.

But who gets the boot!? I'll have to think about that later, for now, on with the review! ♡

Story 10/10

The stories follow a simple slice of life narrative with the main character working through life on her own, ... obtaining money for food by getting jobs from a job board in town, when she's not doing that she's playing with her friends.

Watching the interactions between her and the other girls was very enjoyable and learning about the others was interesting.

Though the story does take a bit of a sad turn once we start learning about Binchou's past. If I had any complaints it would be that I wish we'd learned about her past bit more before the anime ended. (๑◕︵◕๑)

Art 10/10

Wonderfully detailed backgrounds contrasting with their simplistic characters designs.

The scenery in this anime is the big ticket for why I gave it a ten out of ten. For as cute as the girls can be, if the backgrounds matched them I'm afraid the score would be much lower. That being said though, the characters still fit in with their environments.

The animators clearly knew how good their scenery was with all the establishing shots in the first couple of episodes. With backgrounds this good you have to show it off! They were breathtaking.

It was like looking at a living painting. (ﾉ´ヮ´)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Sound 10/10

The background music did wonders for establishing tone. I don't tend to actually notice background music that often but caught my ear quite well.

As for the opening and ending song... They weren't the best, but they were still nice.

Enjoyment 9000/10

I watched one episode after the other. I couldn't stop. Now I'm sad it's over.
That's how it is with most good anime, beautiful like a snowflake yet gone so soon!

I had no clue what this thing was when I found it with the aid of the magic random button. So I looked at MAL to learn more and found out this site had no information to give me, just like the site that had given me the title.

But seeing as it was just three minutes l decided to check it out to see what it was like.

Story: 1. There was no story from what I could tell. It's very much a "What just happened?" kind of animation.

Art: 5. The designs on the humans and animal weren't exactly groundbreaking, neither was the ... scenery. In fact, there were bits where this reminded me of something Adult Swim would have made. You know their shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and that one about the Squids?

But some of the backgrounds were kinda pretty to me, so I tossed a five at it for effort.

Character: 1. Man and baby with cat. We know nothing about them. They're probably on drugs. But probably not.

Enjoyment: 4. It wasn't exactly a pleasure to the eyes. But I can't say I regret checking it out.

Overall score: 4. It's only three minutes if you're curious enough go ahead and check it out.

Story:
This anime though I have heard that it strayed from the manga quite a bit in favor of comedy, I don't actually care. Why? Because when it comes to books and movie adaptations. The film should always be judged by it's own merit.

So while this was not the drama many were expecting, I say that it did the comedy with dramatic undertones quite well.

The story itself takes place within a world where youkai have interbred with humans at one point or another and the family lines created by these human/youkai hybrid live together with one another for protection.

The Story follows Ririchiyo who ... due to some pain in her past has social issues that cause her to snap at people without meaning to causing her to have a somewhat callous appearance, she desperately wishes to overcome these issues.

I don't know about a lot of you peoples here on the forum, but I can really relate with that myself. Sometimes it's just easier to hide behind a hard exterior when you don't want to look stupid, or feel too shy to say the things you really want to say. Ririchiyo's characterization really shows these traits and her story of overcoming them is quite touching.

Also, that other stuff that happens.

If I had to say something bad about it, there were a few spots where it seems to drag a bit, but I can't bring myself to dislike those bits.

I don't really have much to say about the art.
It was well done, the characters were pleasing to the eye and their designs matched up with their personalities quite well.

I really like the different Yokai forms they had.

Character:
I loved the characters, every single one of them was memorable and likeable in their own ways. Even the over perfect bishie ended getting a pretty interesting back story to save him by the end of the anime.

I think my favourite characters out of the cast was a tie between Karuta and Nobara.

I really enjoyed the anime, though upon doing some reading on the manga while writing the review, I gotta say I wish it was- Whoops, almost let it ruin my review.

10/10 for how much I enjoyed it.
I'll be reading the manga properly.

As for overall, 8/10.
there were some bits that could have been sanded down to a fine finish. For example, I would have liked some more back story for Soshi, I feel like he could have really used it. Not to mention more spot light on their relationship. I feel like it just ended the moment they started being an item, I would have loved to see the relationship dynamic after they were together.

Hello, peoples of the anime forum, I am Hedo and this is my very first review on the site.

Story:

If you're a fan of the long drawn out stories with back stories, adventure and romance. Then this probably isn't the anime for you. If you're like me, a simple otaku with simple tastes for nice slice of life anime where the plots are simple and easy to follow, then you have certainly come the the right place.

each episode is maybe a four to five-minute short about the office life of Moon and his friends. Office humour for everyone! I was pretty taken with it I ... must say, since this is the kind of thing I tend to go for.

Though I did feel a somewhat longing for more. I feel I would have been happier with a proper twenty-something minute long episodes. But that's not how it rolled and because of that I'm only going to give story an 8. That sounds fair. I think. Hope..

Art:
This is where some people might be put off of this anime. The art is rather simplistic. But I don't know, it seems like recently a lot of the slice of life anime I watch seem to be using the same art style, almost like they could all take place in the same world.

I've kinda been feeling like I've fallen into a rut and it's gotten to the point where I'm starting to check out anime simply because they got an interesting looking art style, and that may or may not be the reason behind checking out this anime.

I did love the art style, it felt like a breath of fresh air for me.

though that being said, it might be a deal breaker for many.

Sound:

That opening. Song. Was. Amazing. Not even kidding here. I could listen to it over and over. I've already downloaded it for my cell phone.

As for the sound of the overall show, I had no complaints with the voice acting, Though I guess when I first heard Connie's voice, the first thing I thought was, "Well her voice sounds kind of generic."

You know that female voice you hear sometimes at the end or start of an anime that's like introducing the sponsors or what not? Or the voices in some Japanese TV ads? It kinda reminded me of that voice. But that had only been my first impression of the voice. It was fine.

I'm going to give sound a 9. I really did love that OP.

You know, even if you don't check out the anime you should most certainly go for that OP. Like seriously.

Character:
I wouldn't say any of these characters were properly developed. Though at the same time we do get to know them and they are interesting characters.

But that being said, none of these characters seem to grow or change through the series all that much. They pretty much are who they are.

I think it's clear at this point that I seriously loved this anime, I was watching the episodes up one after another I liked it so much.
So I'm giving enjoyment a 10.

Overall;
Sure is had its flaws, but it really wasn't going out there to be this big epic anime. It was clearly meant to be a fun little thing to watch while you kill some time. And it managed that very well.

I'll give it a 9.
