Before you begin watching this anime, think to yourself. Are you ready to be depressed? Because that's exactly how this anime makes you feel. This however isn't a bad thing as it is also a wonderful story. If you are in the mood for a happy-go-lucky anime. I wouldn't watch this one for the time being, however it is a must see.
Story: 10
Jyu-Oh-Sei is set in a futuristic time and there are humans living on other planets outside of Earth. There is plenty of symbolism in this anime like power, greed and control. Although futuristic, this anime combines both futuristic and historic elements. The story

follows twins Thor and Rai as their parents are murdered and they are sent to a mysterious planet full of carnivorous plant life. The story is depressing and revolves around death and survival but is also very beautiful. My one problem with the story was a love triangle that although helped contribute to the story, I feel could have been replaced by something else. The story is fast paced so it requires full attention.
Art: 8
The art in Jyu-Oh-Sei was good. It was quite crisp and was very appropriate to the story. It was quite gloomy but also very pretty. I didn't feel that the art blew me away, but I never felt like the art never fit a scene. Most of the characters looked good, especially Thor and "Third". Overall the art was very good.
Sound: 8
I really enjoyed both the opening and ending songs and the music fits well into place throughout the show. You don't notice it too often because it fits the mood well. Although its good, it isn't outstanding.
Character: 10
The Characters in Jyu-Oh-Sei are outstanding. You get to know a lot about each character as the show doesn't focus too much on action but rather character depth. In it's short time Jyu-Oh-Sei does well to give you insight into all the characters. Thor easily became my favourite character as he is just so cool. He is wise, completely determined and an amazing fighter. He is a natural born warrior both physically and mentally.
Enjoyment: 10
I watched the whole show in one night. Not because I wanted to get through it quickly, but because it was so enjoyable. I couldn't just not finish it. Every time I finished an episode, I had to watch the next one. I enjoyed it so much that I almost fell into the story myself. It was fast paced and quite complex with many twists and turns. The show was like a ride. Although many people may not like the ending, I thought it was good.
Overall: 10
Overall Jyu-Oh-Sei had to be one of the best shows I've seen lately. Wonderful story and really emotional. Definitely one to see.
