Hoshiai no Sora is by and large a drama anime that has the sport of soft tennis mixed in to act as a catalyst for bringing together the main characters and showing growth. For those who are looking for a shonen sports anime with your typical summer camps and special moves and growing the team and lots of matches against strong teams and rising to the top, this isn't really a show for you.
The story itself is something that captivated me from the get-go. It was something different, and something very captivating as slice of life animes are typically very appealing to me. The
...
characters are all very unique and have their own dramas going on with their lives, each of them having very upbringings and lots of problems going on in their respective houses, hence drama. The way the characters have grown from the beginning of the show through the main character, Maki, has been very enjoyable to watch. The way it explored psychological aspects of school students and the understanding it takes to see why the kids act the way they do blew me away. Unfortunately due to issues with the production studio, this anime currently remains half finished, as what was initially supposed to be a 24 episode anime got cut in half, and the director decided instead of rushing to finish, they would play out their story and finish whatever they could by their story.
The music and artwork in the anime is very good in my opinion. I loved their choices for opening and ending songs, and the art really captured what was happening in each scene, with each scene exhibiting very normal stuff and drawn so well that you could easily absorb yourself in their world.
Overall, enjoyment of this anime was very high. As I said at the beginning, this is a drama anime with sports mixed in, not the other way around. Many people might be left disappointed by the fact sports is its hook, but not me. I thoroughly enjoyed this anime and would recommend it easily for someone looking for a school drama anime. The way it is able to capture the drama in the families of kids in school is quite incredible and still progress forward, juxtaposing fun moments with sad and tense moments, is quite incredible. A very well written story that I pray will get a season 2 to finish off.

Imagine a world where there is no death, a world where no one is no longer born, a would where you cannot die and must continue to roam around until a specialised agent of God (A Gravekeeper) can put you to sleep (death)... That is The Sunday Without God summed up. This was quite a surprising anime to find as I didn't have that high expectation for it, but boy did it surprise.
Story: 10
I really, really enjoyed this story, particularly for its uniqueness. The whole idea of this, as well as the issues raised about death and family and community that are raised throughout the
...
anime, it is just simply amazing for them to come up with an idea like this. The story follows the main character who is a young girl named Ai Astin and her travels around the region. The story is really split into 2 parts, with the first part focusing on the city of Ortus, one where you must be dead to live in, and the second part following Alis Colour and the attempts to free a society trapped in time, both of which are very enjoyable to watch and learn more about.
Art + Sound: 9
The artwork for this anime was splendidly done. The soundtrack was very good as well, appropriately setting the mood for scenes and creating the right sort of emotions within the audience.
Characters: 8
Ai Astin is the main character. She is a bright, young, exuberant girl who wishes to travel around and save the world. She is a very likeable character as well, however has nothing major that makes her stand out and be truly memorable. She mainly travels around with a gravekeeper named Scar whose personality is quite bland, and Julie Sakuma Dmitriyevich who takes on the role of a father figure. The only other mentionable character would be Alis Colour who comes in during the second half. He is actually quite a mysterious character who has an emotional past and on the whole is someone who you can relate to; strong, determined and quite reserved to those around him.
Enjoyment Overall: 9
This anime was really something to see, and caught me by surprise to see something so splendid come out. It continually leads you down and path and makes you want more out of it as you progress, wanting to find out more about the world and how it functions and what could possible happen. On the whole I liked it and recommend it for those who are after something unique.

This anime is just a simple solid 8. There is a lot to like about Gatchaman, including its unique storyline which is what initially drew me towards this anime. At first I was skeptical about how great this anime would be, particularly with this idea of "updating the world", however I have to say at the end that it did a solid job.
Story: 8
The story follows the main protagonist Hajime Ichinose as she is chosen to become a part of this super secret protective force known as the Gatchaman. At the same time you have Rui Ninomiya who has created an application that links everyone
...
together with the aid of artifical intelligence, and those who have the app on their smart phone can all interact with each other and in the case of trouble, assistance may be asked of you due to your skills. The main Protagonist is an alien by the name of Berg Katse and his role is basically to wreak havoc upon earth. Overall, a very cool setup and the action the ensues is actually quite good.
Art + Sound: 8
The artworks in this anime are very well done, particular the designs of the gatchaman themselves. Their bird suits are mechanical and very well animated with lots of colour, and the special effects used during battle are well done. The music in this anime is pretty good too, particularly in the opening song whose nonsensical lyrics aids that of the story as it works along the lines of communication and how we perceive words and communicate with each other. The theme word for the anime as well is "Gatcha!" and the transformation lyrics of "Gatchaman" are quite prominant in this anime as well.
Characters: 8
Where to begin with this one. The main character Hajime Ichinose has to be one of the most obnoxious girls every portrayed as a main character, or so I thought at first. Upon persevering through this, I learnt to like her more as you start to understand who she is and how she works. She is able to express herself freely and does not restrict herself in her life and society values. Her honesty is probably the best thing she's got going for her, however her eccentric take to life is quite good as well. The other mentionable character would be Berg Katse. His antagonist role is quite well done, inciting fear into all around him through the use of being able to mirror the image of someone. On the whole, a very solid character cast from everyone in the show.
Overall Enjoyment: 8
Again this would be an 8, as mentioned before. This show was quite fantastic to watch due to its themes of heroes and updating the world and how society should work together. It was an enjoyable watch and recommend it for those who are thinking about watching it.

Just before I start this review I will say that I have not read the manga, and hence this perspective is coming only from what I have seen in the anime.
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S (A Certain Scientific Railgun S) is the 2nd season for the franchise. I found this anime to be very enjoyable, even with the annoying little fanservice bits that were thrown in, however let's get into it.
Story: 10
I believe this story to be simply fantastic. There were 2 main parts to this anime. The first part is the Sisters Arc which divulges into issues such as cloning, the consequences of attaining
...
power, the struggle for power and control and just the overall determination shown from the main character in order to overcome despair. The second arc focuses on genetically created twins and again you are faced with issues of cloning and manipulation in order take control of power. Power is the one underlying aspect in this anime through the use of the esper powers that are present within Academy City, and honestly, it has just been fantastic to see something so great.
Art + Sound: 9
The soundtrack for this anime was very good and very appropriately chosen. I particularly enjoyed the first opening and the second ending of the anime with the first opening providing an unmistakable feel of adrenaline whilst the second ending just feels full of emotion. The artwork is also very well done on the characters as are the action scenes that follow, very well animated.
Characters: 8
The story follows once again the main protagonist Misaka Mikoto. She is a level 5 esper and one of the strongest in the City with her manipulation of electricity. I really like her character because of her strong personality and her sense of justice and obligation that follows, feeling that she has to atone for her mistakes. What brings the character section down however are the characters of Shirai Kuroko and Saten Ruiko, both used as comic relief characters. Although they aren't bad themselves, and mind you they have great moments within the anime, the fact that they overdo the fan service in the anime does detract from it slightly, but not nearly enough to really impact on the anime on the whole. Kuroko isn't really fan service per se, however the fact she is so clingy to Misaka and her antics border on yuri, it's easy to see why I dislike this aspect when it clearly doesn't need it.
Overall Enjoyment: 9
This anime was a truly fantastic sequel to the first season, following on closely from the first season. The character interactions are all fantastic which created great bonding moments with them and the audience, and at the end of it all, the underlying message is to rely on others, which I think is an apt message to everyone. There is no need to try and do everything yourself, give others the chance to help and see how much of a difference it makes.

Danganronpa: Academy of Hope and Students of Despair. Just from the title of this anime you are intrigued as to what it could be about and as to where it leads to. This anime is basically a mystery genre and I believe it to be very well done. My only complaint that would keep it from being a 10 is the rushed feeling you get. But let's get into this review!
Story: 9
This story has quite a unique setup for animes that I haven't really seen before. Essentially 14 of the best students in their particular areas (Super Duper High School Students) are gathered together along
...
with one lucky person to attend this academy that guarantees success in life upon graduation. Everything sounds great until upon entering the school, everyone is knocked out and reawaken to a summoning by the principal who is a talking bear named Monokuma. He informs the students that they are trapped within the school and the only way to escape is to kill another student and not be voted guilty during a trial period in which the whole class participates to try and decide who the murderer was. As the story progresses, it focuses on the murders and mysteries within the school rather than the character interactions as a whole, and the classroom trials that take place, all determining who was the murderer. Quite a unique setup. The murders that take place a well thought out and it is quite difficult to figure out who the culprit is until soon before they announce them,
Characters: 8
Our main protagonist is Makoto Naegi who is the lucky student selected to attend this wonderful academy. His personality on the whole is quite bland, however he does get along well with the rest of the characters and does his job well. Most of the story is told from his perspective and on the whole he is a likeable character. Another notable character includes Kyouko Kirigiri who is extremely cool under pressure and helps Naegi the most in figuring out mysteries. There is a bond of trust between the two developed as their time together increases and they learn to rely on each other, even with the situation they are presented with. On the whole they are memorable characters each with their own specialty area that makes them unique.
Sound + Art: 8
I really enjoyed listening to the Opening and Ending songs for Danganronpa, and the music chosen throughout the anime itself is suspenseful and creates the right atmosphere. The art is quite good as well, particularly with the executions that are done in a cinematic style.
Overall Enjoyment: 9
I really enjoyed watching this anime and finally being able to finish it off. It had me on the edge of my seat, excited for what would come next and how things were going to be solved. If you are into the genre of mystery then I highly recommend watching this anime.

Okay this is a review for those of you have not read the manga and are walking in blindly, such as myself.
Kimi no Iru Machi (A Town Where You Live) is your basic romantic anime about your main character, Kirishima Haruto, and his love interest Eba Yuzuki. They have been childhood friends for a short period of time and they really bonded when Eba came back during the later years of her high school lift to attend school and various events befall them and get in the way of the love they have for each other, the most major being the distance between where the
...
two live. Eba initially travels out to the countryside where Haruto lives but then has to go back to Tokyo, and this anime takes over from the OVA series where Haruto travels out to Tokyo to chase after Eba.
Story: 7
I was really disappointed with how quickly they moved this anime along. They were constantly jumping around between past and present and never spent more than about 2 episodes on any particular event or moment. The rate at which the relationships moved along as well was frustrating as you never really got a great grasp of what was going on and how the characters really felt. What was good about it however was the ability for the viewer to be able to relate to the situation at hand. It was a fairly good setup, just rushed.
Characters: 5
The way they rushed through the anime was really bad, and consequently that's how the characters have turned out. I mostly disliked all of the characters, but the one bright spark was the fact that you could relate to them in a way, regardless of the decisions they made. Kirishima Haruto is your fairly common main character, not much personality and just can't seem to let go of the main female interest. Eba Yuzuki is your typical bright, clumsy damsel in distress who needs someone around to help her all the time and to support her. Although I believe she was supposed to be a likeable character, I did not like her. To me she was just to needy and just made me frustrated with her decisions and the way she conducted herself, but I digress. Eba also has a younger sister Rin who comes into the story about halfway through. She has quite the personality as she is constatly pushing Eba and Haruto together, but I won't spoil too much about her and what goes on.
Art and Music: 7
The music for the anime was quite well chosen I believe, although nothing outstanding that would make you want to keep listening to it outside of the anime itself. The artworks are fairly good as well, but would've benefited from a little more time to get that smoother texture and brighter colours in general.
Overall Enjoyment: 7
I did enjoy this anime even with all of its flaws. I do recommend giving it a watch, but at the same time be warned that it will feel really rushed and you will not have a lot of time to be able to appreciate the situations and get to know the characters really well.
Recommendation:
From what other people tell me, they say the Manga is a lot better and ads in elements of comedy, as well as goes more in depth and is a lot more enjoyable overall
