YAHALLO! I'm BodhiSearchTree! But my friends call me Bodhi. :3
Like many in my generation, my first intro to anime was probably Pokemon, followed by Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh! My first subbed anime, though, was "Spirited Away" around 2002. But what really got me into modern anime was finding "Your Lie in April" ("Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso") in 2017.
I immediately fell in love with the beautiful story, animation, and music of YLIA. I especially love the OST song "Watashi no Uso", which made me cry deeply for the first time in a long time, and remains my favorite song ever. But YLIA resonated the most with me because of how similar the main character's (Arima Kousei) story reflected my own life and past.
Since then, anime has slowly woven itself into the tapestry of my life. I mostly enjoy slice-of-life and romance anime, but I hope to get into other genres as well. I love a good tear-jerker, so bonus points if an anime gets me crying by the end. :')
5 Centimeters per Second -- This is my absolute favorite anime OST. I love how every track is some variant or combination of "One More Time, One More Chance" and "END THEME", but they're all uniquely and heartbreakingly beautiful. I love every single track, but here are some highlights:
One More Time, One More Chance
Cherry Blossom Extract (Oukashou)
The Feeling That Doesn't Reach (Todoke Kanai Kimochi)
END THEME [ED]
Tsuki ga Kirei -- Every insert song is just so heartfelt, melodic, and soothing - I love them all. I later found out why: They're all sung by Nao Touyama - the voice of Oregairu's best girl Yui Yuigahama! I love when past me has the same tastes as future me. :3
Ninth of March (Sangatsu Kokonoka)
First Love (Hatsukoi)
Into the Future (Mirai e)
As the Moon, so Beautiful (Tsuki ga Kirei) [ED]
Teasing Master Takagi-san -- While the OST itself is rather mediocre, this series sports 15 amazing EDs across 2 seasons. Rie Takahashi sings all 15 songs in her trademark Takagi-san voice and it's just heavenly how her voice flows in each song.
S1:ED1 - Kimagure Romantic
S1:ED7 - Deatta Koro no You ni
S2:ED1 - Kanade
S2:ED3 - Kiseki
S2:ED4 - Arigatou
S2:ED8 - Yasashii Kimochi
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (Oregairu) -- This show has exceptional EDs brought to life by the voices of Yui and Yukino. Especially beautiful are the "Yui Ballade" (and "Yukino Ballade") versions of each ED, which melt my heart every time I hear them. I also love the beautiful OST piano tracks based on the OPs and EDs (mapping below). All these songs are excellent examples of how a single song can yield multiple renditions, each with a unique emotional quality.
OP1 - Yukitoki --> Time with 3 People (Sannin de Iru Jikan)
OP2 - Harumodoki --> Replica
OP3 - Megumi no Ame
ED1 - Hello Alone --> Yui's Determination (Yui no Ketsui)
ED2 - Everyday World --> Connected World (Tsunagitometa Sekai)
ED3 - Diamond no Jundo
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! -- This OST is the most well-rounded soundtrack I've encountered so far. It contains dozens of amazing, original, melodic songs for all moods: From playful and happy, to reflective and bittersweet, to heartfelt and somber. Some highlights:
S1:D1:T02 - Welcome to the Chu-2 Byo World!
S1:D1:T30 - Soshite Ashita mo Chuunibyou wa Tsuzuku no de Atta
S1:D2:T05 - Surechigau Kokoro to Kokoro
S1:D2:T06 - Atatakasa ni Tsutsumarete Hi wa Kureru
S1:D2:T17 - Rikai to Aijou to Yasashii Manazashi
S2:D1:T13 - Hazero Real! Hajikero Synapse!
S2:D2:T10 - Koigokoro ga Ugoku Toki
S2:D2:T19 - Watashi wa Watashi de Iyou to Omou
Non Non Biyori -- Another very well-rounded OST with some of the most relaxing and heartfelt instrumental melodies I've ever heard. Totally beats classical music out of the water! Some highlights:
S2:D1:T30 - Gentle Wind [School Anthem - Piano solo ver.]
Your Lie in April -- This OST was my first intro to the beauty of sad anime music and remains one of my favorites. "Watashi no Uso" especially holds a special place in my heart - I probably broke the replay button on this song back when I found it, hehe.
My Lie (Watashi no Uso)
I Have You (Kimi ga Iru)
Please Support Me Who is about to Lose Heart (Kujikesou ni Naru Watashi wo Sasaete Kudasai)
That's How People Like Us Live (Watashi tachi wa Sou Yatte Ikite Iku Jinshu na no)
Orange [ED2]
