I haven't talked to either for years now, I think. At least Kana is still alive and kicking from what I know though. It just happens. I could live without anime, too, if you told me I'd have to stop watching tomorrow.

The Eva stuff is quite something. I'm a fan, I've seen everything there is to see and I even have an Asuka figure, haha, shit. I like the Railgun series quite a bit. It has more interesting characters than the Index series which sparked the Railgun spin-offs as far as I know.

Haruhi is just something else. The first anime series was great, just like the stuff that came after it: the movie and the second series. I can understand falling it love with her, ha.

Heya, sorry for the late reply. The new Eva movies are awesome. They partly interpret the series differently, so the entire Eva package - old series, old movies, new movies - is still amazing. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get the old series from. They're probably not expensive anymore but you could comb through piratebay.

Regarding anime recommendations, there's a new Railgun series. You could check that one out if you watched the previous once and the Index anime. The Bakemonogatari stuff keeps being awesome: Nisemonogatari and Monogatari Series: Second Season. Pure action with a new touch (but not that much romance) is Shingeki no Kyoujin (Attack on Titan). Psycho Pass maybe if you like some future sci-fi cop stuff à la Deus Ex and Ghost In The Shell. That's pretty much all I can think of atm.

Dood.

You're probably thinking of romaji (using English letters) - katakana and hiragana are both phonetic alphabets used to write in Japanese, and kanji are characters representing words. I suppose you could write whatever you like in just hiragana, but to actually read Japanese you need to know both alphabets and quite a few kanji (I think the average college student in Japan knows something like 3000). Not that I expect to get that far very quickly, but I would like to be able to read/write a bit and understand Japanese grammar.

Glad to see you're enjoying Fairy Tail. Maybe there's hope for getting you into One Piece yet. I think they're pretty similar with respect to major themes, characters' personalities, art styles, etc. As for FMA, I can't remember exactly where the story diverges between the first anime and the manga, but it isn't that far in because nearly half of the homunculi are different completely different characters between one and the other.

Yeah, same here. I'm still pretty foggy about grammar and syntax, but I can usually get a general idea of what's going on. Also, quite a few of my favorite characters wouldn't be near as interesting if it weren't for the great voice acting. I'm not sure that I would have even liked Spice and Wolf otherwise, and I always enjoy hearing characters played by Wakamoto Norio (he does Anderson in Hellsing and the emperor in Code Geass, among others). Anyway, I just started learning to write on my own... definitely more difficult than picking up the spoken language hehe.

It's been a while - watched any of those shows we were talking about yet? I hate waiting for something to download too, so I make a point to get ahead. That said, I tend to get a little too far ahead - it'd probably take me a year or two to make it through the shows I have now even if I didn't download anything new. Anyway, I hope you enjoy FMA: Brotherhood. The earlier series was one of the few anime I've seen where they greatly diverged from the manga storyline and it didn't end up sucking (Trigun is the other that comes to mind) but I'm still really glad they went back and adapted it following the manga. It definitely turned out great.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Glad your close family members are doing fine. I'm going through phases: it's either a lot of gaming and close to no anime or the other way around. If you have accounts on Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc., shoot them my way and I'll be happy to add you to my friends list if you don't mind.

I'm actually hoping to learn Japanese. I know a smattering of words and phrases just from watching so much anime, but I really enjoy the language. A lot of the jokes and subtle meanings get lost in translation, so I'm hoping one day I'll just be able to watch in Japanese and not have to worry about subs and such.

I got stuck on watching One Piece like that and couldn't stop watching... I think it took me over a week of doing nothing else to catch up though, and that was over a hundred episodes ago hehe. Anyway, the pirate thing is the basic setting of the entire show, so it never gets away from that. There's a lot of variety as far as plot and characters and such, but the focus on ships and pirate crews and the sea is pretty much universal. I hope you do give it a shot though.

The main reason I use that Torrentz site is that it actually searches other torrent sites (including TPB) to give you a wider selection of torrents. It's still hard to track down some older and less-popular shows, especially if they were licensed in the US, but it helps. As for porn, I think the entire internet specializes in that hehe.

Ao no Exorcist is pretty good stuff - you'd probably like it. Soul Eater as well, if you haven't seen it already. I was pretty disappointed with both of those though, because I was reading the manga when they started making the anime. They did a good job on both fronts, but eventually decided to veer off the original plot in order to end the show early and the anime-original stuff isn't nearly as good. Kinda like the filler in Bleach and such.

Hey mate, how are you and your family? Thanks for dropping by. Yeah, I'm still around, still watching anime from time to time. I did more gaming than anime lately though. Some of us are still around indeed.
IceQueen Jan 18, 2013 10:11 AM
Mike~~~! :3 Indeed, long time no talk, especially here! :P Hmm... First thing that comes to mind is Ao no Exorcist :) It's brilliant, I'm sure you'll like it :D

And yay, you're watching D.Gray-man! What do you think of it?
Krelian Jan 18, 2013 4:48 AM
Almost forgot! Fairy Tail is definitely worth watching as well. It isn't quite as bad with filler as Naruto and Bleach (at least not yet), and has a fair bit in common with One Piece in terms of major themes and certain characters' personalities.
Krelian Jan 18, 2013 4:31 AM
I know exactly what you mean... I've lived in the mountains in NC most of my life. I moved a few hours away to a bigger city for a while, and when I moved back I was really surprised by how much I'd missed the mountain air, the scenery, weather, etc. All the little things you tend to take for granted when you live somewhere long. I still think I'd like living near the sea if I was far enough north to get away from the scorching heat and the crowds of tourists, but I can't think of many other places I'd really want to live. Washington does sound pretty awesome though - I'm hoping to make a trip around the country one of these days and it's definitely high on the list of places to see.

I'm not sure what it is, but I can't stand to watch dubbed anime. I liked Crispin Freeman in Xenosaga, definitely, but even with talented voice actors like him the dubs just seem off somehow. I guess I'm prejudiced hehe. The only one I prefer in english is Robotech (vx. the japanese Macross) - I watched it dubbed when I was a kid, and the music is much cooler as well.

The Bountou arc is where Bleach goes to shit hehe. It's long and dull and I hate how they roll Ichigo's power back since they can't have him getting any stronger than he was when they started the arc. It gets worse later though - one filler arc gets stuffed into the middle of a major battle, with no explanation as to why everything is suddenly back to normal. Definitely better just to skip it.

I had the same issues with One Piece, actually. I thought it was pretty stupid at first, and it took some convincing to get me to give it a chance. It gets better after a few episodes, but you don't really get a feel for what the rest of the show is going to be like until the Arlong arc (like 30 episodes in). The adventuring and comedy are fun, but the best parts of the show are when Luffy gets seriously pissed off. It's my absolute favorite show, so I could ramble on for ages. Anyway, if you're up for it, they released a movie recapping the arc - it might give you a better idea of whether you'll like the rest of the show.

I download pretty much all of my anime via torrents. I usually use http://www.tokyotosho.info/" target="_blank">http://http://www.tokyotosho.info/ but it tends to work better for recently-aired anime - if you're looking for something a little older the torrents may be dead. In that case I'll either check http://torrentz.eu/" target="_blank">http://http://torrentz.eu/ and/or look on MAL to find out which groups released a fansub and check for downloads on their website.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
