I'll have to think about a good drama recommendation for you. I've seen close to 100 dramas and almost twice as much anime (but I rarely watch romantic anime. I prefer sci fi, action, and slice-of-life). XD
That is SO true about Takeshi Kaneshiro in Fallen Angels. The scene where he is watching the video of his father, with tears falling down his face, is deeply engraved in my memory. He was just lovely in that film! Everyone else truly paled in comparison to him and his performance.
Happy Together isn't that bad. It's kind of funny and a bit sad. I don't remember a lot of outwardly homosexual moments. You should definitely check it out. It's different!
I haven't watched As Tears Go By either, even though I own it. XD
Is it that weird that I like all these things? I'm just into Asia! I need to try harder at my writing, though. I've gotten soooo side-tracked by dramas and movies lately.
I would say so, yes. He's made some truly amazing films, although I haven't yet watched all of them. I went so far as to buy the [expensive] box set of As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild, Happy Together, Fallen Angels, and Chungking Express. I also have In the Mood For Love. 2046 is next to buy because it's a favorite. I've also seen his first American film, My Blueberry Nights, but it wasn't as good as his older films. The soundtrack took over, the acting was sub-par, and everything that reminded you of a Wong Kar-Wai film was overdone.
My fave is Fallen Angels. What's yours (assuming you're also a fan)?
What draws me the most to his films are the tales of unrequited love and the all-star casts of some of Hong Kong's greatest actors. I was hooked from the start!
yup yup, TS is gets kinda slow at times, but it stays true to the kind of drama that P3 was known for. i'm only on ep. 11 and still waiting for a certain "cameo" by someone!!! ^_^
no biggie, although i have been to the bay, i'm really from the south bay i.e. Long Beach, Carson, Torrance, etc. hehe... so u excited for P4 and have u seen trinity soul yet???
