Okay, I'm going to give my first review a go:
Story:
The storyline is somewhat simple and predictable but can be funny and cute at times. First there's this typical school setting like in many shoujo series, then you throw in a bit of magic. The main protagonist is an ordinary girl who befriends a girl who happens to be a witch. And with her magic, they deal with everyday problems. The story is progressed pretty smoothly and nothing seems rushed or confusing. Mini conflicts come and go and more characters get involved as the story progresses. Some might find the story corny, while others might think it's cute or sweet.
Art:
The art is overall decent. It's neat, cute and shoujo-like. However it's a bit lacking in terms of the uniqueness of the characters. Like other manga art I've seen, the main way to distinguish most of the characters apart is by their hair and height because everything else look too similar. Nonetheless, the characters and settings look pleasing and I don't really have anything against it.
Character:
I can't say the characters are anything unique or special. You have this popular girl, Ayu, who likes the popular guy, Kaji. Ayu's friend Nina is the ditzy witch who probably either amuses the reader or annoys them. Then there's the popular guy's best friend, Hiroki, who seems to lack much use throughout the story. Despite all that, you do see a sense of development among the characters. Later on more characters get introduced, some rivalry forms and also new relationships. They grow and improve as they face their problems and help one another.
Enjoyment:
Reading Ultra Maniac was satisfying but not fully enjoyable on my part. It has its amusing and heartwarming moments, but there were times where the story got rather mediocre and bland. It was overall not bad, it certainly wasn't regrettable.
Overall:
It may have lacked here and there but I still found some enjoyment reading it and I would say the good outweighs the bad. If you're looking for a lighthearted schoolgirl romance then you might want to give this a try. read more

Ultra Maniac was the first manga I've read, but is mediocre compared to the other manga I've read. I've also watched some of the anime episodes, and was a great anime. I wasn't a noob to the anime industry, though. The character development was great, and my favorite character so far has to be Nina. The art is amazing and wonderful, and it's very enjoyable. I gave this manga a 6/10.

I would have to say that these two manga are similar in the basic storyline ways. They both have the 2 girl friends that are out pursuing love or is falling in/in love. Both manga consists of the 2 girls looking for their love life, and usually one of them succeeds, but the other one has a bit of a hard time. However, in Ultra Maniac, one of the girls is a magician of some sort and it is more... lighter? in some ways? Urukyuu (Ultra Cute) may be more realistic and more deeper/sadder than Ultra Maniac. But I believe that both mangas are good and are great to read (for romances/shoujo fans~ ^-^ )
They both are romance manga. Urukyuu is the Japanese name, Ultra Cute is its English name.

Both by the same author, boh lovely sweet stories, the main difference is that Ultra Maniac involves fantasy and magic.
