Both these manga talk about ninja life. It is a cruel, inhumane life, simply because human lives are easy to take. Money and mission reign supreme in the priority order of shinobi. Shinobi no Kuni has lots of blood, darkness. And both are amazing to read. 

Both manga are set in a fictionalized version of feudal Japan and center around a warrior who seeks to atone for and/or escape from a life defined by violence and murder. 

Both are about a person who is to protect a noble person and get sort of a relationship meanwhile.  

Both are works by Arakawa Hiromu that feature slightly different takes on typical shounen action.
