Believing himself to be useless at football, Aizawa Kakeru opts to become the manager of his school's football team, while his brother Suguru is its ace, and is even good enough to represent Japan. However, Kakeru may be harbouring a strong talent within himself that only Suguru can see, and the two often get into arguments over Kakeru's denial of his skills. Things are made more complicated with the return of Nana, an old playmate of theirs that Kakeru has a crush on. Join the brothers in their journey to the national and even international championships!

Area no Kishi is a manga about football. This is not just any sportmanga, but a wellwritten one. The story is incredible deep and wellwritten. You will be suprised how wellwritten this sportmanga is. You might even shed a tear or two. This is not the typical sportserie wich usually is Sport / comedy. Area no Kishi is a sport / slice of life serie. Its 100% serious.

Area no Kishi is about Aizawa Kakeru. Aizawa is a talented fotbollplayer who aims for becoming a pro, just like his older brother Suguru who is already good enough to play in the U-15 national team.

Okay, this is my first time writing a review so bare with me. Okay so basically I probably suck at writing reviews but this story frustrated me so much that I had to speak out ! Kakeru, is the main character who is always running away because he feels as though he's not good enough for football (soccer) but then after some turn in events he tries with all his might and gives it his all, but even so..every character who knows about his heart (which is now he's genius brother's won't spoil) they all act as though it's his brother and every time he read more

Manga: Uchuu Kyoudai
Despite following very different story premises, Area no Kishi and Uchuu Kyoudai emphasizes on the idea of following a dream. The main protagonist from both series has a brother who is considered is held in high regards for their abilities. They wish to make a name for themselves and catch up to them someday in the hopes for earning other people's praise. Both series also focus a lot on character relationships as the main protagonist finds himself at times struggling with interpersonal conflicts. Known for their lighthearted atmosphere and realism, I recommend both series for anyone interested in a journey of dream pursuing.

Manga: Days
Area no Kishi and Days are sports manga that tells the story of a young man who gets into soccer. Both series' main male protagonist starts out as rookies, a sharp contrast to another main male protagonist who is considered a prodigy. As the story progresses, we see the rookie develop their skills through experiences. There is also some romance subplot in both series as well and drama.

Manga: Cross Game
These two shounen sports stories share a few similarities. In both titles the main character isn't interested in the sport at first. It all changes when tragedy strikes in his life. From that moment he starts to change himself, in order to become an oustanding player. Also both series have realistic approach to the sport theme. Both mangas catch the reader into a story full of feelings related to sports and what it takes practice one. If you liked Cross Game, you may as well like Area no Kishi.

Manga: Fight no Akatsuki
Eventhough the type of sport is not the same (Akatsuki=Basketball and Area no Kishi=Soccer), both are still about sports. In both you can see that main characters are excellent players but they lack ability at something (Akatsuki=Scoring and Kakeru=Shooting with the left). They were also reject by the school's club. But, later joined them.
