Both has hearing impairment character, although this manga tackles a lot more about hearing impairment, also the setting is more mature (in college and workplace)

Both have couples where one is deaf though in Kingyosou they get together much earlier. While Kingyosou is set through highschool to college Hidamari is set in college. Both present the struggles of being hearing impaired and how the other helps them get through.

Stories involving hearing-impaired character in school setting and how this influences the acts of those around them.

Both manga are about uke disability which makes it hard to communicate with other people and seme who understands them on a different level than everybody else. The stories have similar sweet-but-sad aura around them, although Hidamari is a shounen-ai while Kanashii have quite a lot of sex.

A shy and quiet boy lives his life as an outcast due to certain reasons, but a loud and talkative young man manages to melt the coldness in the other boy's life.

Beautifully written stories about two deaf (and mostly mute) MCs, who feel lonely in the world due to their disability. However, their world changes completely when a kind, loving and caring MC2 accidentally shows up in their lives.

- shounen ai - the mc started noticing and helping the potential lover as friends at first then later got attached to them - given already got an anime adaptation - wholesome story

Strong but lonely protagonists enter a whole new world through friendship - facing society, prejudice and their own feelings. Nice clean drawings and wholesome characters included.

Both have one of the main characters who are hearing impaired; They both have a hard time to understand and express their feelings for each other, wich cause a lot of misunderstandings at first, but not because of the disability, but because they do not talk about it lol It is sweet and cute, I really enjoyed both! :)

Both manga deal with an MC who has a disability and is treated differently by everyone, even though all he wants is to be treated normally. Then comes in MC2 who treats him like a regular human being, and thus their love story beings.

Both series have a protagonist who is deaf/hearing impaired, with a partner who has no hearing issues. The series focuses on the difficulties not only in communicating between the two partners, but also developing their relationship due to very real and literal miscommunications. They're slow burn, but very realistic and honest in their character and plot developments.

Both about person that is seperated from society because of personal reasons and meets a happy-go-lucky kinda person that gradually changes their life.

Both I Hear The Sunspot and After We Gazed At The Starry Sky are sweet gay romances where one of the two leads is disabled: Kouhei from Sunspot has a hearing disability, and Subaru from Starry Sky uses a wheelchair. Sunspot handles the disability aspect better, by addressing the nature of his disability and showing a greater Deaf/HOH community, and delving more into the issues he faces as a disabled person in Japan than Starry Sky does for Subaru, but both are cute and enjoyable.

In my opinion, both are a bit more mature pieces of art in the BL genre. While Hidamari confronts disabilities in a very touching and true way, Koimonogatari is about another difficulty - of being homosexual in an environment that is not always accepting. The characters in both series are easy to relate to. They are true to their feeling throughout the series, and it is conveyed to us in a simple and yet very touching way.

On the surface this mangas have nothing in common but reading Kimiiro, I was feeling similar sensations as while reading HgK. Both manga show slow romances where characters dwell about their own feelings and want to stay close not really sure why. Moreover, both works show a happy/cheerful character getting involved with a bit unsociable person with a lot of personal problems. Naturally, they influance one another and change thanks to each other. I think if you liked one, you won't regret reading the other one.

It's rare to find BL manga that have an MC with a physical disability. While in Hidamari, our MC finds it difficult to hear and speak, in Koko ni the MC is blind. Do keep in mind that while Hidamari is on haitus, Koko ni has only 3 chapters scanlated.
