SynopsisThe main character is a detective, Kazuhiko Amamiya, suffering from multiple personality disorder. Starting out as a violent detective series with a twist (the twist being the variant personalities that take over Detective Amamiya at various intervals), the series evolves into an exceptionally complex and involved sci-fi conspiracy story. |

MPD-Psycho is one of the most sickest,darkest,mind-shocking,breath-taking,eye-popping-from-your-head thing I've read in a while. And I'm speaking softly now..
What do we have in MPD?
We have a detective, who is also a killer,or maybe vice of versa,a killer who is a detective. It's hard to tell. One of the great pluses of this manga is it's complexity, where the reader must understand the way of the twisted killer mind, sometime's this bring's you in the darkes't corner's of your conscious.Creepy.
The artwork..the artwork is great, one of the few mangas that actually has Japanese citizens looking Japanese!(seriously, this one is rare)
The art is defined by its use of simple, clean lines that bring's the needed atmosphere to the story.
Another thing I'm woefully happy in this manga,it's the beggining. The corpse of a woman who's locked in a cold storage freezer, with it's limb cut of(arm' and leg's as well),and the woman itself drugged to a state of unconscious. The punch line? The girl was sent as a mail to our protoganist. So you see, this is like a test, the elimination's of all the weak reader's with faint heart or easily offended.A survival of the fittest you may say.
So if you're one of those wishing fot a higher enlightment , this is a must read. read more

Both center around plots of psychological war-fare, an intelligent but slightly disturbed main character. If you like intense psychological drama and a hint of mystery these are right up your alley.
Mind games, Machiavellian methods, and mass murders. If you found either of these titles interesting, you might want to also try out the other one since both involve unorthodox detectives hunting down serial killers. However, MPD Psycho is definitely not for the faint of heart with its sexual imagery, explicitly gory death scenes, and mentally unstable characters.
If talking about series with "hide&seek"/investigation themes, Death Note is a light version of MPD Psycho. Even so, if you liked one, you'll like the other. Each one have their own primary objectives: MPD is to be seen as very adult mangá; DN is to be seen as a "pre-adult" one?

They're both about serial murder cases and someone who solves them. Also both are gory and show mutilated corpses.
However, MPD Psycho has a more complicated story.
Mystery, serial murders, psychological, seinen, great art, and, last but not least, gore.
