Both novels has mystery and supernatural theme. The protagonists of both series consists of a kind guy, a mysterious girl, and a woman who employed them. They had to deal with supernatural phenomenons in their jobs. One of the protagonist of both series also have mystic eyes. One of them has the ability to foresee the events that causing the death of someone close to them (like 6th sense), the other can see the mortality of everything in this world in form of lines. One's job is to prevent someone's death that related to supernatural objects, the other one is to "kill" someone that causes the supernatural phenomenon. read more 

Different mediums (Tsukumodo Antique Shop being a light novel, xxxHolic being a manga) but both are stories surrounding mysterious shops that deal with unorthodox elements, one being about mysterious objects and the other dealing more directly with mysterious spirits. 

Both series are made up of short stories and involve supernatural objects. One has magical antiques and the other phantom books which contains forbidden knowledge. The objective of both protagonists are to retrieve these objects and prevent the world from falling into chaos. 

Similar theme: about a boy and a beautiful yet mysterious girl who fight people who misuse double-edged magical devices; boxes in Hakomari and relics in Tsukumodo. Both have dark atmosphere, plot twists, interesting character developments, etc. 

Mysterious objects with special powers. Both series adapts supernatural elements in the most unique form as we witness the powers of these objects. The main characters and the story revolves around these objects. The supernatural phenomenons brings out the various themes of both series as well. There is also a mystery sensation regarding the origins of these powerful objects as the main characters uncover the truth and discover secrets beyond imaginations.
