People come and go, but their memories stay with us, and it's our duty to keep them alive.

It's one thing to have a masterpiece under your belt at any age. It's another thing to have multiple, and it's ANOTHER thing to have four of them back to back before you've even hit 30. I may be biased, but I really do think that Fujimoto-sensei has already set the gold standard for mangaka moving forward, and this oneshot is the perfect guide on how he does it.

What I assumed was just Fujimoto talking about a dead relative turned into a story showcasing his obvious love of ...

We got another Fujimoto one shot and there are still no news on Chainsaw Man Part 2, but I don't even care. This man does everything good.

The following review will be me fanboying Fujimoto. And it will contain a bit of spoilers.

Goodbye Eri. 10/10 imo

You read the tittle and think it would be a cliché one shot when one of the characters die, and you would be right. At least for the first 100 pages. But when you read halfway through, story changes a bit. Now you don't know if something is happening or just acting, it honestly blew and fascinated me. As well the ...

Very very interesting. A complete 1/10 and a 10/10 at the same time so I'll balance it out and leave it with a 9/10.

Fujimoto got so meta with this one that it stopped amusing or really interesting me halfway through. Still I think it contains many great stories within, it's almost like an anthology where you can pick your favorite "movie" out of this one-shot and analyze it on your own and give it an individual review or score.

The panelling was simple yet bright assimilating a camera most of the time if not all depending on the perspective you choose to view. My ...

Mixed Feelings
Fujimoto-senpai does it again. But this time in a one-shot dealing with love and loss. Told through the narrative of a young filmmaker coming to terms with trauma and death. A must read if you are a fan of Fujimoto-senpai's art style or storytelling. The story will leave you feeling empty yet satisfied, an emotional tour de force that explores the intricacies of grief, loss, coping, love, and more. You will likely feel like you know where the story is going, but only as Fujimoto-senpai can, the author twists the plot to medium breaking proportions, writing in a style closer to movie storyboards than manga ...

((SPOILERS))

I really liked this one shot it was very well written and although it was short it was still a really lovely read I like how Yuta was able to help his Farther and Eris friend remember them fondly even with their faults. Was not expecting the little twist at the end really cool.

It was extremely interesting that most the manga was like it was being shot out the camera lens it really did give a movie vibe with how he presented the story

The art was really nice as always from Fujimoto I love his style and writing style.

Tatsuki Fujimoto really created a one-shot manga about how the way we tell stories can never impart the whole truth but it can still create beauty and bring catharsis precisely because of that, how those stories can both hurt and help those who tell them, those who hear them, and those the stories are about, about how embellishing those stories is necessary for us to find closure with them.

Sayonara Eri is a tale of loss. The synopsis is not something that would attract your attention if you're not into Drama but once you start reading it, you know this one shot is going to leave ...

Fiction doesn't have to be real to be impactful. Reality is stranger, crueller than fiction. Fujimoto’s blurring the lines of the two tells us to treat both like the other, to jovially accept the bullshittery in real life as if we are living in a play. But also experiencing the dramatic tragedy in fiction as if they were real. Therefore we learn, experience and live life in both worlds, but face the horrors of life with absurdist acceptance.

Similar to Fujimoto's last one shot, Look Back. This work is once again, a love letter to the creatives out there. Fujimoto lays out his genuine, personal concerns ...

Fujimoto solidifies his place as my favorite manga artist with 'Goodbye Eri.' The story is a thrilling rollercoaster, and I love how Fujimoto uses unique angles to make it feel like a movie. He doesn't waste time on filler, swiftly moving the plot forward. His characters are real and relatable, showing the complexities of love. The non-linear storytelling, where the plot twists alongside the main character, is brilliant. 'Goodbye Eri' raises important questions about the line between enjoying fiction and using it to escape. Fujimoto's manga, including this one, beautifully explores the significance of stories in our lives. And, of course, it wouldn't be ...

Compare this manga to previous one-shots by Fujimoto (Look Back, Nayuta of the Prophecy, ...) and and you'll find out it's the most developed one. I think a good story (in all mediums) needs to work on two things: cohesion and density.

Yuuta in the beginning of the story and Yuuta in the end of the story, Eri in the beginning of the story and Eri in the end of the story, both journeys make a full circle. They are the same characters we knew from the beginning but at the same time, they're brand new. You can say they are back where they started, but ...

This is a great example of a well written short story. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, while creatively showing how people can mourn differently, and how hard it is to process someone just not being there anymore.

Honestly, I'm shocked by the bad reviews, it just seems like all the brilliant showcases of how people process different emotions just flew over their heads. There's tons of very deep and important life lessons to be found in this short story, and Id rather not spoil it for anyone, so all I'm gonna say is - it's fun, it's emotional, it's FILLED with absurdist wisdom ...

This is one of the greatest one shots I have ever read. It takes one of unique styles to tell a compelling story. We get to see Tatsuki Fujimoto insane ideas and a glimpse of his storytelling prowess. From chapter one it should hook you in with its unique storytelling and introduction. Sayonara Eri is meta of meta made by movie loving manga artist. One of the greatest traits of this manga is its panelling. Man Fujimoto is indeed a genius in terms of how he wants to tell a story. We can see his paneling are inspired by movies and you guess, it legit ...

There's a lot you can say with words, but you can say even more with pictures.

"Goodbye, Eri" is a new One-Shot by Tatasuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man. And my I just say, "Wow". It Truly is a spectacle to behold. And if there is one word to describe it, It's "Real". Fujimoto really does have a way with storytelling from his art to his Dialogue and his characters.

Sayonara, Eri is a story simply about movies. And how movies can tell and share stories that change people and the way those people view others. Movies can change the way you look at ...

FunnyFunny
+ The art is acceptable.
+ The paneling is praiseworthy here and there.
± The character designs aren't memorable.
- The characters can hardly be called that. They are just hollow shells posing as characters.
- The whole manga is basically a volley of plot twists that serve no purpose besides shocking the reader. Engagement of this approach wears off after the first plot twist. Writing a surprising plot twist is banal. Writing a surprising plot twist that is boldly foreshadowed, purposeful and not outlandish is not.
- It gives an impression of the author ineptly trying to mimic western mind-boggling movies like Inception.
- The dialogues are bland. The interactions ...

Holy shit. If there was any question about it before (there wasn't), Fujimoto cements his status even further as my favorite mangaka with this one.

Goodbye Eri is an absolutely wild ride and I adore it. The way he frames his panels using creative perspectives to make it actually look like a film within a film is ingenious. It really feels like watching a movie rather than reading a manga. As always, Fujimoto wastes no time with filler or fluff, but keeps the plot moving speedily forward from the jump. This is not to say that his characters are rushed or sloppy, on the contrary: ...

Fiction can have a significant impact without being tied to reality.

The author highlights the strangeness of real life and the importance of accepting its absurdities, while also encouraging the immersion in fictional tragedies. The discussion then shifts to Fujimoto's work, which serves as a heartfelt tribute to creators, addressing their common struggles and combining them with captivating storytelling.

The manga explores dark and philosophical themes with honesty and irony, allowing for open discussions and the exploration of different perspectives. By incorporating personal elements into the story, the author enables a broader audience to engage with profound messages without compromising artistic integrity.

I cannot not read Fujimoto's work. ...

A one-shot where you're never quite sure what's real and what's not, what's part of a movie and what's part of the real story of the manga. It's certainly unpredictable from beginning to end, it becomes very meta and is full of love for film... and in between it tells you a story about emotional closure after the death of a loved one.
The panneling is very simple but very cool, all the panels are the same (like the frames of a video) and he also adds motion blur from time to time to add realism to the protagonist's recordings. A funny guy, this Fujimoto.

It's a oneshot. Just read it. It'll take you an hour, maybe.
In case you need justification to read the damn thing, here are some buzzwords. Also, might be some spoilers ahead.

Art
- see for yourself, but I'd say it's pretty damn good. Considering the use of perspective, I'd say it's really damn good.
Perspective
- the use of perspective as both a narrative and plot device is on a whole another level
Pacing
- actually without a fault. Maybe only possible because it's a oneshot.
Narrative devices
- framing story? Or is it a framing story withing a framing story? Or is it a framing story withing a framing story withing a ...

on first read a lot of the first half or so didn't grip me as much as "look back" did, look back is just so immediate with the impact for me, & i know i don’t need to be comparing the two but they are fujimoto's two big newer one shots & i read them together originally as some of my first manga so they do have a kind of importance in my head as a pair as far as my own manga journey goes. but by the end of eri the first time through damn, can't help denying its another amazing work forsure. just ...

Well, this was a long one shot, it could've easily been a few chapters long.

This story brings such an interesting idea and the art itself is very nice!
The characters are mainly very strange, in a way, but that's what brings this story together. It's interesting that the majority of the things we, as readers, see is the camera footage, it's a fun concept and the plot twistS (plural!) it brings are scaaary. I feel like one of the purposes could be to show the idealization in movies, or just idealization that comes after person's death.
It's a story about death, loss, tragedy, but also a ...
