There are several reasons why I like both of these series: * In both series main characters dynamics work out really well - you keep wanting more interactions between them! * Relatable and well written main and side characters with nice backstories * Both are about relationships between people - what does it mean to be someone's friend; what does caring for someone really mean? * The confidence in both main characters (Yugami and Mitsumi) that inspires others and perhaps even you as a reader. Overall both are really well written slice of life manga.

Both have a strong female lead that is pure and determined. Both male leads are also considered "popular" and friendly at school. The plots focus on school life - friendships, romance, goals, etc. Very heartwarming storylines. Only big difference is the art style - KnT is more shoujo-esque, while StL has more seinen vibes.

Good teenage romance with well written characters and LGBT themes. I think they have similar artstyle too

Both have a similar grounded but wholesome narrative about a protagonist who feel out of their depth at the beginning but make good friends in their day to day high school life with realistic stakes and drama. Romance is a theme but not the main one.

Both have a kind of similar feel to them and focus on growth, coming-of-age and love. They're both pretty realistic too, and their art styles have a soft feel to them. They are genuinely such a joy to read and I highly recommend them.

Both series are refreshing high school slice of life series with a solid focus on the development between the friendships between the characters. Both Rintarou and Shima's lives change for the better when they meet the female protagonists of each series, Waguri and Mitsumi respectively. Both series are delightful and put a huge smile on my face whenever I read them. If you liked one series, you’re sure to enjoy the other!

both are seinen with a popular guy and unpopular girl romance (sorta of). the female lead is not conventionally pretty but has a heart of gold. convincing side characters.

First of all the time setting is similar; the characters are transitioning from childhood to young adulthood and experiencing the emotions that come with it. The two mangas are funny and have similar cute/funny interactions between the friends. Miae and Mitsumi are both bubbly, funny and cutely earnest characters while Shima and Cheol both have struggles with their past and self image and find comfort in the girls. The two stories are also similar in that they don't solely focus on just romance, but also friendships and struggles of adolescence. And lastly, both mangas give me the same feeling of comfort and nostalgia about my  read more

Both revolve around high school girls who stumble through their adolescent days with the support of newly made friends. Both comics are extremely wholesome and contain sweet romance arcs. Spirit fingers is maybe more direct with themes of self-love and romance. However, the strongest and most lovable components in both are the realistic dynamics between friends.

Although Oresama Teacher is way wackier and less down to earth than Skip and Loafer, I think if you enjoy the comedic moments of one series, you'll enjoy the antics of the other. Especially when it comes to the main characters. The main characters have similar energetic girl energies, even if one is a straight A student that would be mortified by the other's delinquent past. Both are starting out at a new high school that is far away from their old junior high but have occasional returns to their hometowns.

the story begins all happy and wholesome until the male mcs past is revealed, mcs don't feel the same about the girl mcs which is just to prevent things from getting worse, in skip and loafer, shima doesnt understand how mitsumi feels and makes her upset because people are making fun out of her saying if she was dating her, it'd only be a joke. in ao haru ride, he rejects her because he's too busy thinking about what would happen if he left his girl "friend" who suffered like him. both mcs past has a childhood girl that has secret feelings for them and wants  read more

- MC who is chasing some significant dream (becoming an artist in Blue Period; becoming a bureaucrat in Skip and Loafer) - Semi-slice of life, in that you follow the MC's journey to achieve this - Startingly in-depth look at characters' desires and motivations The parallels aren't immediately obvious, but read each and you'll understand they both have the same kind of "holy shit, I've felt that way" moments

Children in acting, and then a drama club later on, although plotlines aren't really the same. skip has subtle lgbt that's not in the main character. it's not overdone like western media. and I really enjoy the romance from both!

Has a similar feeling mc who is kind of awkward but because of their uniqueness attracts the attractive guy. Both have a similar feel and are lighthearted for the most part. The heroines are full of heart, spunk, and ambition. They have a sweet honesty to them underneath it all that others who become close to them can see. Well-written and not so full of cliches

Both have a keen focus on strong friendships between characters and societal differences & how we're expected to live up to them & interact with others. Great ensemble casts, great writing, and great humor with keen insight into emotional intelligence and bonds. Both are series I'd come back to over & over again. Totally timeless.

Both Skip & Loafer and Tasogare Memorandum follow high school girls who have careers decided for their future that shape the story. Skip & Loafer has more of an ongoing plot while Tasogare Memorandum has more of an episodic narrative. Both focus more on friendship than romance. And in the end, both are cute slice-of-life manga that have very similar vibes.

characters learning what it means to love someone for the person they are! (whether that love manifests in the form of romantic or platonic love) also, both stories have such warm and healing slice-of-life vibes that are like chicken soup for my soul <3

Similar premise about a country girl, moving to a new town, in a new environment. The story involves the main characters to deal with their differences and understand each other feelings.
reportRecommended by TheStranger234
Both MC's moving from the countryside to the exciting new start of their high school careers in Tokyo. Both stay with a relative. Both heroines are sincere and make friends with the first person they meet who might end up being more than that. Though this one can be more drama-filled and emotional, both give off a similar setting.

Both MCs may not be considered good looking and can be awkward at times. The male lead is famous and the MCs caught their interest. This is a general recommendation tbh. You don't even have to have read Kageno. I think Skip to Loafer is a gem any shoujo fan should experience.
