Death Panda is the cutest panda since Sexual Harassment Panda. With the contrast between his fur, laden with heart shaped white splotches, and his vicious teeth and claws, he is fucking adorable. Be forewarned, this story doesn't have any incredible characters; most of them don’t do too much before dying. It is not very thrilling. It is not all that grotesque or messed up, not compared to previous Uziga Waita manga. It sure ain't scary. So what are its strengths? It is pretty funny, for one. It’s really funny, actually. It's about a demonically cute panda that rapes and kills at a whim; as you ... can imagine, people's reactions to him are pretty priceless. This shock value humor almost renders Death Panda as a kind of one-trick pony, but it manages to spice things up with exceedingly creative brutality, injected with a scathing wit and an unpredictable nature, and then it concludes before its ephemeral appeal wears off its welcome. Despite Death Panda's inherently transient nature, augmented by its high entertainment value, in its duration it ironically and moralistically explores things like familial relations, homosexuality, animal captivity, the meaning of evil, idolatry, reincarnation, and the metaphysical definition of the distinction between human and beast. No, this is not a philosophical or “deep” manga, it merely satirizes these things. It also satirizes the power rangers.


For a good example of the type of comedy you are like to find in Death Panda: in one Uziga Waita manga, Death Face, a girl calls an obese mentally deficient man ugly. He then rips her vaginal opening with his hands, turns her inside out, and embraces her remains as they ooze blood, guts, and cokroaches. He then lachrymosely warbles out the age-old cliché of "we are all the same on the inside." This strange and repulsive sense of humor is omnipresent in all Uziga Waita works, and that is what you should expect in this one as well. The reason his manga tend to be underrated is that people expect erotism or serious and dark plot from his work, when those things were clearly never his strengths. He is a humorist at heart, strangely enough; it's just a very dark sense of humor. I find his style to be clever and fresh, but not all will. Still, the story was very unpredictable and it was perfectly paced, so I must at least give it a 7/10. The art is well-done, with admittedly more detail done on the characters' entrails than their faces, but it's also a 7/10 because it definitely accomplishes what it was designed to do and the detail is there when it is needed. Characters have over-the-top and entertaining development, although they are just vehicles for the plot, and I have to give them a 7/10 or a 7.5/10. Enjoyment is easily Death Panda's biggest strength, as it is incredibly engaging despite not exactly being profound or groundbreaking; I have to give it at least 9/10 for enjoyment. Overall, it's a semi-weak 8. It certainly lacks universal appeal, but the niche it was designed for, the readers who have no issue stomaching it, could consider it a potential classic.

The Death Panda is a good manga, that is if you into guro and black comedy. The arts magnificent, mostly because of the detail and the deaths are somewhat creative.

The designs of the characters are also magnificent, something about a heart covered panda and giraffe eating and murderer people is funny. If course the hentai part is in all honesty, not that good, well The Death Panda can turn into a human and is (as expected) a rapist. Classic Waita Uziga. The human forms are also appealing, but is quickly ruined by the murder and rape.


Story: 3/10, the story, like most hentai, sucks. But ... the comedy is good, I laughed a few times while reading it. The story has a lot of weirdness to it, shrine maidens fighting Death Panda and then getting reincarnated as a demon giraffe, was interesting.


Art: 9/10, : Waita Uziga's style and detail is always amazing, the gore is realistic, the only problem is that everything's dark and it's hard to see most of the detail in the gore, but that depends if you want to see that (though, you should know what this manga is about by now.)


Characters: 3/10, the only reason it's a 3/10 rather than a 1/10 is because the character have a "character", even if it's little.

Enjoyment: 4/10, I didn't enjoy the gore or hentai but the comedy made it worth reading if you can stomach it.

Overall: 6/10.

What does ero guro nansensu mean nowadays? A thirteen year old girl will direct a Gacha Life yaoi torture movie (18+). Folks on r/guro will wholeheartedly admit to joerkoffing to a girl being flayed and eaten. You’ve probably witnessed that one gif where a girl is standing in a machine. Guro has gu-rown into whatever it wants to be.

With The Death Panda, it’s all about sex and violence. That’s the guro status quo. It’s not pleasant to look at and I don’t blame you for outright hating it. At the same time, it doesn’t break any meaningful ground in the genre. I understand the claim ... that this a love comedy cranked to visceral absurdity, topped with black humor and whatnot, but I really didn’t resonate with it. True love is being killed, turned into a tan demon, shapeshifting an animal you see at a zoo, and cannibalizing people, I suppose. Love transcends all boundaries, including death. The point of Death Panda was to exaggerate the classic tsundere dynamic found in a shounen. It’s shipping the hero and villain. It’s the lovable heel turn. This tried to be like the Madagascar movie—you see, those characters were relatable and genuine because, unlike us, the monster was on the outside. Death Panda ended up as predictable and boring, however, knowing the fights would end in his win because that’s the only way the brutalizing can occur.

I discovered guro via shock images that led to Gurochan back in 2016. I was like fourteen. That hellhole had me come out disgusted and queasy, but nothing in Death Panda made me feel that. Shrine girls fight a horny roided evil panda, get raped, and die horribly. That’s about it. The point of ero guro in my eyes is to make you upset and want to censor it, plus show how horrible life could be in an unhinged society. This is not the worst thing I’ve ever read, but it’s very bad nonetheless as generic guro. I prefer Hello Panda.
